The RG500 is one of the great racing bikes. Those 2-stroke 500s were incredible bikes. So much raw power and so light. Seeing that front wheel lift under acceleration never gets tired!
I love the 2-stroke engines, the releasing of power at higher rpm's, the sound, the smell... I never owned a 4-stroke, since I was 18 I'm riding only 2-stroke bikes, my first was a Suzuki GT 380 with "Ram Air System", next was a Yamaha RD350 YPVS, Suzuki RGJ 250, I got as a present a Yamaha TDR125, now I ride again a Yamaha RD350 YPVS, the 4th season and I built in V-Force intake valves, replaced the CDI with a ZEELTRONICS programmable controller, to manage the ignition and the opening of the powervalve... I'll never give away this bike, she's my "beast" and I love her like crazy...

Someone hotted one of em up back in the day before I got it and boy did it rip , you'd know better than me but I think it was some factory hop up kit. When I geared it tall, it did about 80mph and would walk past all my buddies on their late model 2 strokes once I started to reel them back in on a long road.

I've wadded a couple tz 250's one at over 90mph at willow springs. I always dreamt at the chance to ride a 500. Maybe it's best I never got that chance and am still alive.
I had one of these rg500 and a yamaha rz 500 when i was 18.....lucky to be alive as i would always take it up to 220 klm/hr before leaving the ON RAMP of Canadian highways 🤟🥰❤😱🌮☠🧛♂️ the sound, the smell, the life.......
I love to see some of these modern day riders ride these old bike. No traction control and a 1/4" wrist crank can mean the difference between a pass or ending up ass over tea kettle in the rhubarb. Those old two strokes were beautiful. Obviously not on the same level by any mean but I had a 79 Daytona special and I LOVED that bike.
I'm not taking anything away from the modern twist and go riders, but after watching this year's classic on the 250's, they all struggled, riding them like 4 bangers through the corners only Anstey rode it like you should.
Full respect for SUZUKI, to supply many RGB500s to many privaters. Without it, 500cc class would not have been able to have full grid races in early 80s.
See you next year, i raced a souped up aircooled r5box and rd head in monello in the 70s . they could be tempramental, but great to ride, also had an rd 500 but never got it to the trace, memorable machinery. ps joey dunlop passed me like i was crawlin and i was goin my fastest ever. great great fun,
@@2strokesmoke857 when I raced a TZ250 4DP, I always used the red powerbands as they worked better with solenoid activated Mikuni 38mms power jet carbs. Grey ones being installed here work better with disc valves.
Ur lying because that doesn’t exist changing the power band a 2 stork make it on its own they. Call it power band because it hits all at ones in high rpm sound wave in the pipe it’s all in the pipe Changing the pipe will make it hit a little different

Man I'd love to have an RD400!!! I'm no brand snob- I've had Yamahammers, Hondas and am currently on a GSXR 1000- I love them all. Always had a soft spot for Yamaha's though as my two uncles used to own a Yamaha shop until one of them got killed on one. But the days of street legal two strokes had to be awesome! Just a shade before my street riding days but always dreamed of having an RD 350/400!!!

I had the 125 ... got it de restricted after I passed my test.. it went from a coughing spluttering slow bike (hardly faster than my RXS100) into a Crackling Spluttering ...... PAAAAAAAAARP FAST little bike.. got about 60% more Power in the top 1.5k revs... Absolute Addictive Hilarity
Thanks for the video. I had one for many years. Everyone loved taking it for a rip, but it was a terrible street bike. Weak 6mm bolts holding down heads and barrels, bum baking so you wouldn't ride it >25*c, 25min before you could take the choke off, used 18L/100km gas like a pickup truck. It's a classic but I didn't regret selling it

Around 70 something % actually... 3% of pollution/carbon/greenhouse gas is from internal combustion engines. 2 stroke could come back with little to no difference in pollution especially with smokeless oils we have now and technological improvements being used like the power valves on snow mobiles. Everything were told is a fucking lie.
My brother in law had one in the 90's we use to race each other from 30, (kph)- upwards. He'd keep with me till 100 (kph) then I'd pull away on my ZX10. He sold it through hearing of gearbox problems. At that time some people avoided them.
I believe with better tyres & shock of latest technology, this 2 stroker will give a run for their money for GP1 bikes. Long live 2 stroke & may Suzuki RG's lives forever.

You do know that this is a RG500 racing bike and not the RG500 Gamma road bike! There's a big difference! If your dad just sold his why are you asking the world how much you would pay? The price and currency varies from country to country! Why don't you Google RG500 for sale or get you dad to help you. Your post is right up there with be best of them!

They're supposedly 95 stock but with a few minor mods 110 was the norm. It doesn't seem like much but when you compare it to a CBR1000 of the same year making 100hp weighing around 575 wet, the 500 at 200lbs less was a rocket since it was around 360lbs.

この手のモーターサイクルはイギリスにもかなり残っているかな!?
イギリスだとTZ-750のレプリカを趣味で製作販売してる人もいる様ですね。MVの3気筒GPレーサーレプリカも有る様ですがTZレプリカの3倍位するそうです。
日本でもそれなりに有りますが、ガンガン走る人は殆ど居ない様で部品の関係も有って仕方無いのかも知れませんね。ヨーロッパは何人もTZ-750を走らせる人がいて部品を製作しても何とかペイ出来る様です。
