- Great tires for RAV4 if maximum traction is your aim! However, these will create more road noise than OEM tires and will slightly reduce fuel economy by about 1 mile per gallon.
Great video! I put KO2s on my 4Runner and CrossClimate2s on my RAV4. Both are 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) rated. CC2s are excellent for cars/crossovers. They are quiet and have excellent grip in a wider range of conditions (wet, dry, snowy, etc) and ride really well.
Great feedback, thank you so much! I LOVE KO2s, but do think what you have suggested with the CrossClimate2s would be a better choice for cars/crossovers due to road noise. Thanks for the feedback, for my next set, I will try those for sure! Thanks again!
Ko2 are amazing. Have them on my sequoia. 40k miles and still got a good bit of tread on them.
So true, great tires that wear like iron but still grip very well in a variety of conditions! I like that we don't have to pull them off in the summer! Sequoia is a solid rig!
@@throttle-onJohn yep. Love the ties and my sequoia.
Supposed to pick up a 2022 sienna XLE AWD and RAV4 XSE hybrid AWD this week. But now may be next week.
Thanks for sharing
I love my 2020 RAV4
Awesome! Put black wheels with regular winter tires on my silverado lease and they look great. My next vehicle I will do exactly what u did with the tires that can stay on year round ! Looks Great! We want to downsize and think a Rat could work for us!!
Wheels look good! I like white! I had to put new tires on on my wife’s 2019 XSE highbred at about 30 K They were banana peels went with a good year weather ready with the 3peak Totally changed and still handles like a sports car!
Big thumbs up Now all you need is the black roof Looks good in white too!
Thank you! True, a black roof would be perfect! Oh man, I would love a hybrid, I think my next RAV will be a hybrid. Gives you some extra power and better fuel economy to boot! Glad you found some good tires as they make such a difference!
@@throttle-onJohn The highbred is quick very impressed I drive sport mode when I get in! I would get another one in a minute!!
XSE has a black roof! They have a gray over black that looks pretty cool at first I didn’t know if I liked the shiny wheels and black piano finish on the side molding but it looks different than anything else out there!
pause at 3:23 there is a roofing nail in the tread front tire drivers side
Looks nice🎉
I've put a set of 225/75/16 10 plys KO2 on my 2019 rav4. A bit more robust than your choice (2 more plys).
Awesome looking rim/tyre combination. What about road noise?
A quick note for others that may want to use KO2's in the snow. The "triple peak mountain rating" is not the same as a true snow tire. Many areas, (e.g. the Little Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City) requires chains or snow tires, the KO2's would therefore not meet these requirements. The triple peak rated tires are definitely better in the snow but still not nearly as good as true snow tires.
Thanks for commenting and clarifying. It is a tricky thing on how this is handled state to state as regulations do vary. In Oregon, these qualify as a traction device and it often says chains OR traction devices required so in Oregon, these will let you bypass chaining up most the time. However, in Oregon at certain times they say, "Chains required", then it doesn't matter what you run, you must chain up. But as Will said, in other places regulations vary and we must follow those guidelines. With every tire there are compromises, I like that I don't swap tires on and off anymore because I did that for years, these work well for me as a compromise. However, for ultimate traction in snow, Will is correct, a dedicated snow tire is hard to beat.

There is a big difference in the rubber compound used with a real snow tire, if you use a snow tire in the summer the heat on the tire surface will literally melt under hard braking. I've heard reports of vehicles sliding like they are on ice in summer. Any triple peak mountain snow rated tire can't have the same sticky performance of a winter tire. That said the K02 would be a lot better than any all season tire and with the added benefit of stronger side walls and extra good dirt, mud and rock performance.
I'm hesitant on going up in tire size purely due to the mpg loss . I love the look of 245's but really don't want the loss in mpg . I get 35 mpg on the highway right now with my 21' RAV4 ! 👍
Good call, mine was getting 35 and 37 on hwy when I nursed the pedal with OEM wheels and tires. I kept them so they can go back on if need be. Mpg is a real thing, so trust your gut and stick with your setup. I do love how these grip when I take the RAV skiing, so that was one of my main motives was to gain traction symbol so I don't have to chain up. I miss the higher mpg though! Enjoy your awesome 21' RAV!
@@throttle-onJohn yeah I understand your situation , what mpg are you getting now with the larger tires ?
@@EverydayJ1786 Great question, Unfortunately I have mainly been driving to and from work which is about 2 miles each direction. Next time, I take the car on a longer trip, I'll reset the mpg to see how it does. I did notice that my combined driving indicator dropped by about 1.5 mpg over the next 6 months after changing the tires but that was with in town driving. On the highway, I don't know if it will be about the same drop, better or worse.
Woah how you get 35?? I get about 29-30 combined. Maybe i accelerate too fast😂
Alohaaa braddah.. I like the tires you have in the Rav4... I already upgraded the rims. I need to upgrade my tires this time.. And I like the size what you have in there..245/65 R17. Mpg is not my issue..Have you experienced any tire rubbing at all?? And did you have any lift on your Rav4??. Thank you 🤙🏽
i did get 17"x7,5 - 5x108 - 63,4 - ET52,5 rims and 255/65/17 hankook dynapro at2 tyres perfect fit . and the consuption is same stock setup , the car is too much better , and i decide not to lift it , its looks awesome :D , i have the Rav4 prime , its wery nice offroad :D
@Throttle-On John Are the new KMC wheels the same size and offset as the 17" OEM wheels? I'm interested in swapping tires on my brand new '22 XLE AWD but not yet interested in replacing the wheels. Mine are the OEM '17s but I just Plasti-dipped them and they came out awesome and satisfy the look on our Lunar Rock color scheme but would love to stuff a bit more tire under there. Curious if the offset changed creating a better fitment scenario. Thanks!
Excellent question, the offset of these wheels appear to be the same to me as OEM, but my tire guy ordered the wheels. I really believe they would work on your OEM wheels but maybe your tire guy could let you order something different or return if they didn't happen to work.
@@throttle-onJohn Thanks for the reply. I have since replaced wheels and tires with KMC Trek 17x8 with a 35mm positive offset and Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail 245/65R17 tires. The Lunar Rock RAV4 looks absolutely bitchin! No significant changes with comfort, noise, or performance so far and it's been several thousand miles since the change. We're loving the machine!
@@OhMySack Awesome, that sounds like a perfect choice to me! Nice work and thanks for letting us all know as that sounds like a better choice with less rolling resistance, still looks cool and offers exceptional traction! 👍 No increased noise either, just perfect! Enjoy!
Is your rav4 lifted?
what's the offset im trying to put tires on mine but im confused with the offset
Any offset with the wheels? No rubbing at all? Thanks for the video!
I wish I knew the offset, my tire guy ordered them for whatever fits a RAV4, there doesn't appear to be a different offset than stock to me. No rubbing at all after 20k miles and they have held up well, just have to be sure and rotate. Installed wildpeaksl trails on next rav4 and while they give a little better fuel economy and are a bit quieter, they don't look near as good!
where to buy the rim? can you send us a link?
Hello, just wondering if the 245s would still fit on the stock 17” Toyota rims?
Tire made in USA? Legal to upsize from stock in your state? Mpg before and now?
The BF Goodrich tires are made in the USA. So far, with mainly mixed driving, it appears to have dropped mileage by at least 1.5 mpg. However, I really need to do an extended highway drive to see what it does to freeway driving.
Hi.. please u told yor fuel economy is now better ? so u have lower fuel consumption ? What are numbers with normal pneu and these in galons or litlers on 100 km ... thx
lower mpg= higher l/100km
Did you have to lift the Rav4?
X2! Did u get it lifted?
I went with the open country at3 barely any road noise
What size?
Debating between Toyo or wildpeak
What is the width an offset of the 17 inch wheels?
Good question, I will dig through my paperwork and see if I can figure this out for you.
245/65/r17 if I don’t lift up will be ok?
My vehicle has these tires for 18k miles, no lift or mods and no rubbing. I need to find wheel backspacing as this may be a factor too. They fit like a glove and look like they belong on the vehicle. Two cons are more road noise and some reduction in fuel economy.
@@throttle-onJohn hi. Can I ask what kind of road noise? Is it like you can feel little vibration in your foot ground?
@ 1:34 did you just say “2019 Ford RAV4” ??? 🤣
Lol! I sure could have, I own a Ford Bronco and some old and new Mustangs. 😉
A ford rav 4?
Lol
"2019 Ford Rav4"... interesting lol
