@@What_The_Doot in my first survivor playthrough, I had two slugpups (one spawned is a shelter with me and I found the other in chimney canopy) and i managed to keep them both alive until subterranean where one of them got snatched by a monster kelp and after that I was terrified of losing the other one (i was clueless and trying to ascend with the pups) so I avoided literally everything around me until i reached depths where the three guardians were waiting. I had no idea why they kept pushing me backwards because I had max karma and then they proceeded to slam dunk my last slugpup into the ground I'm still sad about it

This is pretty cool, nice to see this is sort of trend catching on just having a slugpup on a play through cuz their cute. some info: 1. slugpups have personality types 3 are hard coded: energy, bravery, and energy, 3 are influenced by those: nervousness, dominance, and aggression. 2. slugpups like different foods based on their personalities (for hubert he is most likely nervous bec nervous slugpups like berries while for example energetic slugpups don't) 3. energetic slugpups will tug on your hand while the more lazy ones will take a nap if you're idle.

Monk _is_ actually better designed than they're given credit for - and that's because of reputation. _Global_ reputation. Monk's whole shtick is being more at peace with the wildlife, and killing any creature lowers global reputation. So while the reduced damage sucks, its specifically to serve the playstyle of upping rep and getting things to like you (lizards en masse can even become passive at high region or global rep), pushing the player to engage with that system more. If you're in the habit of constantly killing things, you're never at peace with the world. Plus, the lower damage does allow for some more damaging of creatures without killing them to send them scurrying off to their den. As for the lower breathing... hell if I know, I can't even pretend to get that, that just plain sucks
My best guess as to why the lowered breathing is there is that, because monk is meant to be the easy mode, they wanted to try to prevent players accidentally going to subterranean as their third area (which would be VERY rough). Since the main place the breath puzzles are in is drainage system, and and most of those take place along the route to filtration system. So making those extremely difficult (or maybe impossible without bubble weed? I haven’t tried) keeps new players from accidentally stumbling into the end game area, on the easy mode. Still not very fun but that’s my best guess as to the logic behind it.
Nah, just make a damaged mass rarefaction cell (since gourmand can just do that for some reason) and murder the guardians so they can’t stop you from bringing your slugpup with you.

Btw if you finish gourmands playthrough, during survivors playthrough you can bring your pups to the alternate ending (not ascending) and itll actually showcase them in the ending cutscene (you need 2 or less slugpups) sadly its not the same for monk in their alternate ending but it is canon in monks ending that survivor brought 2 pups back (survivor is shown with 2 babys during monks alternate ending cutscene)

I once beat artificer without killing a single scavenger unless I was forced to like cutscenes I killed the boss by getting it to one hit giving one of the scavengers in the crowd a bomb and making it throw it at me killing the boss this also took me a week to do
There's a way to force spawn a pup in your second cycle on survivor. You need to get to a den before 1min 22 seconds and push against the left wall and let go of all buttons at 1.22 so the screen goes dark at 1.31 then when you get to AU_37 there will be a pup there or in the shelter above that. It totally works I did it on console yesterday
I play rainworld with a controller because i already have my muscle memory developed on keyboard and adjusting to rainworlds controls would be painful, however for me a controller is a blank slate
I primarily use controller but I hate using the joystick so I just use a dpad. Keyboard controls simply don't compute in my brain, I've played every platformer ever with a controller. My brain simply doesn't have room to learn keyboard on platformers.
I did know Rain World was so horrible to Slugpup's, under certain endings. There are many thing about Rain World that are incomplete, lore and game mechanics.

Fun Fact: While this doesn't happen normally, Slugpups have a 100% spawn rate in Rubicon if enabled.
In other words, all Slugpups go to hell.

I think the devs also agreed that the lower breathing sucks, 'cause there's an option in Remix Settings that gives Monk 1.2x breath of normal. 😆
