Funny, I found SK’s vocal on this track really clear. The Church did have 2 English members, sort of. Steve Kilbey was born in London and grew up in Canberra. Marty Willson-Piper was from Liverpool. The band is still going but with only SK left of the original members. Tantalized is a great track for a driving playlist. Got more if you want em.
I love watching you two get into the music - Mr H just nodding his head and Mrs H swaying her whole body into the song! One of many great Church songs - I'd suggest anything off the "Blurred Crusade" album, which is excellent from start to finish. A British band I often think of as being similar to The Church is Echo & The Bunnymen.
An excellent rocker from the "Heyday" album which was a more poppy and concise record from them. Thanks very much for giving them another airing. Their following album was the fantastic "Starfish", from which you've already heard "Under The Milky Way" and "Reptile". Maybe another track from that record is in order - my suggestion would be "Hotel Womb", great song!
Shortly after this record The Church signed to Arista & singer Steve Kilbey was assigned a " vocal coach " & the album afterwards yielded they're biggest international hit Under The Milkyway & another near hit with Reptile. The dual guitar sound always gave them a rich , full sound. Still going in 2023 !
I think they are the most underrated band ever. From the early 80's and still going strong. Apparently a new album is coming soon (like 27-28th album). Just saw them the day after Independence Day in Seattle. They absolutely rocked out a 16 minute encore of the song You Took.Just outstanding. You would be doing yourself a real musical favor if you checked out more of their catalog.
Yeah, as I said, my friend Mike was in a couple good regional bands, and was a huge fan of The Church, so I heard quite a bit of them before "Milky Way". Thanks for the upload.
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering Yep, you did. But it's a very personal relationship I have with The Church. I used to listen to my 45 of ''Almost With You'' a dozen times a day, which worried my parents to no end. That's where my head was at in 1982.

The Church, were more of an underground band, they had some really great tracks, this being one of them, their music is now considered to belong under the umbrella of 'Goth'.
Hi Haniers, I just sent an email with two very good Mental As Anything links. They'll come in handy when reacting to Mental As Anything's ''Romeo And Juliet'' (note that it's a cover of an old Reflections song - who did it better?) and ''Too Many Times'' (their hit in Canada!). Links are in the email. Please check and use them. Also, please add these: Cold Chisel - Flame Trees (Audio + Video merge 2023) Cold Chisel - Saturday Night (Audio + Video merge 2023) Cold Chisel - Hold Me Tight/No Sense (Audio + Video merge 2023) The Cold Chisel clips above are of very good sound and picture quality. I would also like to ask if you guys can do two Hoodoo Gurus songs in one video. One of them is under 3 minutes and the other is a little over 3 minutes. It would be nice to see a reaction to these two. Hoodoo Gurus - I Want You Back - 4K Remastered - Official Video 1984 Austech Hoodoo Gurus - Like Wow nzoz1985 (be sure to use nzoz1985, even if you have to go into the channel to find it) These two Hoodoo Gurus classics are quick snappy little pop numbers, and it'd be nice to see them in one vidoe. Thanx

@@colrhodes377 I highly recommend it then. It’s one of the greatest songs of the 80’s. They have released 25 albums, including one this year. They are a great Australian band.
good song. could have done IMO without the obligatory 80s orchestra stabs, keyboard horns and what I am assuming is a glockenspiel sound. I wonder if the decision to add these was a producer's choice influenced by the sounds of the time. I also wonder if the band tried to argue against these additions. all speculation. to me they were an alternative band that dipped their toes in the mainstream.
Not familiar with this band nor this track , really quite liked it - only thing that slightly put me off was the similarity to Lloyd Cole and the commotions who were contemporaneous with this band , but that’s not a band thing as I liked a lot of Cole’s stuff . Speaking of which Haniers can I ask for Lloyd Cole - Perfect Skin ? 👍🏴

It's worth investigating the lyrics on this one. Kilbey is a very clever guy. Both guitarists are outstanding
Very much mid eighties. I could dance to this
awesome!
Love to see Too Fast For You, Tear It All Way, You Took, Bel-Air.. The earlier ones

No-one who knows their music would label them "Goth".
What Pups said...
I've been noticing 'PUP' on cars' license plates quite a bit recently, and every time I do, it reminds me of you calling Gillian 'Pups' 😊
