    Thanks for posting this! I used to change my oil on previous cars...until... I drove over my ramps 1 too many times. That gets old quick. I decided paying someone to do it was worth the money. But since I got the RAV4, which doesn't need ramps, I figured it's time to save some $. Thanks again!

    I recently got my oil changed at Valvoline, and they did not replace all of the screws for the access door/cover guard. Do you know what screws are the correct ones? I have the correct part serial number for the actual cover just no the screws. Also, will be using your video to change it myself next time to not deal with this again.

    You can add a little oil to the filter to aid in priming. The element will absorb it and make the light go out quicker.

    Not at all unbelievable. This is obviously a car that has never been off-road and probably seldom driven in salty areas. Almost any modern car that traveled the same roads for the same miles as this one would look similar.

    I recently added Rokblokz mudflaps to my 2023 Bronco Black Diamond. I like how they mount, but they do not provide long enough screws to properly assemble the front flaps. Rokblokz has added a metal plate to stiffen the assembly on the front plates, but did not update the screw lengths to accommodate the thicker stack of material. The provided 1/2" long 10-24 barely engage one thread on the holes which go through the metal stiffening plate. I ordered 9/16" 10-24 screws to assemble these properly, and this fit well. I made Rokblokz aware of this problem and their response was: "Thanks...but we know what we are doing." Not a great response, especially given the cost. Good engineering practice we teach at Caltech is that screws should engage 1.5 screw diameter. For a #10 screw, (0.190" dia.), this means the screw should thread in 0.285", which is 7 turns.

    Easy to get at hell. What about the whole front cross member in the freaking way. All my ford trucks its been right on the bottom where there actually is nothing in the way. My wife has an expedition and ill never change the oilf again. Pain in the butt. Especially when the idiot who owned it previously put the filter on torqued to about 100ft lbs.

    After about 20 oil changes with those blue crush washers, they seem to corrode after a short time and the drain bolt loses it's tightness and may cause an oil leak. I toque them down pretty good after seeing so many where you can take the drain bolt off by hand. And I am using toyota branded ones, not chinese or anything.

    Some tips for us guys w/o a lift. I have not found a way to remove OEM skid plate w/o lifting front end. So if there is a way, I'm ready to learn. Amazon has a magnetic tipped on a flexible type spring on a screwdriver handle. So once the oil plug is broke loose, the tool keeps hands clean and unscrew to remove drain plug. Next saving your old residential HVAC air filter; cut a piece and lay it on your drain pan. Now, drain oil NO splash. Saw this on another channel. Tried this on brother's Ram 1500 and it worked. NO SPLASH whatsoever no speckled faces and arms. Motovix oil filter wrench is a work of art. i store mine in the original box, it us just a beauty and works perfectly. When installing new filter, the OEM spec of 18 lb-ft seems slight but you will fight the removal. The O-ring does the sealing, so as stated, tighten until housing comes to a stop and it's done. Indexing is great idea for consistent re-install. Use the OEM Maint. App and set all your maintenance items. ATF, front/rear gear lube, prop shaft, battery, coolant, PS fluid, wipers, brake inspections and so on. Great tool to track maintenance items, worth the time to use it. Nicely done video, TY....

    @Throttle-On John Thanks for posting this video!!! It’s giving me the he confidence to do the same on my ‘02 Rav4 L! Regarding the silicone gasket maker, why is it only applied in the area near the timing chain, and not over the entire valve cover sides?

    • @antonimuss
      @antonimuss Місяць тому

      I believe it’s cause there is a seam between the head and timing chain cover, creating a potential leak if not sealed
