I just watched this whole thing through for the 2nd time today and I can't explain how amazing this content is. This is real journalism. This needs to get more eyes because everything your friend is talking about it so important for us to know about. The discussion on the communist party's propaganda blaming COVID on the US and its effect on their citizens is really important and really hasn't been exposed anywhere else. No mainstream media source was able to get this inside perspective and you did.

What are you talking about it has been widely suspected since the very beginning that the US disseminated the virus. I came to this conclusion on my own by simply thinking who has the most to gain. There is records of the first ones to get sick before anything happened in china. I myself got sick and recovered before covid was even announced. The millitary base Fort detrick is supposedly where it was bred and the millitary Olympics in Wuhan was how it was the US infected china. The only country capable of throwing the whole world in to chaos and death for its own paranoid delusional reasons

What I find amazing is that this video is 100% the same as what Project Veritas produces. 350 million Americans will watch this video and go "I believe this. This is terrible." But the same 350 million Americans will watch a Veritas video and go "I don't believe this. This is not true." The cognitive dissonance is absolutely shocking.

I live in Shanghai and went through this lockdown. Everything the interviewee said is true. It was pure torture and what made everything worse is no one knew what was going on; we were left in the dark all the time. Policies and rules would constantly change, and everything was unclear. This was a few months ago, and the mass lockdown ended; however, my school (I'm also a teacher) closed down this past week, and I'm currently back to online teaching. Children have PTSD on the whole and are stressed about going back into lockdown. It is horrible for everyone to be isolated in an apartment for a month, but for kids, I think it's worse; they need to be outside in the sun playing with their friends.
What messes with everyone is the anxiety of not knowing what is next. Certain areas still go into lockdown to this day. We have to test every day. If your test shows that you have tested longer than 72 hours, you can't go into a grocery store, the gym, uses the metro, etc.
Life is restricted, and so many foreigners have left for the first time (after being in China for 5 years), I'm strongly considering leaving.

Americans don't realise how important our Constitutional rights as individuals are, until unfortunately the time they choose to exercise them is behind the communist curtain. Communism has spread faster than covid especially over last two years here in America. For the first time in modern history the US is holding American political prisoners. Arrested, held without charge, without bail, without trial or defence. Until this Administration Labeled them domestic terrorists and charged them as such. They weren't exercising their rights in China. They were Americans in America. How can we know/care about the ones choosing to live in China If we can't even defend the freedoms protected by law at home?

I caught uncle C as the lockdown was winding down in SH, my god, for the amount of effort (minimal, since all I had to do was sleep it off for a few days) it took to get over it versus the constant psychological pressure of having to worry about being sent off to some unknown (probably janky) quarantine center and daily knocks on the door by the fuzz to go downstairs for testing was unbearable and honestly, an overkill. And most friends I knew voluntarily cut down their daily food intake for a good two weeks, eating one meal per day just to make sure they can ration their food supply over time, crazy to think this took place in 20fcking22.

  • @vintagegamer889

Pudong's situation was substantially worse than Puxi (i'm assuming this guy was in Puxi but he seemed to be aware of the differing start times). If I remember correctly, my community got hit with a 2 day in mid March in Pudong, then like a sort of off-day where they weren't sure how to police it yet, then was in lockdown already all the way through to the city-wide lockdown. Some were better off than others, but we had 0 prep time like those in Puxi (i.e. the city center/downtown) so there was no real panic grocery shopping we were already i lockdown for nearly 2 weeks by the time city-wide hit. I once went about 4 days without eating anything and just drinking tea and instant coffee because my building had a separate GC for group buying that I had no clue about until about a week into the city-wide. The real problem in places like Pudong and Songjiang was that we had access to things like delivery before city-wide, and therefore many people did not start prep-buying groceries (hard to attain anyways during the first two weeks) as the city was saying the city-wide would only last like 4 days. It was honestly worse than some residents in other areas realized because areas like Pudong and Songjiang were also not receiving aid packages until nearly 4 weeks into their own lockdown.

Oh I saw a comment about meds also. Foreigners in SH are probably already aware, but many OTC meds that can be used to treat flu like symptoms are not buyable via delivery without a chinese resident card. This meant that while locked in your apartment for weeks you had no direct access to things like ibuprofen to treat headaches and migraines. I had to take suppository ibuprofen (uo the ass it went) made for babies that my neighbor gave to me.

I ended up being in lockdown for a bit more than 80 days since Minhang's restrictions had started in mid-February. Mandatory testing began on February 12th and would usually be done every other day. A neighborhood pass system was implemented for the communities in Qibao Town but they didn't amount to much since plenty of compounds were already barricaded with that ubiquitous green chain link fencing.
The rooms in my building lacked kitchens so we relied on waimai and the compound's Family Mart until the government forced a complete closure. Our juweihui, Lianming Village, decided to sell us what should have been free food that was impossible for most of us to prepare given the kitchen situation. They then proceeded to resist supplying anything else for the duration of the lockdown. The first week of April was when there was nothing at all to eat and the group buy option never panned out until the last month of lockdown. What really saved us was a quarantine hotel that provided one boxed meal a day and did so fairly consistently from mid-April until the end of May. One can only imagine the sort of gross incompetence that lockdowns in tier 2 and 3 cities engender.

Damn... my birthday is the day you said testing started. I was probably completely oblivious for months as to what people endured in China during the lockdown period and can't imagine the misery. All plans for birthdays, travel, visits to see your family all made impossible. Kids lost pieces of their childhood and adults lost opportunities to improve their life. It's impossible to name all of heartbreaking scenarios that have likely happened and their horrible effects on good people. Hope you and all of Shanghai are OK and getting back to the things you missed most

It was like what happened in Australia for awhile. For awhile we had curfews, we needed government Approval "passports" to vist the next state, protesting was illegal, leaving the country was prohibited and more.
It was truely depressing what people allow the government to do over their own freedoms.
