I had to do a little research to get to the bottom of it, but ultimately Albanians have had a way longer presence in the region then Serbians. Their language is older, deriving from Illyrian, we’re literally pushed back into the mountain during the Slavic invasions of the 700s. Illyrians were around during Alexander the Greats time, and went on the produce some Roman Emperors. Linguistic and genetic evidence supports this claim. Case closed

The Serbian government started the conflict they took away the kosovar Albanians rights away and started to take away there schools and basic human rights , then in 1998 they started ethically cleansing the Albanians and burning there homes in one year the Serbs killed over 11,000 kosovar Albanians , then the kosovars they started to fight back and NATO & USA bombed Serbia in retaliation to there aggression to the Albanians

Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) was declared as terrorist organization by State Department. Under regime of Slobodan Milosevic, growing influence of Russia and expansion NATO politics, U. S. decided to switch sides and started supporting KLA. From that moment terrorists become a freedom fighters. Today we can see many of KLA leaders stand trial in Hag for war crimes against humanity. Nevertheless U. S. kept supporting KLA with money, weapons and eventually with full scale military attack on Serbia. Small country with 7 mil. people attacked by the biggest force in the world and it's allays. We resisted for 72 days... At the ended up with not defeat, but with agreement signed by NATO and Serbia. By this agreement, Kosovo is still part of Serbia with temporary NATO peace keeping forces. Needless to say that agreement was never fulfilled by U. S. One thing led to another and now we have so called "Independent Republic of Kosovo" Many of you don't know, but U. S. and Serbia were allays during WW2 and countless U. S. bomber crews were rescued by Serbian people with big effort to bring them safe home. Only few decades later, U. S. bombs were killing those same people. Despite all this, today all U. S. citizens are welcomed in Serbia. 90% of people speak English and they will greet you with opened heart. You are great nation, but I'm sorry to say yours politics suck.

My buddy who was in the US army and deployed in Kosovo at this time. I asked him who he thought the "bad guys" were in that war/conflict he said there wasn't really any. Found that interesting.
At this time, like in 2021 or something? Anything post 2004 and you wouldn't be able to figure out who the 'bad guys' are as a neutral. That is because there is no war anymore, very little risk of further escalation or any conflict, so it's generally peacekeeping at this point in a fully functioning country.
Had you been here in 1998-99 you'd be able to tell, easily, after witnessing the ethnic cleansing and the massacres that serbs committed against the Albanian civilian population in Kosovo.
