It did my heart good to see you bring it back to life! Especially once I realized it was a rare 1990 V-spec! ~ I own a white 1992 I bought new. 150,000 miles later I can count on one hand the number of times its let me down or been in shop overnight. Bulletproof little cars ~ cheers from Florida's Space Coast.
Thanks for the comment! Such an impressive car! Was delighted with the result! Keep an eye out for new episodes soon! 🇺🇸🤝🇮🇪
Some good first maintenance items are the fuel filter, the clutch slave cylinder and the transmission oil. Often overlooked on the MX-5 but it makes quite the difference when driving it. Very easy parts to get to as well!
Thanks man! Such a sweet little car!
@@CannibalCars Happy to help man! I have probably touched every part on these cars by now having owned 3 so if you have questions let me know! Almost forgot to add that you should check the rain drainage ports if the car is stored outside. There are holes behind the seatbelt pillar when the top is down, make sure there are no leaves and such in there because water will fill the sills and it will rot from the inside out. I use a trombone brush to pull trough the holes.
@@ThijsVanDalen Thanks for that! This had a cover and the sills are almost entirely intact, miraculously.
Proper underrated channel this
Thank you! Spread the word and share an episode for us! 🤝
Great content man and a brilliant little car I have the exact same vspec and I've owned it twice over the past 16 years. Reliability is amazing. It has never let me down and apart from a battery and calipers all round is pretty much original. I've spent the last week daily driving it as my wife's XC60 is in for repairs and she's nicked my car 😂
Yeah I was very impressed with it! Found it's service history and it had receipts for new calipers now you mention it.
Not gonna lie, seeing this being taken from the garden and being built back up really put a smile on my face!
Thanks man! 🤝
The excitement when I see you've posted a new vlog! It's absolute gold lad🤙🤙
Thanks Leon! Glad you like it! It was a fun episode!
Was looking forward to this episode , and you didn’t disappoint. Great show Jack👍
Thanks Dan!
Epic finish, perfect for a trip to Ballybunion
Great result! Thanks Brian! 🤝
I swear to god iv been watching Americans doing these videos for years. I only recently found your channel and no word of a lie it's my new favourite to watch. Some crack lad.
Thanks a million Martin! I was the same! Watching lads doing these amazing old muscle cars and thought 'someone needs to see all the shite cars being saved too' 😁😂😂👋
@@CannibalCarsthe wife dose be wondering what I am in stitches at watching. Sharp as a tack. I never heard of the scratch before Class band. keep the content rolling lad. ⛧
Quality story telling lads - really enjoyed the journey on this one👍
Thanks John!
Pop up lights really were the pinnacle.
Like, they'd look good on bicycle!
Best one yet man. Used to have 2 of these yokes when living in the UK. More great entertaining content. Please keep them coming
Thanks a million Michael! Really enjoyable episode to do! More stuff filmed so keep an eye out!
Loved it! Me & my mate have done this sort of thing with many a hanging Mx5/Eunos. Great work!
Great stuff! Nice cars to work on!
Class as always lads. Keep it up
Thanks Keith! More coming soon!
This was a fun one thanks I really enjoyed this !!!!
Thanks Gino! 🤝
Best one yet , class lads
Thanks Darryn!
That's class lads... first time I was pulled over was in one of those, brand new, fresh off the boat from Japan, no reg plates and I was a 16 year old apprentice with no license. Garda saw the trade plate and said go on then... good times. And I'm still listening to The Scratch
Yes! Can't beat that! The Scratch have great driving music too! 🤝
Fantastic , shows how good Mazdas are. I can’t wait to see what you find for your next episode 👍😎
Thanks Ben! Great little car! Was very impressed with it having never driven one before!
Hey lads the vlogs are really great
Keep them coming 😁
Thanks Declan!
Well done, great vid
Thank you!
Always rad vids! Never disappointed. The level of backyard mechanics just to make stuff work is brilliant and something I do alot myself 🤣🤣 gotta keep my old ke70 rolling 👌👌
Backyard mechanics is the best kind of mechanics! 😁👋🤝
@@CannibalCars could not agree more 🤟 backyard mechanics rule.
beautiful, well done lads
Thanks man! 🤝
Whoever parked that car on a plastic sheet and left the brakes off did it a great service in terms of avoiding rot and binding. I usually hook up a circuit to the fuel pump from a battery at the rear and pump it out without cranking. Great to see it running again, I love me a non runner.
Yeah that damp proof course that was put down literally saved that car, there was no rust!!
As soon as I saw that pump I knew it would work. It's remarkably clean considering how bad they can get. I suspect it's been replaced at some point. Well done lads at keeping another MX5 going they are getting fewer and fewer thanks to rust.
Yeah maybe it was! Had a nice stack of receipts for some major stuff so was a well minded car!
@@CannibalCars you've gained another subscriber. Worth it for the craic alone
@@Spookieham Appreciate that Graeme! 🤝
Shared on Mx5 ireland, hope you get more views soon!
Thanks Anton!! Appreciate the support!
Was not expecting to see a video from channel.
Everyday is a new day.
There's almost nothing wrong with that car now, its clear for donedeal! A testament to how well Mazda made them.
No joke! It just fully came back to life! Some pads and discs and a roof and I'd have chanced a test! 🤷♂️
this was brilliant lads well worth the wait. class car too.
Thanks Gerry! Have you checked out our Kadett rescue? The episode previous to this?
@@CannibalCars Ive watched every episode the really long one was my favourite
@@gerryneill1805 I like the long episodes too, gets all the detail in, pity not everyone agrees! Check out Mustie1 on UA-cam if you haven't already, he does great in depth episodes on rescuing all kinds of stuff with engines. Really good stuff.
@@CannibalCars the longer the better. I'll definitely check him out pal cheers for that
@@gerryneill1805 He is the Daddy of UA-cam will it runs!
Hard to believe this was made the same year as my wife's mk2 golf! It's worlds apart! Oh and I've done that trick of taking a photo instead of a video myself a few times!
Crazy car in 1991 alright! Have you ever done the no audio trick? I'm an expert at that 🤦♂️
Great stuff lads👌👌
Thanks man! 🤝
I've had one of these for ten years and it still makes me laugh like a tit. Great craic lads.
I can see why. Was a really fun car to drive and way faster than I thought!
bulletproof wee cars! this is pretty similar to how mine started out exterior wise, grab some cheap polish and she'll be shiny in no time! Class video as usual, I'll be back here as soon as i break mine to see how to fix it hahah
Thank you! Yeah great result! Always welcome back!
Best channel
Thanks man!
Well done! You could sell it now and don't forget to put the boot/roof rack back on. Keep up the brilliant and entertaining work. What's next?
Thanks Nick! We did sell it! To a young guy who wanted to do it up with his Dad! Great ending for it!
Bravo ! Looking forward to the next episode
ye're nuts the lot of ye! Great one again (and I did watch the Jag ep, how dare ya!)
That looked too easy though. I want to see you do this to a car that even as a daily driver and relatively newer than that Mazda, would always leave me asking every morning;- "will it start?"
(aka every car I had in the 80's/early 90s).
Don't you worry Roy! The next episode is faaaar from easy! 👀👋🤝
Unbelievable lad
Thanks man!
nice.. work.... regards from Monterrey Mexico...
Thanks Victor!! 🇮🇪🤝🇲🇽
the micra in the background or whatever it was really cracked me up. surprised how good of a condition the miata looked on the outside
Yeah that car is living its best life now!
This is awesome
I’m currently getting my 1990 back on the road. Similar story too, we got it a few years ago and I believe it’s been parked for nearly 10 years.
I found the odometer today and saw that it has 243000 mi (391000 km) on it! I have no idea if it’s accurate or not though lol
Sweet man! Bet it will come back around like a champ!
@@CannibalCars it fired up first crank when I put a fuel pump in it!
@@jose11234567898 Doesn't surprise me after this car!
Nothing like a good auld corolla to the rescue! There isn't a cooler feature ever fitted to a car than pop up lights
Agreed on both counts!! 🤝
I wouldn't fancy any of that Lucozade that came out of that fuel tank
Pure varnish! 😂👋
I watched the jag episode lol and you're definitely the extreme Irish version of VGG 🤘😈🤘
Also I have one of those, gonna help my son ls swap it and make a drift car.
What a compliment. Huge fan of Derek!! Thanks Brett! I thought this car was quick, it would be insane with an LS 💪💪💪
🇺🇸🤝🇮🇪
@@CannibalCars me too Derek is awesome! I didn't get to meet him but I got a picture with Jess! My son took my job working at a company that builds ls swap harnesses, and I've done a couple swaps myself.
@@CannibalCars idk if you remember but I subed on your first video
@@brettwalker5579 That's cool man! LS swaps are.making an appearance over here finally. Only a handful.
Always appreciate a sub and a view. 🤝
Just found you on Instagram don't know how it works though lol
I hope you get to keep the car that you got her going 😂
Sure did! Thanks for watching! 👋🤝
New subscriber!! Do you sell the cars on once running for projects or do you keep them
Thanks! Usually sell to fund the next episode! But all depends! We still have the beetle. You should check that episode! 🤝
I guess we'll just never get to know what was in the glovebox 😅
The remote for the radio, a new pair of swimshorts behind the passenger seat and a carwash token! 😎 We filmed it but it wasn't up to much!
Uber rare, done deal €25000👌job done. 😁😁
Jesus is that a Sony active black in it?! Time to search for the remote!
😂😂 Remote was in the glovebox! 😎
Great episode, fellow mx5 owner, just have mine back on road after 4 yrs in shed, started first turn of 🔑, hope someone going to get it cleaned up ??
Thanks Andy, a kid and his Dad took it to do up so was great to see it getting another chance at life! It would still be in the grass otherwise!
I have just got one that was lying up for a few years. Did you have to do much to get it though m.o.t / n.c.t
@collie sheridan oil, filters, one seized caliper, couple of small rust spots on door jams & two front wings, the rust was alway there but NCT are stricter on that now too , I had the wings luckily already
13 years idle! The MX-5 roadster made for driving!
Absolutely great car! 👋
is it forsale? would look well beside my 93 s spec eunos
Young lad and his father bought it to do it up! Was a lovely car in fairness and no sill rust amazingly! 👋
Did you N.C.T it ? If so did it take much to get her though ?
I did not, I sold it to a father and son as a project. I'd say brake pads, discs and maybe some brake soft lines would have got that through a test, oh and tyres. It drove really well! 👋🤝
2nd!
👀
@@CannibalCars Is there going to be more episodes of this car?
@@ursixx Not this car but an upcoming car will be a multi episode car!
ROCKET LOLLY if you know you know lol
