    Critical mistake not going up to Copper Harbor where you would've been able to take advantage of the extraordinary scenic Brockway Mountain drive. Also a neat tree sanctuary of virgin trees that are 4-5 hundred years old at nearby Estivant Pines Refuge just east of Brockway Mountain.
    You really skipped the pinnacle of the trip by stopping before Copper Harbor.

    I’ve had my first FJ on the Crandon track. It was pretty awesome. I hope you guys made it all the way up to the tip of the Keweenaw to Brockway Mountain Drive it’s amazing and the town of gay. Totally worth the drive. Sure wish you guys lived closer I’d love to show you this part of Michigan. It was so cute listening to you trying to pronounce the Keweenaw. Lol I am more of an expert on the eastern side of the UP from Munising east. But the west side of the UP is so amazing as well. Glad you guys had a great time.

      I drove up that Keweenaw road, yes there is a town called 'Gay', and there is a bar, so you can go to a > Gay bar. Just a geographical / grammatical fact

    I fished, hunted and camped all over the U.P. as a kid and we got to most of the lakes in my Dad's old '51 Chevy pickup (2wd). You should head back up during the winter for a snowmobile tour and some ice fishing! You can catch some REALLY big ice!

    Just came back from the U.P yesterday with my daughter. Mostly camping and one stay in hotel in st ignace (firehouse inn, very nice and reasonable, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable) and we made a big loop up and over to basically central U.P and back. Never had a problem with camping and seen plenty of hotels with vacancy.

    Have followed you guys for awhile, your videos have been very informative. I noticed on your Nebraska videos and this video in Michigan, you guys camp in ground tents. Would love to see you do a video on your experience with ticks in these areas (that are known for abundant deer and nymph tick populations). Resisted ground tents for that reason. Most videos online address how to protect against them, more interested in your real life experiences. Few short videos on this subject but you guys have been slot of places. Looking forward to your next video.

      Ticks are a problem anywhere there's grass. Recent years they've been horrible! We're used to them, wearing long pants and socks when we're hiking in grass. We also are constantly, with out even thinking about it, checking for any that are crawling on us. Personally I don't see how a RTT would be any safer from them. Ground or RTT, they're going to get in by clinging to clothes and pets.

    Baja races were referred as all day plane crashes.... drivers described the baja races as chaotic with hundreds of motorcycles, buggies and trucks and the adrenaline rush for the entirety of the race was like being in an all day plane crash.

    Good to see y'all again. Hey Mark, I noticed you run nitto rt,s. They make a 34 inch. I put 34s on my FJ no rub. It made a big difference when rock crawling. Over the 33s I had. I have milestar Patagonia,s but the size is the same. Anyway looks like you have social distancing down pat. Steve from So Cal

  • @stevegreen245
    @stevegreen245 4 роки тому +1

    Hey Mark. I have a question. I think you use the pedal Commander. Or some kind of throttle modification, right? How do you like it for rock crawling? I'm on the fence about pulling that trigger. Steve in So Cal

    • @WanderlostOverland
      @WanderlostOverland  4 роки тому +1

      We have a Sprint Booster. Basically the same thing. We generally run it in the conservative sport range all the time. If we're crawling over boulders we like to turn it off. On the road it's a real game changer though. Much better throttle response.

      @WanderlostOverland  4 роки тому +1

      The Nichol's Trail is along an abandoned railway. The DNR recently sent a grader down it to smooth it out. Unfortunately they kicked this spike up to the surface.

    Your video was great and have inspired my group. We have paddled the entire lower Wisconsin River and looking for another activity. When traveling the 7 hour plane crash trail would a small sport utility vehicle like an all wheel drive Ford Escape be durable and have enough ground clearance with good all season tires able to make it from Crandon Wi to Copper Harbor MI?

    The bridge at 5:35, is that on the main trail or is that the Bill Nichols trail? Also, how long should one plan on it taking to do this trail? Is it truly 7 hours, lol? Was thinking about it or at least part of it on the way up to KOAR next month. Reminds me a lot of the T.W.A.T. Great video as always!

      The bridge is on the Bill Nichol's Trail, just outside of Mass City. There's actually three of them, one after another. I'd spend two days on the trail. There's a lot to see along the way.
