  • Janet from The Empty Nest shows you how to do an easy image transfer using only a laser printed image and Annie Sloan paint.
    Alert! I mistakenly said ink jet, when laser print is preferred. Very sorry for the confusion. Ink jet may bleed.

    I love that you were able to use an inkjet photo. A lot of times you have to use a laser printer.
    Thanks for this video!

    To the viewers - You can also buy chalk on line and flat latex paint at the big box stores to make your own chalk paint. Glaze/color wash can be made as well. Save money. Do it yourself.

      Hello Michael...I am very happy that you enjoyed my little video. Of course, you are more than welcome to use whatever products you are familiar with. I don't hear at any time in my presentation, that this will only work with Annie Sloan paint. At the time of creating this video, I was the owner of a vintage boutique and I was an Annie Sloan Stockist, so it is should not come as any surprise to viewers that I would be primarily using Annie's products. Working with Annie's products was what my viewers and customers wanted and expected. I am very sorry you have a problem with that. Again, thank you for watching and commenting. Merry Christmas! Janet x

    it's amazing and I love the technique. So just one more question how do we finish if we apply gilding gold paint and modge podge print on it.

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet  5 років тому +1

      Amna Shafaat By finish, do you mean a top coat? I waxed mine with Annie Sloan wax. Be sure to add any paint before you wax..wax is always the final layer. Hope that answers your question.

    Just wondering if she used a top coat on the paint prior to transferring the image onto the cabinet???

    oh my gosh! can't wait to try this, guess it won't fit a workshop since it dries overnight ... is the adhesion as good as you get with découpage medium?

      @Janet Metzger, Artist I’m so happy I found this video, I never would have guessed you could actually use your paint to do an image transfer!! Thank you so much for sharing this! 🙏🏻 Then, just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I see you used a hair dryer successfully, which for me is the greatest news since I’m not very patient!!😂 Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for this!!🤗♥️

    Does all of the paper come up or does a thin layer stay?

    • @StudioJanet

      Just the ink from the image remains in bedded in the paint

    Great video. 2 questions : Does it work with Laserjet prints? Does it work with pther brands of chalk paint ( Plaid / Americana )?

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet  5 років тому +1

      Yes...laser printers are best. Those other brands of paint have latex in them or are acrylic...it will not work. That has been my experience.

      so sorry Kiki...just now seeing this question. You can use any color paint, as long as the image you choose can be seen against the dark paint. Hope that helps...Janet xx

    Like your video. Next time can you film horizontally instead of vertically? 🌸 what works really well to remove the paper is an art sponge.

      Hello Ashleigh and thank you for visiting my channel and commenting. I apologize for the vertical video. This was in my early stages of making videos, and I wasn’t aware at the time that I could or should turn the phone horizontally. But now I know😉

      Yes I know that, but this is achieving a transfer with no medium but the paint itself. Thanks so much for watching the video, I appreciate it.
