Another great video - thanks! I was looking forward to watching your video out on the river with the Nugget Bucket. Time to do a side by side test comparison - nugget bucket vs sluice box!
How do you know if this is better than a sluice box without using a control? You'd need to run the exact same material through both processes to determine if one is better than the other.
I think the Gold Rush Nugget Bucket is great, especially in places where sluice boxes are prohibited, and in places where there is not enough flow to support a sluice box, it is also great for testing. Every prospector should have one. The only reason it will not replace a sluice box for me is that I can run more material with a sluice box.

I think I can be more efficient if I am going to be on the river all day using a full size classifier, and the regular 5 gallon bucket and a sluice box. With the "nugget bucket' you only have a small maybe one quart container before you are stopping to clean up. With the traditional method you are only having to clean up maybe 2 or 3 times a day depending on how much black sand builds up in the riffles of the sluice box. Also, when you are shoveling your material in the "nugget bucket" you lose a lot of time and energy continuously pouring water over the material to classify it. Maybe I'm just old school, but I'm gonna stick to the tried and true sluice box method. Love your videos. Keep up the good work!
I actually agree here with you saying you rather use the sluice box. I prefer the old school way too, it's more relaxing and you get a break instead of constantly pouring water and shoveling. Well, nobody wants to pan a whole bucket of concentrate. That's why a sluice is used after you classify material to concentrate so the big rocks don't ruin your box and knock the gold out of the sluice. Thanks for the video.
Maybe it's been said already, (I'm seeing this 4 years after it debuted)...but I would bring along a small battery powered bilge pump, attach a hose from the pump to the top of the bucket, and have constant water, so I didn't have to continually bend over to refill lots of buckets of water...

Arapahoe Bar is a few flakes site even with a Gold Cube but easy to reach from the trail head on the other side of the bridge. Concrete hiking/biking trail along site. Site has changed a lot in past year with construction on trail side. You usually meet nice prospectors sharing the site.
I find living on vancouver island, the rules in place what to use while panning in the river especially sooke pot holes. So the Gold rush nugget bucket would be the best to use I also wanted to say watching you these past few years thank you for all your experience and advice that you've have given, I now have a hobby that I enjoy thank you bud. I tell my friends who are also wanting to gold pan as a hobby I direct them to watch your content.

it would never replace a sluice box because it doesnt refine the material as far down. and a sluice box will handle much more material before change out
I am a bit late in commenting, but I do not see this replacing the sluice. With the sluice, you can set it up and classify your stuff straight from the hole into the sluice and take the bucket right out of the Equation. For me I usually set up in the middle of the creek and just start scooping the creek bed into my pan, then right into a classifier that sits on the open end of my sluice. The constant water flow allows me to quickly shake out the classifier and toss the excess while the dirt naturally runs its course in the sluice. Just set the classifier back at the open end of the sluice and scoop another healthy heaping of creek bed into it and repeat. You can get through several full buckets worth pretty fast without even using a bucket until final clean up.
The only thing I can see why it won't replace a sluice is because you can't put the same volume of sand through it before having to pan, maybe for test pans to go through test holes quick, but if you're digging on straight black silt bars and glacial till, then you would have to change the bottom out too often, and wouldn't be able to handle larger volumes.. great for kids and just pan trips though..
@@Klesh Coming in one year later this is useless to us. You should link to the video in question, otherwise people will just google the device and thus not use your discount code.
"Mr Dude" was digging on the wrong side- He must have missed the video about checking your area BEFORE you go prospecting...First who owns it- and if there are any claims or strange rules...I still think you would had the exact amount of concentrates if you would had just used a screen..in-fact when you pulled the cup out- you had blonde sand on the top- yet it looked liked there was black sand in the bottom of bucket...meaning the cup filled up and eventually was dumping all material over the top..would think just that spinning motion of the cup would only clean off the top layer...Personally sticking with my screens and sluice box..great video as always...
That’s how the nugget bucket works... you’re want the blinds on the top and black sands on the bottom. That cup is a fluid bed when water is running into it....meaning all the material is behaving as a fluid. Since gold and black sand are heavy they sink and the lighter material is forced up and out.... so until that cup fills. Completely so until that cup is filled with black sands and gold you can continue running material. It’s works on the fluid bed principles and specific gravity.
He did not put a good layer of the marble sized rocks in the cup to do the small gold the best. It works as a fluid bed, dropping the heavies to the bottom as the water down force stirs the cup up. It is the Fly poop size gold and flour gold that I wonder about yet. So yes black sands will go over the cup, if you ran just black sand it would catch gold and eject black sand out.
best explanation yet Richard- Was still having a problem rapping my brain around how it worked....I can Finally see where more stones would have given the black sand and Gold a chance to "Drop" out...and why the black sand had concentrated on only one side of the cup before spilling over.
I like it. I tried designing something kind of like it, but it didn't work nearly as well as the Gold Rush Nugget Bucket. Think I'll get one. Thanks bro for another great video.
The advantage that I see to the Nugget Bucket would be in areas such as Lynx Creek in Prescott, AZ. The Forestry Service does not allow sluicing or metal detecting on Lynx Creek in the National Forest. As the Nugget Bucket accomplishes the same (or similar) production level to a sluice, this would allow for greater movement of dirt. Maybe a drive south to Prescott could be one of your next adventures.......
I live in south western Ohio. Gold has been found in the creeks here around Clermont County Adams County most likely throughout the state. Something like it would come in handy here where I live. I think it would be perfect for somebody like me. I live in an apartment on the third floor carrying a bucket back-and-forth instead of a sluice box and all the other gear I would need makes more sense.
I think you answered your own question. You get a break when you feed a sluice. I would like to try one because I don't like to stop just go go go. Thanks for taking me on your adventure.
Yet another comprehensive and informative video from you sir! I’ve wondered about using this inside of a large tub of water so as to reuse the water continuously. Something that might work well where any type of mechanical (gas, electric, or even manual pumps) assisted mining is not allowed. Any thoughts on that? And I do agree with you that a smaller mesh classifier would be beneficial, just maybe not quite as fine as 30 mesh. I think you would run the risk of throwing out some larger flakes if you go too fine.
Have you tried doing this with seeded paydirt to insure the cons are being collected in the collector container? In michigan we have super fine flower gold and I'm curious how good this would work with super fine flour gold.
Sluicing allows you to run more material thru before doing a clean up. If you are just prospecting then this bucket is a cool idea but it is not ideal for running quantity.
I like to take it apart because small pieces of sand and gravel get between the classifiers and the funnel piece. It only takes a second to break apart anyway. Thanks for watching
I wonder if you connected a hand dredge hose through the bucket lid of this? Pump smaller material through and have it classified at the same time...rest your arms as you empty the concentrates, pan later...then sit on the bucket as you pan, it does look comfy!
IMO if you are just planning to run just a few bucketfulls the nugget bucket is just fine. If you are planning to be out the bulk of the day, shoveling right into a larger Keene stream sluice with the right flow is still the tried and true method. You might need a quarter inch classifier here and there but it terms of volume the nugget bucket can't compete.
I wonder if there's a design like this but 40x bigger, and industrial sized. And motor operated. Then you could just dump material in with a loader. That probably exists
With that much water flow a 16 inch wide sluice with a classifying perforated metal screen placed in the sluice. Set the box up with a wing dam. And a wheelbarrow..that can double to carry your equipment you could move some serious dirt all day.
My thoughts as well. It's a side benefit for rock hounds that like rocks...just because...rocks. I'm a sucker for neat rocks and I'd likely end up with a full bucket of them if I went out with this setup. A seven-pound bucket on the way out. Thirty-two pounds of rocks on the trip back, lol.
You'd think that would help but the physics that cause the nugget bucket to function would be compromised if it were submerged. It needs that distance between the end of the funnel and the cup to blow out the light stuff and keep the heavies in there.
from my experience, just a regular bucket, and a classifier, use the bucket like a gold pan, then classify down to concentrates, put them in another bucket and keep going....cheap and easy
That is awesome. If someone were to combine Mr teslonians "classifier king" foot pedal powered classifier, manufactured by lost river mining with the arbofab bucket filter and the nugget bucket, it would be a dream come true for any enthusiast. It's a real back saver.
You ARE famous!!! I think the bucket would work well with no water flow areas because a sluice won't. Me thinks someone might be a wee bit stoned lol. Watching the water 'bead' off the bottom of that unseasoned pan made me cringe. Can you please sort that out lol? Cheers, Jason.
KleshGuitars Lol. This channel has come a long way real quick. You were pretty confident at the start but now, there's no stopping you. Good on you mate!✌️
I think that you're losing gold out of the cup. You should put a layer of ribbed matting and miner's moss on the bottom of the bucket and around the cup, and pan it out. It's really the only way to see if it's losing gold or not.
That's a pretty good idea. However, I did a test (previous video) to see if I'd lose any gold and the amount was very minimal. Check it out! Thanks for watching!
Your right, it was minimal using only that 2lbs bag of concentrates. Three 5 gallon buckets, and a lot more water action could be different. No big deal, just a thought.
He’s not losing any gold or very little. Similar to a good tuned sluice. The nugget bucket works on the fluid bed principle... gold being 19 times heavier than water sinks to the bottom the second the water dumps thru the funnel and into the dish, fluidizing the material.... that’s why the funnel channels the water and slurry directly into the cup. It’s creates a fluid bed and the heavies sink while the lights float off the top. Unless that cup fills up with gold or material heavier than gold it can’t rise to the top and float off. Heavies sink in a fluid bed
It's not a fluid bed, a fluid bed is pressurized with a separate continuous flow of water that keeps the heavies locked in via the hydraulic pressure. The only thing that comes out is lighter material that is pushed out by new heavy material dropping in. The only thing holding material in the cup in this bucket is gravity. All I'm saying is this should not be thought of as a sluice box replacement or as a serious prospecting tool. This would be great for kids, maybe. The Nugget Bucket is $120, which I think is over priced for what is does. You can get a Pyramid Pro Pan for $80, or a Flow Pan for $99 and process more material faster and end up with a lot more gold.
When the water is pouring in , it funnels to the center of the cup. The cup is a fluid bed while the water is drained though it. Heavies stay and lights blow or float over the rim of the cup. It gives you concentrate to then pan down. The reason to put in the layer of marble sized rock it to give the gold a place to settle, with out this layer it is not as effective. It was not run correctly in this video to if fullest effective level. But was good to see it get some small flake.
Oh didn't look like it was a problem. But I usually season new pans by rubbing dry gravels in them. They use oils and such manufacturing them. And a scratchy pan catches fine gold's better imho. Just a bit of info. But again looks like it didn't effect you at all. Good panning. Pan on all
Yeah I didn't season this pan, just cleaned it with soap to remove the factory oils. I don't plan on using this pan just wanted to use what came with the kit for the video.
Hi.will it keep catching gold even when the catch bowl is over flowing? In other words how much material can you process between clean outs.I only tried mine today and found that the catch bowl was over flowing with just one good sized shovel. If I have too clean out after every shovel a simple pan is faster.
Hi Shane... Just a quick question from a newbie...Do I need to empty the concentrates tub when its full, or can I work it and get it over flowing to get super rich concentrates. I would taking the potential paydirt home to work it....Loving your work buddy...bex
I would not chance it and just empty the tub every time it fills up. You’ll be able to see the darker heavier material at the bottom but if the thing fills up with dark material then you’ve probably gone too far
In theory that is a good idea, since they are plastic trays and gold would be detected by the pinpointer. However, the gold found here is usually too small for the detector to pick up, and even if it was big enough, the large amounts of trash, iron etc. here makes the pinpointer go off all the time anyway. Thanks for watching!
Shane!!! I was there that day! it was my first time, and thinking back I had thought I saw you but wasn't sure. you asked me how it was going and commented on it being a beautiful day. ahhhh i should have asked if it was you, but i was shy. lol
cool river test Klesh - I made a bucket like this ("like this") out of a Home Depot bucket before I ever saw this or anything like it. The video of it is on my channel
You can prospect on the south side they have metal poles that you really can't see that are indicators to how far in you can prospect on the south side of the creek.
Bucket seemed to work great....mabey, empty the lower unit into another bucket....once you get a bucket full of cons, take them home and go through them, or bring sluice with ya , and run the cons so you can have your sit down break...lol definately have to look into gettin one .
I suppose I could collect a few cups of concentrates then run it through the sluice. Even better a miller table, if I had access to one. Thanks for the comment and for watching

Arapahoe Bar is a few flakes site even with a Gold Cube but easy to reach from the trail head on the other side of the bridge. Concrete hiking/biking trail along site. Site has changed a lot in past year with construction on trail side. You usually meet nice prospectors sharing the site.
That Kentuckyan was panning on the wrong side of the river.
Ya he was Lol
I like that bucket. good idea. I've wanted 1 for a long time. just never got around to buying 1. might grab 1 up. nice video. good work as always!
Thanks Golden paydirt Reviews glad you enjoyed it!
I like bringing classifieds home and using the multisluice, it's better at panning than I am. Also much quicker.
Thanks Kenneth Weast for watching!
Thanks so much!
1:19 "Your videos taught me everything I know about [hard edit] digging in the mud."
I wonder what he thought he recognized him from before 'Klesh Guitars' was like "Oh no, I dig holes and film it. Yet named myself Klesh Guitars because I don't understand branding or how the internet works."
Named my channel KleshGuitars back in 2011 before I even knew or cared about treasure hunting.
it would never replace a sluice box because it doesnt refine the material as far down. and a sluice box will handle much more material before change out
Good Observation Kevin Deleon, and thanks for watching!
That’s a good idea to have the classifier on the sluice. Kind of like a fluid bed sluice which is even easier.
Seems like a modern version of the cradle.
Thanks John Koeberlein for watching!
Hey dude I have a question I seen a neat wirebasket classifier on one of your broadcasts where can I get my hands on one of them
That was about 2 or 3 videos ago. Check that video's description, there's a link and a discount code as well. Discount code is "SKPROSPECT"
KleshGuitars ok thanks
@@Klesh Coming in one year later this is useless to us. You should link to the video in question, otherwise people will just google the device and thus not use your discount code.
bashpr0mpt I use those classifiers in almost every video, and I link every product I use in each video.
That's so funny you found a fan out there! Sounds like you need to get them as a sponsor since you like them so much.
Yea every time I go there someone says Hi it's pretty cool
Yeah I noticed that too. Thanks for the comment and for watching
How could you not notice, and wasn't it more important to inform him, than to offer a guitar pick?
well done , great video my friend :)
Thanks Goldwaschen in Deutschland glad you enjoyed it!
KleshGuitars You need to upload better quality video. Advice from new subscriber, nice find for ten minutes though.
I like it. I tried designing something kind of like it, but it didn't work nearly as well as the Gold Rush Nugget Bucket. Think I'll get one.
Thanks bro for another great video.
I was pretty surprised how well it worked. I think it needs another few days on the river
Looks like great, the downside looks be your standing up for 45mins to 60mins at time
Yeah the standing and constant work makes it a better machine, but not as great on the back. Thanks for watching!
Lol, I was going to ask if you made the video and when you where going to put it out. Great job brother as always.
Always a step ahead haha thanks man
Like your vids. I use a regular 5 gallon bucket and classify down to 50 mesh. What is the difference between what I do and the nugget bucket?
the nugget bucket would be an excellent loaming/prospecting tool but nothing for any kind of production.
Thanks HolzMichel for watching!
I do plan on trying Arizona possibly this year. Thanks!
I used to go out to Lynx when up in preskit! Did i sluice? You’ll never know. 😛
10 minutes for that that was a good haul. Thanks again for your vids 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Jeremiah Brockopp for watching!
Thanks Dirt:30 with George for watching!
That is a cool and convenient tool. Seems like the portability is cool. Awesome that you ran into a fan out in the field! So cool!
Hey Sal thanks for watching!
happy you posted what I asked last video! Thanks Klesh! Great video man
Glad you liked it thanks for watching
My nugget bucket vs my high banker , 120lbs of pumps, banker , hoses and fuel for the day vs 8lb bucket in can pack up in mins and check new locations
I've been watching your videos for years now I like watching them
I actually have a Gold Rush Nugget Bucket. Very simple. Great tool.
Thanks DamnIt Pinkstaff glad you enjoyed it!
I like how you use the font from the game Bully in your thumbnails.
Not sure what the game bully is, but thanks for watching!
LoL...kewl. I purchased this "kit" to play around with this up coming summer. I was glad to see your review of it.
Have you tried doing this with seeded paydirt to insure the cons are being collected in the collector container? In michigan we have super fine flower gold and I'm curious how good this would work with super fine flour gold.
Great video! This is so compact and easily portable I'm going to get one and try it out thanks for a cool video man.
Thanks David Lopez for watching!
Sluicing allows you to run more material thru before doing a clean up. If you are just prospecting then this bucket is a cool idea but it is not ideal for running quantity.
Can you pull the concentrates through that big hole to do a clean up or do you have to break it apart
I like to take it apart because small pieces of sand and gravel get between the classifiers and the funnel piece. It only takes a second to break apart anyway. Thanks for watching
it was cool to see that nuget bucket in action and i think for me as a begginer this product will be enough to teach how to prospect
I agree Pan Złotko, and thanks for watching!
Crazy to see how quick the channel is growing...good job
I agree The Blue kiwi, and thanks for watching!
I wonder if you connected a hand dredge hose through the bucket lid of this? Pump smaller material through and have it classified at the same time...rest your arms as you empty the concentrates, pan later...then sit on the bucket as you pan, it does look comfy!
Good Idea David McWhinney! Thanks for watching!
Great video man. That was cool running into a fan. That dude was stoked. 😀
Yeah man, he was for sure. Thanks glad you liked it.
Noticed you didn't season the provided pan. You still ROCK KLESH
With that much water flow a 16 inch wide sluice with a classifying perforated metal screen placed in the sluice. Set the box up with a wing dam. And a wheelbarrow..that can double to carry your equipment you could move some serious dirt all day.
Nice rocks for a rock garden!
Thanks Pt0wN973b0iI for watching!
Put the bucket into the water about 2/3 up and you'll wash the mud out in the current. Still have a couple of inches at the bottom to hold the gold.
You'd think that would help but the physics that cause the nugget bucket to function would be compromised if it were submerged. It needs that distance between the end of the funnel and the cup to blow out the light stuff and keep the heavies in there.
I reckon this is brilliant for holiday makers who want to come to the states & pan for gold. Too film buddy very clear. Great.
Thanks Ian Stacey glad you enjoyed it!
from my experience, just a regular bucket, and a classifier, use the bucket like a gold pan, then classify down to concentrates, put them in another bucket and keep going....cheap and easy
That way works just fine as well. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful day out on the river. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 5280 Adventures glad you enjoyed it!
That is awesome. If someone were to combine Mr teslonians "classifier king" foot pedal powered classifier, manufactured by lost river mining with the arbofab bucket filter and the nugget bucket, it would be a dream come true for any enthusiast. It's a real back saver.
I agree Brandon Curry, and thanks for watching!
Yeah that pan was brand new and needs to be seasoned a bit for sure. At least I cleaned off the factory grease the day before.
KleshGuitars
Lol.
Cool video. Never had heard of that bucket till now, pretty cool!
Awesome I bought one a few years ago just don't get to use it much anymore like running my dredge to much. But they do work for sure
Cool!
Probably as much fun as fishing. Too bad we don't have rivers of gold in Finland....
Thanks Maarek Aabmets for watching!
Hi.will it keep catching gold even when the catch bowl is over flowing? In other words how much material can you process between clean outs.I only tried mine today and found that the catch bowl was over flowing with just one good sized shovel. If I have too clean out after every shovel a simple pan is faster.
Nope, the gold is heavier than everything else so the gold will stay .
Great vid, but for 100+ bucks I’d just get a small stream sluice so I could run more material quicker. But hey, that’s me.
Thanks Peter C for watching!
Hey Shane I hope you see this as I'm thinking about buying one 3 years after your vid posted lol. Do you still feel it's worth buying?
Nah, save your money and get a regular sluice. This was impressive at first, but all the plastic parts I don't think it'll last very long.
Just saw this was from 2018 😂
A metal detecting pin pointer would be handy to wave over each tray as you look for nuggets. That way you would never miss one.
@@Klesh Im a metal detectorist, trust me, our quality pin pointers will pick up those smallest flakes.
Shane!!! I was there that day! it was my first time, and thinking back I had thought I saw you but wasn't sure. you asked me how it was going and commented on it being a beautiful day. ahhhh i should have asked if it was you, but i was shy. lol
Oh yeah, I remember you! You were digging in the dirt like a pro! Cool seeing you and next time you'll know it's me.
I totally will!!!
Kinda cool but I'll stick to my 3" dredge
cool river test Klesh - I made a bucket like this ("like this") out of a Home Depot bucket before I ever saw this or anything like it. The video of it is on my channel
Thanks Finding Treasure in Colorado for watching!
You can prospect on the south side they have metal poles that you really can't see that are indicators to how far in you can prospect on the south side of the creek.
Oh ok thanks Chris!
KleshGuitars your welcome Klesh.
KleshGuitars your welcome.
Collect the cons in a bucket then rerun the cons back thru to reduce the amount of trash sands to make it easier to pan what's left.
would it make sense to crush the rocks? like a ton of them, or select ones
Yeah, check my "Crushing Quartz for Gold" video, you'll see what rocks to crush for gold.
Reminds me of a rocker box
