  • A fish I’ve been chasing for a few years - a 50cm (20in) truly wild, Welsh Brown Trout. It was an epic experience battling this fish on super light gear, the Shimano Aldebaran zipping away, Major Craft Finetail bucking and bending!
    This river was devoid of life throughout Wales’ industrial time a few decades ago, running black with coal and uninhabitable.
    I’ve encountered countless large Trout here, with follows, sightings, and losses aplenty. For this reason, the pressure is on every time I hook one!
    This was probably my favourite video to put together, and I’m happy with the result. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.

    I'm late to this party, but that's a gorgeous brown, and it was an epic fight! The stress of watching you try to manage a big fish on light line and sort out the net...I was on the edge of my seat! 😂
    Really well done, and a beautiful combo in the Finetail/Aldebaran. Loved the vid!

      Thanks a lot, he was an absolute stunner wasn't he? Blew me away! Much appreciated as always :) It reminded me of the fish you had in our video, and the drama trying to net that!

    What a nice fish! Very beautiful river, I'm pretty sure there's more of this!
    We've had the same issues here in Romania during this season, let's hope next year will be better!

    Awesome catch on BFS gear. I remember getting my biggest brown on BFS gear, it was such a rush. Came from a small creek I was only expecting small brook trout.

    • @TheFishist
      @TheFishist  Рік тому +1

      There’s not many species in UK freshwater which make me rush like that man, that’s for sure! Appreciate it my friend!

    Awesome fishing video! I love the story behind it, the cutscenes, the editing was amazing bro! I would love to see more like that! Beautiful river, eveything is beautiful in this video. I was felt like I am being there and fishing. Honestly bro, one of the best fishing videos I have ever seen on UA-cam so far. Very well done! Iam new to the fishing BTW and my first catch is a Eel from a small pond. I used an earthworm as a bait. I was expecting nothing on that day... but Iam still so happy as it was my very first catch. Liked and Subscribed! Please, more videos like this mate!

      Well done on taking up fishing, and I'm pleased you've managed to catch something already! Good luck for when you go again!
      Thanks very much for the subscription and the like! I also appreciate the comment massively. Cheers mate!

    Awesome video and great fish, I can tell you put alot of time into that video. I have a couple of questions.
    1. Is that the fine tail rod that is adjustable between 3’8” and 4’2”?
    2. How is the action of the rod? Is it pretty fast or slow like a glass rod?

    • @TheFishist
      @TheFishist  Рік тому +2

      I really appreciate your comment my friend! It did take a little bit of effort to put together!
      The Finetail is indeed the extendable version from 3'8" to 4'2", and the action is definitely not slow like a glass rod. It bends well, but is on the faster side I'd say.
      As you can see from the video, it absorbs the jumps and lunges well from fish of this size!
      I hope that helps mate!

    Great video! Looks very familiar location to where i fish and i had a similar trout there last week, unfortunately he unhooked himself jumping! Gutting!
    I use a budget bfs setup with longer rod , i am looking at the finetail tho, shorter rod better for trout?

    • @arnemueller2112
      @arnemueller2112 Місяць тому

      Maybe too late, but….depends on the water you are fishing. In his case, as far as I could see, a longer rod would have worked as well and with regard to fighting the fish in distance would have been a better solution. A short rod is really helpful fishing really tight spaces where casting is limited due to brush, trees and other obstacles.

      @@TheFishist No worries, and wasn't expecting specific marks or anything - just curious as there are many trout rivers in Wales!
