Nice job catching that Mahi with that tiny hook, that fight kept me on the edge of my seat, especially when you poked it one time and it took off. And nice work filleting with that butcher knife, Hahaha. Your cat looked happy too. Yah you!!
Thanks! Was a mentally grueling battle for sure. So hard to resist putting more pressure on a fish that is dug in deep. I have terrible technique for cutting the meat off the skin so I like this cleaning method a lot!
Such a great first fight!!! That was so skillful to not snap a 15lb test leader!!!! I’m nervous when I hook a 3 pound Omilu with 15lb!! But a Mahi??!! Brah!🤙👏
Thanks dude and man I think the Omilu would be even harder because he's got reef to cut u off on. Lucky thing there's usually nothing for the mahi to use against you!

Thanks braddah was an emotional roller coaster for me too lol I thought that fish was gone for sure when it slipped off the gaff 😂
You definitely finessed that Mahi! Another great day!!!
Yessah thanks man!
Awesome action! That Mahi is a dozer! Thank you for sharing your experience 🤙🏼
Thanks! 🤙🤙
Fun adventure!! Thanks for sharing a great video 🎣🎣🎣
Thanks for watching! 🤙
WOW, nice job with some lucky luck braddah. UNREAL.
Thanks! Was so lucky from having a bait literally jump into my lap to the baby hooks not bending or the light line cutting 🤙
Awesome stuff per usual! Patience paid off😎
Thanks! Definitely need an extra helping of patience for the light line battles
Masterfully done, as always. Adapting to what they were eating and landing the mahi on such light gear. Appreciated the cleaning segment also. Chee!
Thanks! Was definitely one of those moments where I wasn't expecting much but it paid off big time 🙌.
Awesome fight on that Mahi! So cool! I like the end with the cleaning of the fish. I haven’t seen someone skin the fish before the filet. Interesting!

Mahalos braddah 🤙🤙
15lb test!!!!!! Haha I was waiting so long for this vid 😂😂😂👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
lol yeah man so lucky it was this mahi and not a 50+ lb shibi that apparently eat the same flying fish 😂

@@AffordableWahoo 😂😂
Wow nice catch and done really smart. Is that hilo side? I miss that area.
Thank you! This was actually out Kohala side. Hilo is great too but the seas have been rough!
Awesome clip
A flying fish bait cost at least $25 each up here in CA. That is frozen!
Thanks! That's some expensive frozen bait!! Must pay off if a big Bluefin grabs it though!
