This is the first substantive interview that I've seen with President Kennedy. I'm struck by how intelligent, well-informed, and articulate he is. I don't get the impression that he's mouthing "partisan talking points", as presidents and other politicians of both parties do today.

I believe that any person, man or woman who is democratically elected into a high profile job often had some skeleton in their cupboard, but people would have more confidence in politics and politicans if more were like JFK. He earns the respect of the electorate which doesn't seem to be happen today. Sometimes I think people vote for a politician because there is little to choose among all the candidates. I wonder if there will ever be a time when there is someone even close to JFK in any political regime in any country, but this is what is required, a leader with some integrity and working for the people and not their own interests and egos. There is much to learn from him.

They played as dirty as anyone else, but you didn't see it and good looks does much to hide the ugly facts. Nixon learned all his dirty tricks from the Kennedy's after he went through the Presidential election and many view the tricks that they played on him as his motivation to become Tricky Dick. James Banks Not sure what you mean by "So what". I answered a question why he was the way he was as oppose to someone like Nixon, Reagan, Ford, Carter, Bush or Clintons. Politicians are all dirty, including the Kennedys but we give JFK a pass. The greatest President we had was FDR and he too came from a well to do family, but was more self made than JFK. Yes, JFK was a decent man, but so is someone like Carter, but he didn't have the backing. I think RFK was the great one frankly. The one big problem I have about JFK is that he was a world arms dealer and into military sales abroad for the illusion of a big war and Gore Vidal who knew him well has documented this. Remember, Eisenhower, right before he quite, warned us about that too.

Speaking as a Brit who was only 3 when he was murdered, it is my greatest regret that this great man was not allowed to carry on and complete two terms - I believe the world would have been a much better place had he survived. I care not one jot about the vagaries of his personal life - he was a great, clever, compassionate man who really tried to do things differently and for the better. He was a massive loss. This interview shows it, those films where we see his clever humour show it, his great speeches (I am thinking in particular of the American University speech) show it. It's a great pity we have no one like this now enobling the profession of politics.

Many people forget his outstanding American University speech on June 10, 1963 (compared to his speech on racism the next day, June 11) on the fight with Alabama over admitting blacks to that university that got more publicity. His PEACE SPEECH on June 10, was by far the best speech of his presidency and signaled a shift to peaceful coexistence with Russia (also Vietnam, by extension) and an end to the awful Cold War mentality if he had lived past the 5 1/2 months he only was allowed.

      F. Scott Fitzhemingway I respect everything you're saying except she would have said that - I think she did realize what was lost in his murder. That it would take 50 to 100 years at the least to possibly fill that void.
These guys (the Kennedy brothers) were once a century guys. Their killings were political power moves meant to take things in a direction indefinitely - not for just a few years and they were successful in that effort.

Thank-you so much for posting this video. Truly enjoyed hearing him speak in this type of environment. He clearly showed his intellect, his knowledge and deep understanding of issues, something not many politicians and leaders can do today in this kind of forum. In many ways, JFK still can be a great inspiration for Americans, even 50 years after his death.

First of all, I pay homage to John F Kennedy. What a leader he was! He is the first American leader who justify the term brotherhood. He was the epitome of love, patriotism ,peace and all the positive thinking. He is the first foreign leader who loved our country. He was like a bridge of Indo-American relation. As a true leader I always love Kennedy. Lots of love from an Indian citizen to all Americans and their unforgettable leader

What an incredibly articulate and intelligent man. Any previous books read or interviews listened to he never wavers. Happy to admit where he made the wrong judgment call on decisions, highlights the true difficulties of office & has a very clear strategy on the future. If one compares this interview with the current (or last) president ..............phew - something is really really really out of kilter.

Born 20 years after he was assassinated, and he means more to me the older I get. I think about President Kennedy every day. Imagine what he could do now. Imagine what he would’ve done with 8 years. Look at how easily he draws on history and political knowledge. Look at how honestly and clearly he speaks. It’s impossibly to quantify what we lost when JFK was killed.
He had shortcomings and flaws, but the dignity, intellect, and larger ideals made Kennedy a remarkable leader pushing for a better, more just world.

So I'm not a Democrat, but I've always been fascinated by this President. He really was intelligent and did care and studied hard. People that are sad about the Presidency now need to realize that JFK was TAUGHT to LOVE AMERICA and be PROUD of being American. His parents taught him to study current events every day. The generations after me (I'm from Gen X) have been taught to hate America in many respects which is a TRAGEDY. I was NOT taught this, and I'm GRATEFUL. How can our country PROSPER if the youth is taught to NOT be proud of the USA? I feel like losing RESPECT has hurt our nation. Kids need to be proud of the USA! No the USA is not perfect, but it cannot BE perfect because MEN are NOT PERFECT. I pray the youth will be proud of the USA again! And I'm very sad that JFK was taken from the nation and his family. That was PURE EVIL. There can be great leaders, but we need to change how the younger generations are feeling about the USA. Take care and Best wishes to everyone!

I think he really became more intelligent with the mass amount of books and time he spent alone healing up from one physical disease after another, so he had to do something to pass the time so it was divine providence prepping him up for the future. And it was a tremendous loss but all things that have happened have been building us up and getting us ready to move into the golden age. So what he did and the impact his death made has played a tremendous effect to moving us ahead. So even in our tragedy’s there is a method behind the madness,

The idiot super right people bitch about CNN while they only watch Fox and the idiot ultra left bitch about fox while they exclusively watch CNN. You all are wrong. If you label only on one side no matter what, you're part of our problem. He was a man who carried so much weight of responsibility on his shoulders and yet received little or nothing in the way of support in return. He was driven by noble and sincere motives, but yet, his life was taken before his labor was finished.
