Sarah Parish is Amazing! I didn't know anything about her until this Awesome show & her performance as Lucrezia stood out for me. I have since watched her in numerous roles she has played. Medici is still my favorite though.
I never realized this: Guiliano warned him that there were rumors of a possible attack and Lorenzo not listen to him, but then, when they were being attacked, Guiliano managed to get away from Francesco and grab a knife, he could have tried to figth back but he decided to run and give it to his brother because he knew that the main target was Lorenzo. Guiliano sacrificed himself for and to protect his brother, and Lorenzo had to live the rest of his life with that on his conscience
@littlemouse7066 true, Guliano was caught by surprise and had no chance to defend himself, he died on the spot from stab wounds to the head. Lorenzo was wounded in the neck but he managed to escape and hide inside the church
Historically Giuliano de Medici was far from helpless. He was the best fighter between the two, but had been wounded few days before, falling from the horse while hunting. The conspirators went to pick him up at home, to convince him to attend mass. Giuliano almost always wore the mail shirt, and carried his hunting knife, but in his condition, that day, that weight bothered him, so he had neither. One of the conspirators, as they met, hugged him, to make sure of that.
Some actual historical tips that this series has forgotten: 0:25 Jacopo de' Pazzi was not in the church during that Mass. 0:37 Giuliano received his first knife shot in the chest by Bernardo Bandini Baroncelli, who was beside the young Medici. Then Francesco finished him with knife slashes in the head and in the chest with such ardor that he injured his own leg. 1:18 Lorenzo didn't knew about Giuliano's death until he left the sacristy. This because the two brothers were in two different areas of the cathedral and not close to each other as seen in the scene 1:39 the facade of the Duomo was built only 4 centuries later 1:48 Lorenzo did not fight against the assassins but was dragged by his friends (Poliziano was one of them) into the sacristy of the Cathedral. He only had time to defend himself from Maffei's stab in the throat. That's why he didn't knew anything about Giuliano's murder. I've appreciated the actors performances, but I think that the authors should have been followed more History (with capital "H")
The way Guilano's mother keeps asking if they left him after he gets stabbed. My heart just broke 😭 It's obvious they can't go back out without facing certain death , but her mothers love overrides even the basic survival instinct.
Definitely one of the saddest and most heartbreaking scenes I’ve ever seen in a show. I loved his character so much. You can really feel the pain and tension from his whole family reacting to his death.
Pazzi: Lorenzo Medici could become a tyrant and take over Florence if he wanted to, let's kill him and his family before he gets the chance! Lorenzo: [Embraces tyranny and takes over Florence as a result of his brother's death] Pazzi: *Surprised choking Pikachu*
You can't handle the truth The Medici's were popular with the public but were hated by and slandered by nobility because they were originally wool merchants who climbed the social ladder. Their ability to become rich nobles threatened the concept of being born into nobility.
You can't handle the truth Eventually, like all rich people, power corrupted them. The Pazzis were no better or worse. They also lost favor with the people.
I would like to add something to this story. I remember watching a documentary about Lorenzo de' Medici when I was in middle school with a lot of written reference of book of that time and I dare say that what happened in reality was even more frighting. Lorenzo didn't notice that his brother was dead before entering the sacristy as he was scorted by some people. He would scream his brother's name but no-one would tell him what happened. As soon as he could get out of that room people formed a shield so that he couldn't see his brother's body as it was unrecognisable with all the blood and stab wound. So the people heard him screaming fom his brother "where is Giuliano ?!"a lot before he could break through that shield and see his deceased brother. He really loved his brother so that's why his revenge will be so scary. I haven't watched all this series only a few scenes. I don't judge it since it is difficult indeed to recreate perfect history events but I wanted to add this anecdote because I find it particularly emotional. Also English is not my language I'm Italian and the documentary I've watched was made by Alberto Angela that's why I trust the sources.

Giuliano was even reinterred to be buried with Lorenzo after his death.

A masterpiece. The acting, lighting, music, use of slow motion, and the angles they chose were all amazing. The mother’s scream piercing through the silence, the top down view of everyone pouring out of the church and fanning out? Incredible.
Not since the Red Wedding have I seen a scene this beautifully shot with all its heart-stopping brutality. The gorgeous music helps make this one of the most stunning and emotionally impactful season finales in TV history.

Kitty E I loved Season 1 & 2. I can’t pick which is better because they’re both uniquely beautiful. I did like 3 as well but I don’t think it’s as strong as the first 2. Yes, the music is amazing! I want to use the theme song for a vintage Ferrari highlight reel.
Kitty E Exactly! Instead of pursuing his lifelong goal of establishing a Florentine Republic, he went on a mission of retribution against those who murdered his brother. Though I suppose it was foreshadowed by Jacopo de’ Pazzi (Sean Bean) at the conclusion of Season 2.
The fact that they killed him in a place of worship assassinating him from the back is a new low it wasn't a fair fight I think people who kill others like this are cowards and should be ashamed of themselves
They got the damnatio memoriae for this. Pazzi's name was completely deleted from history books, archives, buildings and damned for eternity in Florence. Their properties were confiscated and given to the government. Pazzis were exincted after this act. God bless Medici. Think about this: without his father dying, Giulio would never have become Pope.

The most frustrating part is that Arthur FINALLLYYY knew who had been helping him and then POOF, dead. They should have done one more season.
In the reality was more rough and macabre, Giuliano has been stabbed so many times, that his body was literally floating in a lake of blood. The answer of Lorenzo was rough and brutal, with the total extermination of the Pazzi's family.
Yeah alot people bad mouthed lorenzo for becoming a ruthless tyrant after this but I don't blame him one bit because the pazzi started it and the medici finished it so revenge sometimes needs to be carried out

I can only imagine how much more terrifying it was to have actually been there witnessing Giuliano's murder/assassination. You've also gotta be a really royal turd to kill a child (no matter how old) in front of his/her parents and in a religious place. Continued rest in peace Giuliano de Medici!
Within the Duomo itself, on Easter Mass....... I am not exceptionally religious, but the sacrelige, desecration and violation of sanctuary disgusts me.
I am not a very big fan of the show. It can be overdramatic, a little too cheesy for my taste, the story isn't always great, the characterdevelopement can be flipflopping around and I, as someone who loves history, think it focuses too much in details I don't care for while ignoring those I consider more interesting. BUT: I am not gonna lie, this scene, this entire episode as a matter of fact, is one of the best from any series I have ever seen. For me this episode can even hold up with game of thrones episodes like the red wedding. I love Florence, I love history and I most especially love the history if the medici. This episode is perfection through and through and unites all those tings I love. It is pure genius. The assassination attempt, the way Vespucci looks at his blood-stayned hands and realises what he has done, how Lorenzo shows up at the Palazzo della Signoria, the speech he gives, the way the mobs anger tears down the Pazzi palace and everything they have ever created or owned in Florence, how Jacopo doesn't even care that he dies and is glad about how much damage he's done, how Lorenzo has to learn not to become like his enemies and how Boticelli pains "Spring" as a symbol that this is not the end but rather the beginning of something new... Those moments are just plain brilliant. I might not watch the entire season again, but I'll certainly research this episode over and over again.
Ubisoft really messed up big time, not siding the Assassins with the assassins here. You would think they'd actually make the assassins assassins for once. But no, apparently whoever's against the Pope must be good guys.
Seriously why does Bradley James character always dies in his medieval series this is the second time i watch him in a TV series which is a midieval story concept after merlin he has important wonderful role one of the main key characters of the the show yet he always dies in it the next time he has other series with same concept as these previous two that i had watch swear i will expect and won't be surprised if his character in it dies too like how Sean Bean does in most of series and movies
The fact that they planned this hit during mass, and the holiest mass of the year at that, is incredible. This is why God sent Jesus to die and rise the way he did. Yet, even so, many treat his sacrifice like it meant nothing, and this is proof of it.
I mean, I did know what’s gonna happen because I did do my historical research before I started watching…BUT!!!!! It didn’t help to ease my pain and sorrow!!!!!!😭😭 The whole scene is so powerful and shocking and even beautiful.😭😭 I burst into crying when Lucrezia screamed, can’t help but recall she had already lost a child in last season.😭😭 And Giuliano giving the sword to Lorenzo is just heartbreaking.😭😭Medici brothers forever.😭😭😭
Ive never watched this show or heard of it before today but I like Bradley as Arthur so when I saw a compilation of this character "sassing people" I thought "oh that's fun!" Then I thought "ah he's cool maybe I could like this character." Next I read this title and finally I'm here again, watching Bradley get stabbed and die. The horrors never cease my friends.

The scream definitely gave me goosebumps! Been replaying it over and over again!
Why?!!! I love this actor and i have to watch him dying again and again 😭😭😭😭
successor of Sean Bean XD
@@dlugi4198 XDDD
I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING. when I first saw this scene I was sobbing like a baby and then later on, while rewatching the show I was like tf man??? I watched him die in Merlin, now I’m Medici, give the man a break
@@kayhaych05 i agree with you!!
idkwhattocallmeself same. Arthur’s death cemented the allure of the whole show which in my mind was the very clear connection the cast members had with each other. The most frustrating part is that Arthur FINALLLYYY knew who had been helping him and then POOF, dead. They should have done one more season.
1:29 that was an epic shot, deserving of its own floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall fresco
that’s exactly what i thought
This scene always makes me cry! I can't wait for the new season to come out, absolutely love this show!!
In the reality was more rough and macabre, Giuliano has been stabbed so many times, that his body was literally floating in a lake of blood. The answer of Lorenzo was rough and brutal, with the total extermination of the Pazzi's family.
I have seen this scene so many times but when Lorenzo's mother starts screaming .... I get a real sense of fear
Yeah alot people bad mouthed lorenzo for becoming a ruthless tyrant after this but I don't blame him one bit because the pazzi started it and the medici finished it so revenge sometimes needs to be carried out
Clarice knocking Francesco down like such a badass 👏🏼
Giuliano’s murder scene and the red wedding has left me scarred for the rest of my life. 💔
Ah well, time to play those Medici missions in Assassin's creed 2.
Lucrezia's actress is incredibly good🙌🏾🙌🏾
Bradley James in a underrated actor he was also in the show Merlin, great series he was also great in this too
Why does this actor keep dying in films I watch with him in it???
Actually, he dies in tv shows, not on movies (if I can relate to Merlin, Izombie and Medici), but he end alive in Underworld and fast girls.
I know he is very cruel... but Sean Bean was very majestic!!!!! The best ever!!!!
One of the best scenes I’ve ever seen. Very well done
I cried so much during that scene and beyond!! Didn't really expect it, but yeah, I did!!
Such a powerful scene! Even words can't describe how crazy that was. Emotions emotions emotions.
Melanie it's based on an actual historical event that took place too
@@kittye8340 yeah I know. And that's why it even makes it more intense.
Melanie Totally!
Bradley James, Daniel sharman and Sean bean = amazing series. My favourite !!
I swear I've never cried on a show like this, I cried deeply, this scene broke my heart.
Reaam I cried so many times with this show especially with this scene! Ugh and s3.
Tough with Bradley James. I think directors know fans get attached to him so they kill him off for dramatic effect
Jay Racer I hate them, I couldn't get over his death on Merlin and now this, they always make him dead, I hope next time they keep him alive.😭❤️❤️❤️
Reaam he did a Q&A and posted it on UA-cam. Somebody asked why he always dies in everything he’s in. He said “I don’t know, I don’t write the script. Perhaps I’ll write the script.”
Jay Racer yeah I saw that 😂❤️❤️
My history teacher showed us this while we were talking about the Medici's and Italy
*Everyone was traumatized...*
This was actually pretty sad... 💔
I lost it when he was getting stabbed to death but still managed to wrest a dagger from one of his assailants and give it to his brother.
TheGreatFaggles yea that was sad especially when it was going slow motion and then went to reality when he was getting stabbed and his with their mother screaming out
Me: (remembering vaguely about Guiliano's murder in the church because of a class from 4 yrs ago) my gut is telling me to forget friendship and screw the Pazzis
My roommate: geez Sandra that's not a way to bring about peace
*this scene plays*
Roomie: 😲😲😭😭😭
Me: I knew it... should've killed them when you had the chance
The way Lorenzo screams for Giuliano
Lorenzo screaming lost his voice...so true!
My trauma of youth was to see Arturo Pendragon die ... my trauma returns
This scene is so epic, everything was perfect! It's insane that this is so underrated
Season 2 is far better than Season 1.
And season 1 is amazing, so this means a lot.
Dont really know this season 1 was flawless but was left unfinished this had a bug finale
Not even close. Season 1 was far better than S2/3. But season 1 also had an all star casting.

THIS SCENE IS MAJESTIC
the way lucrezia shouts for her children gave me gossebumps
Lorenzo watching these killers blatantly murder his brother was the most traumatic and heartbreaking! His poor mother! My Guiliano 💔!
Ned Stark learned from Walder Frey on how to plan a great event🤣🤣👏🏽👏🏽
Accept Walder Frey actually did it better.
That’s what I’m melting it’s in the 1400 BC what does Asia
Wow Sarah Parish in this scene ...
Too bad a certain hooded figure wasn’t there
Parsa Shirali well played
Ubisoft really messed up big time, not siding the Assassins with the assassins here. You would think they'd actually make the assassins assassins for once. But no, apparently whoever's against the Pope must be good guys.
Broke my heart … fantastic acting ❤️ Love this series …
1:28 this looks like a painting
🤔
Seriously why does Bradley James character always dies in his medieval series this is the second time i watch him in a TV series which is a midieval story concept after merlin he has important wonderful role one of the main key characters of the the show yet he always dies in it the next time he has other series with same concept as these previous two that i had watch swear i will expect and won't be surprised if his character in it dies too like how Sean Bean does in most of series and movies
Shows you the understanding of unity and how powerful that can be. If you stand together you can achieve anything.
The fact that they planned this hit during mass, and the holiest mass of the year at that, is incredible. This is why God sent Jesus to die and rise the way he did. Yet, even so, many treat his sacrifice like it meant nothing, and this is proof of it.
The tragic death of Bradley in all his TV shows is killing me 🥲
I don't often cry, but damn I cried.
Bradley James is not safe in any universe is he?
This scene always gives me chills !!! 💔
Having those Da Vinci’s demons’ vibes of the end of the first season...even though DVD isn’t really historically accurate
I knew it was going to happen but the tension leading to it was crazy
Bradley loves acting in these kinds of shows damn
So Ned Stark plots to kill King Arthur and Isaac Lahey
Why Arthur it was hard enough the last time and it happens all over again. Two times I see him die why couldn’t he fight back
the scene is perfectly done good job medici family
I mean, I did know what’s gonna happen because I did do my historical research before I started watching…BUT!!!!! It didn’t help to ease my pain and sorrow!!!!!!😭😭
The whole scene is so powerful and shocking and even beautiful.😭😭
I burst into crying when Lucrezia screamed, can’t help but recall she had already lost a child in last season.😭😭
And Giuliano giving the sword to Lorenzo is just heartbreaking.😭😭Medici brothers forever.😭😭😭
It's time to rewatch this series! Sad scene.... :'(
Ezio tried, but didn't make it in time. Poor Giuliano...
The Pazzi will never learn - Kill then all - Giuliano handing the knife to his brother OMG heart wrenching moment - I teared up
I thought ezio would come and save them
Actually, even in the game Ezio wasn't able to save Giuliano from the conspirators, he was only able to rescue Lorenzo.
@@Wolf6119 Ya i know and I was also talking about the that only😅
So Merlin lived forever, imagine seeing your crush being stabbed twice over 1000 years apart
This scene always gets me😭
Yasmine Latamene Just saw it. Did you see Merlin?
@@JayRacer yes, a long time ago
Yasmine Latamene I asked because they prematurely killed off Bradley James in that as well.
This is so sad..I could believe what happened..oh Guiliano..I remembered how Arthur died in Merlin now this..😥😥😥
The CHILLS.
Non so se abbiano fatto a girare questa scena ma sono stati tutti eccezionali ❤
Thank gosh Ezio Auditore was outside to save Lorenzo from the next wave
This scene, so tragic and so powerful. And the soundtrack... 😍😪
i mean Bradley James' character always die in his tele dramas
i love him soooooooooooooooooooo much
why these directors do it every time///////.Arthur, Lowell, Giuliano De Medici
soooooooooooooooooo saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad
Tragic all around I even felt bad for Francisco
There is a big mistake..1478, when this occurred, the duomo didn’t have a marmor covered facade. They build it after 1880. So the shot from above doesn’t make sense
Why does he always has to die? First king Arthur, then Giuliano. Always brilliant and heartbreaking
This rivals the red wedding of GoT…
Such a great story, with love and loyalty.
