Deadline: 5th of FEBRUARY 10 PM PST ⏰
Requirements:
- Render a 4 seconds animation with our 3D Logo
- 24 frames per second
- 16:9 format (1080p or 4k are both fine)
Judging Criteria: The goal is to keep the logo as the main subject and reveal it to the viewer. We are looking for the most creative, aesthetically pleasing cinematic video. This is where you show off your skills to us, go crazy with your animation, or simulation, show off your texturing skills and environment design. Make it funny or scary, just do what you are great at! Everything is up to your creativity, we want to see what you can create in this short amount of time.
Winner Announcement: 10th of FEBRUARY
Prize: USD $1,000 for the 1st place & one or more entries will get a full or part time contract to work with Bad Decisions. The first place does not necessarily receive a contract with Bad Decisions as other factors can come into play, such as availability.

@@retard_alert_ Yes I have actually. I freelance as one. It's no walk in the park. It's called a dream job for a reason. There is more supply then demand since most of the jobs get filled behind the curtains. And the lack of junior roles the supply continues to grow. The industry is imploding on itself because people continue to get laid off and don't hire fresh talent instead they continue to merge with other companies.

Of course brother! If we notice someone just swapped a logo, that shows their lack of skills. We will definitely take that into consideration
There are some questions about whether it is possible to use comprehensive models, whether it is possible to use assistive tools, and finally, how a project can be delivered.
You can ask them all in our discord server. In summary, you can use all the above and you can submit via google form which will be posted soon

too late for me to participate, but my first render I ever did was my pfp, I hadn't actually followed any tutorials yet so it took like 5 hours, but I think I did alright for not having ever used Blender at the time, or any 3D modeling program for that matter

"We thought we'd do something cooler" also known as spec work. This is a scam. You get an intro the winner gets a job and everyone else pours their hard labour into this for nothing? Heck you may even see things you like that you use down the line and that artist just got scammed of their idea and creative work as well. This is clear you guys aren't artists just business guys. Looking for an artist is fine having people submit resumes and stuff is fine. Having potentially hundreds of people do unpaid work for you is not. This is a bad bad look and hopefully nobody does this.

@@davidhruaia2820 nope not all competitions. In this specific case it's for their official branding that they're going to use and profit off the creative effort of potentially a lot of people. If this was like a game jam where all the participants own their work and could go off to make use of it if they do please or an art competition based off a prompt where you still own your art that's fine. In this case you're doing spec work for someone else's brand and IP for free that they may just rip off later even if you don't win. Listen I've seen competitions where they use the winners art and sell merch if the winner gets a portion of the profit or something not just a flat rate that could be fine. Profiting indefinitely off of someone else's work is a little different. You could turn around and say but that sounds like contracting someone for a job. It is similar! However the contracted artists know what they're signing up for. It's a business transaction. This is a call to arms to fans to do their work for them for no compensation. I know it's a gray area and I love fanart and it seems similar but it's a win win in the case for fanart. This one rubs me the wrong way. Look up spec art scams for companies and there's lots of examples. The most egregious one in the public consciousness I can think of was the Billie Eilish spec work drama from a few years ago. There's ways to accomplish this that don't come off scammy. If they asked for fanart and were like "Hey were giving $100 to the winner and we'll sell merch with it!" if you decide to do that that's on you. This has nebulous terms and conditions. It's for their branding. It's what they're going to identify with. People aren't making brand fanart for these guys they're being asked to MAKE their branding... For free. Except one person. Everyone who makes something they have full rights to use our ripoff. It's their branding. I don't like being so negative and I'm sure they didn't intend for this sort of discourse but it needs to be put out there that this is a bad look.
