Word-- SPLIT LOOM for ALL wires running under the trailer. The wiring insulation is never meant to be a wear barrier. That job belongs to the split loom.

I know what split loom is. I've got rolls of a few different sizes. Split loom works great under the hood where everything is protected. I have severed split loom with sharp metal cutting it. Split loom allows water, mud and other debris inside the split. I want to throw junk cars, Jeeps, motorcycles, raw steel supplies ... whatever ... on it and get the job done. I'm going after a YJ frame in the morning. That trailer has been dragged through many grown up fields to get cars and lots of other beat up junk. I've had sticks snatch the wiring harness from under it while in split loom. I don't want to have to baby it looking after some thin plastic cover. Running the wires through tough flexible tubing allows sealing each end to protect it. The thick tubing protects it from cuts and abrasion. Thick tubing can be clamped solidly to the frame with metal cable clamps. I use split loom inside the interior, under dash, or even under the hood where it is pampered and protected. Not under my trailer or my Jeeps where they are subjected to rocks, sticks, water, mud and who knows what else. But .. thanks for the suggestion and thanks for checking out the video.

@@Poweraddicts I recently rewired mine and actually ran the wiring through electrical conduit bolted tightly to the frame. I had the luxury of setting the trailer on its side to better access everything. Put a new floor on it, too. Treated the wood with a used oil/desiel mixture before installing. The old pressure treated wood only lasted about 5 years. Good luck with the YJ.

@@research903 I've got about 80 feet of electrical conduit. I needed my trailer asap so I really didn't have time to do that. That is a very good idea, it would protect the wiring very well. When I first got that trailer the wood was rottening out and was missing in some places. I put that steel floor in and never looked back. Thanks!!

aren't you required to have a fog light on a trailer in the US?

Brake, tail, and turn is all that is required in my area. I can't speak for all states, but in Tennessee I'm good to go. Thanks for checking out the video! Have a great day!!
