I enjoy watching you work on oil furnaces even tho I have a gas furnace. I bet I could fix an oil burner funace in my sleep after watching enough of these!
I bought me a new work truck last year out of Arizona save $22,000 glad to see you back on the road happy with your new truck you and Miss Molly styling and profiling
Nice job Steve. Back to the crusty old furnaces..Just like the old days. If it acts up again, it may be worth it to change that check valve. It may be trickling back to the tank over time if left unused for a few days. If it were my furnace, I would have you change it over to ground level oil line and be done with it..
I think you got a lot better truck...hope it last you for a long time. Don't be too hard on the helicopters, all of us watching are looking over your shoulder as well. We just like seeing what's going on. You are in his home and he is paying for the work... Keep up the good work and take care out there.
@@craigharding475 Never said he was anything but pleasant to the guy. Just commenting on his mentioning of helicopter people in general. We are all looking over his shoulder, why complain about the homeowner doing the same?
@@andrewpatterson8770 No offence intended, Andrew. I take your point. I was just surprised at how Steve even seemed to enjoy the interaction, after his initial comment in the truck, and I was wondering if you agreed or not. The funny thing to me is this...if this guy watches the vid and discovers what Steve had predicted about him (and it turned out to be accurate by the way) What will HIS reaction be, then? @@craigharding475 Yeah, I have often wondered since he comments on trying to hide the camera from people and then posting the video later. How do the people react if they end up seeing the video. Especially if they talk about something personal in their lives... Best to ya as well.

Glad your happy with the new truck! But bad rapping the old one is really not fair. You had that truck along time. You did make money with it. As for heat, keeping the door closed will be good winter, and the ac will freeze you out.
the old one was terrible piece of shit = money pit . i could of bought 20 new trucks with the money i spent on it . i will rag on it when even i can . international diesels' suck
Steve I have a oil burner tripping out on safety, however it shuts down but, when it calls for hot water it starts right up. When it heats up it shuts down and the Carlin controller goes blank, pretty hard to diagnose when it's blank? Any help would be appreciated!
Gasoline engines warm up way faster than diesel because they have a throttle that closes at idle diesels are wide open all the time they almost never warm up you'll definitely like the heat having a gas job.
problem with heat pumps in the northeast is they aren't really rated for the harshest temperatures so then you have them running 100% duty cycle for days sometimes and the house is still cold.. maybe in a new home that is super insulated but not a retrofit.. and then that house is probably baseboard so you're running ducts all over.. it gets expensive even on a ranch house. Also you got the governments wanting everyone to move to electric heat now but its not going to work .. he should run what he has until its beyond fixing.. its going to be the best bet.. and then throw a foot of insulation in the attic and buy a case of caulk and seal the house up the best he can.
@@zippythechicken This is especially true when it's chugging away at 100% burning power at current winter rates, or heaven forbid it falls back on the resistance heat. I'm at a friend's place in the southwest now. Off-peak hydro power is a little under 8 cents. You'd be nuts to run anything but a heat pump here. Back home? You'll have my natural gas over my dead body. I know what I pay in the summer to run the AC...I ain't paying that in the winter too!
@@jblyon2 seriously i've actually considered building a big tent over the house made out of insulated foil or bubble wrap insulation for the summer.. big giant hoops over the house and you hit a switch and rolls of it cover the house and reflect the sun... honestly though I think I'm gonna get an attic fan and mount it in a window to get the colder air into the house at 4am and then after dark.. box fans in the window aren't enough.. should help in spring to early summer heh. but super insulated homes are the way.. you build 2 stud walls on the outside walls of your house to give you a foot of wall space and you fill that with a foot of insulation and you can heat your home with a candle.. Maybe in another life when I win the lottery at 18 and can do it all over. Until then I'm repairing what I got and hoping it lasts. heh
My propane is alot cheaper than oil. 950 to heat my house this winter season and I'll have some left over for next season. My neighbor is on their second tank full at over 1200 a tank. Maybe propane is more expensive in NY.
Steve, you invested a lot of work and research on that new truck. It is your money-making "home away from home!" Beware of Murphy`s Law. Be on guard for some of these idiots that seem to want to play "chicken" at stop signs and traffic lights and cut out in front of you. There seems to be a trend towards aggressive driving lately, among other things: like no valid license, insurance, inspection, and hit-and- run "accidents".
Hey Steve its Makita man WILDE does not sell the 1/2 in. internal pipe wrench anymore so you have to get it from TRIDENT SUPPLY now I just thought I would let you know because I noticed you sent people to WILDE. Peace brother and Molly
Steve, I have question. I have Carlin boiler and it won't shut down. It is about 5 years old. We recently got oil and now I'm at a half tank of oil already. Any suggestions? Thank you and love the vids.
I`m a DYI only, but you could have a thermostat issue where it keeps calling for heat. You might shut the furnace down, as needed, at the breaker if necessary.
You changed the nozzle from .85 GPH to .75 GPH and reduced the air adjustment. How do you know how much air to adjust? I wonder if you have a zero smoke? or if you have too much excess air. I understand that too much excess air on the flame will cause the fire to burn colder. Also too much excess air will cause the heat to move thru the heat exchanger faster. If the heat moves thru the heat exchanger faster there is less time for the heat to exchange into the house ducts so more heat goes up the chimney. Don't you want to know what the temperature going up the chimney is? I would never change a nozzle without adjusting the flame with a combustion analyzer. Do you own a combustion analyzer? An I like your new truck. Good luck and many happy miles and many happy smiles! :)
I was told that the Suntec oil pumps were hard to get few months back can anyboby confirm that amongst all the other crazy shortages lately .I think its over ...
have have no issue having parts i purchased put in my vehicle. some things i do let the garage get, but the parts i get i get because chances are the mechanic will get a more expensive part than i want. also it can be fixed faster because the part is already there. but ya some places will do it and some wont.
Kind of reminds me when the body shop fixed my truck ,the insurance co. said I had the right to ask for genuine Ford parts so I asked especially because I knew the after market air dams turned white after one year. They said ok well one year later the air dam turned white so I looked it was after market. can`t trust them all it`s only money.
gas isn't bad if you have natural gas to your home but I'm down here near philly and maybe 5 years back it was really cold and the pressure from the street dropped off in different sections of philly.. I wasn't effected but thousands were without gas and then what do you do. If you can't get fuel oil maybe you can get some diesel to hold you over.. propane guy can't always come out if its an ice storm or something... .....
