Hmmm...this makes me wonder about Thomas and Gordon's memories of meeting the Queen, since it took place after Down the Mine.
The thought of Thomas and Gordon's faces taken off still shudders me to this day, though it feels like an in-joke to the pilot. Nice work anyway.

Wow omg how did they move Thomas and Gordon’s faces and identities into new engines from their original engines?
Their faces are attached to their smokeboxes.. so i imagine its like performing a literal brain transplant.

@@bibblyboing I don't think so because th fat control got a talent engineering from crew if it ask simple move the smoke box to a new shell/engine they probably don't need a talent engineering so I think there is more under the smokebox door we think maby a live ogasum like a shed 13

This doesn't feel like a true prequel because Sir Topham Hatt feels more sympathetic in this than he was in Factory Reset.
If he was as heartless as he was in that video, he would've removed Thomas and Gordon's faces and put them on new bodies again so they would forget what happened and not tell anyone.
Don't get me wrong. I like this adaptation of the original story, but it doesn't line up with the last video.
Different writers for the two stories.

Ik they technically aren't cannon to each other being as they're from two different writers, however my theory is that after the events of this story, the fat controller decided that maybe he should make more reminding how it worked so well the first time, and with the uptick in accidents on the island it would come in handy... You can figure out the rest from there.
I imagine a similar thing happened to henry after his flying kipper accident.

I didn’t like how rushed a lot of this felt, but aside from that, this was a very well done adaptation!
That's why I think they are like a supernatural AI or something just pure artificial life...🧐

How many more times are you gonna click on every adaption of A Part of Me Was Left Behind just to complain?

How is this a prequel if topham actually has a heart in this one ?
Why say it was a prequel if you knew the two weren't even connected?
Someone else mentioned in a different comment, and I had the same idea watching this, that this incident might have given the Fat Controller the idea to set up the body replacement scheme seen in Factory Reset, given how accident prone his engines seem to be, and how handy it would be to transfer faces any time an engine would be beyond saving or economically unviable to repair. Plus, there's plenty of time between wherever A Part of Me Stayed Behind happened early in the show and whenever in S5 Factory Reset happens for the Fat Controller to set up a scheme like this and lose his compassion for the engines as he replaces more and more of them over time.
This is byfar the best adaptation of this amazing story!

_Una mañana temprano, Gordon despertó sobresaltado. Se sentía extraño, pero no podía explicar porqué. Su maquinista, quien había venido a prepararlo antes de trabajar, lo tranquilizó.
El maquinista de Gordon: Es el agua de la zanja - le dijo el maquinista a Gordon - Pudo haber entrado a tu mal funcionamiento y hacer que te sientas enfermo.
_Gordon quedó satisfecho con esa explicación, pero lo extraño fue que no recordaba haber caído en ningúna zanja, a pesar de que esto había sucedido recientemente. Tenía recuerdos borrosos.
Gordon: Bueno, estoy exhausto de jalar también del expreso - se rió entre dientes.
_Y volvió a caer en un sueño intranquilo.

_Soñó con imágenes vagas de una mina y un profundo abismo. Se sentía apartado de sí mismo como si estuviera viendo los acontecimientos en tercera persona. No podía ver nada con claridad, pero sentía fuertemente que estos recuerdos no le pertenecían.

_Más tarde ese día, Gordon adormilado resopló hasta los depósitos.
Thomas: ¿Larga noche? - preguntó Thomas.
Gordon: Sí. Tuve algunos sueños muy extraños - respondió Gordon.
Thomas: Yo también, era como si estuviéramos en la mina otra vez. Pero cuando me desperté, en realidad no podía recordar haber estado allí en absoluto.
Gordon: Tuve los mismos sueños. Ahora que lo pienso, no recuerdo harberme caído en la zanja y mucho menos haberte rescatado de la mina.
Thomas: ¿Qué significa eso? - preguntó Thomas.
Gordon: No lo sé, recién regresábamos. Recuerdo haberte traído al depósito justo antes de que la reina llegara a la isla.
Thomas: Yo también recuerdo eso. Pero, ¿Por qué no podemos recordar haber estado en la mina?.
_Las dos locomotoras decidieron averiguarlo por sí mismas.

MY THEORY: Maybe all engines on sodor have a supernatural power source that makes them alive, which means whenever they die. They can resurrect then in a new body

Everybody has bad dreams but remember you always have friends and family to keep you company at night the past is the past and this is now forget about the past and focus on the future is what I say and 2:58 Thomas and Gordon couldn’t have died in the mine it just um I think uh I don’t know and 3:19 sir fat hat is just joking right
These stories are scary, and they do have parts that can give you nightmares. But I did like these.

El maquinista de Thomas y el maquinista de Gordon: Tendremos que investigar desde aquí - dijeron sus maquinistas.
_Pasaron junto al letrero y se dirigieron hacía los pozos de la mina derrumbados. Regresaron poco tiempo después.
Thomas: ¿Por qué regresaron tan pronto? - preguntó Thomas.
El maquinista de Thomas: No hay nada que ver. Regresemos.
Thomas: Ni siquiera llevaste una linterna contigo...¿Cómo pudiste haber visto algo?.
_Sus maquinistas insistieron, pero Thomas se negó. Avanzó a través del letrero y se detuvo al borde de un gran pozo abierto. Cuando observó hacia abajo, se paralizó.
Thomas: ¡Gordon...! - lo llamó Thomas.
_En el pozo habían dos locomotoras destrozadas. Una se parecía exactamente a Thomas y la otra a Gordon.
Gordon: ¿Quienes son estas locomotoras? - preguntó Gordon.
Sir Topham Hatt: Puedo explicarlo - dijo una voz familiar - Esperaba que éste día nunca llegara, pero por desgracia aquí estamos. Estos eran ustedes - continuó solemnemente.
Thomas: ¿Qué quiere decir con eran? - preguntó Thomas.
Sir Topham Hatt: Cuando te caíste en la mina, Thomas, no te caíste simplemente, la mina se derrumbó debajo de ti tragándote por completo. Intentamos traer a Gordon, nuestra locomotora más fuerte para que te sacara con una polea, pero calculamos mal el tamaño del vacío del pozo y él también cayó en el abismo creciente debajo del suelo.
Gordon: Pero, ¿Cómo podemos estar aquí si estamos allá abajo? - preguntó Gordon.
Sir Topham Hatt: Es una historia espantosa - dijo el inspector gordo - Hubo un gran escándalo debido a nuestra mala organización y para salvar las apariencias, les salvamos las caras. Hubo un ingeniero talentoso de Crew, quien colocó sus caras en nuevas locomotoras. Las locomotoras que ven ustedes ahí abajo, eran prototipos de ustedes mismos.
_Thomas y Gordon no sabían qué decir. Comenzaron a llorar.
Sir Topham Hatt: Esto no cambia quienes son ahora. Siguen siendo dos de mís locomotoras más útiles. Les dimos una segunda oportunidad.
Thomas: Y evitó un escándalo, entendemos - dijo Thomas.
_Poco después, las dos locomotoras aún sorprendidas se dirigieron a los cobertizos. Todo se sentía familiar y extraño al mismo tiempo. Ya no se sentían completos sabiendo que una parte de ellos se estaba pudriendo en las entrañas de las minas. Sólo esperaban que algún día, dentro de muchos años, estos recuerdos también se volvieran borrosos.

It’s indeed the same narration. I approached him for doing the lines unaware that he did them already. So he let me use his lines from SP’s video

A Kevin MacLeod track, I think. There was a different story bouncing off of Thomas and the Mine where Thomas pranks Duck into poking around the mine and he gets stuck there overnight and has the shit scared out of him by a nightmare or a ghost engine, and there was a comment talking about a track that sounded similar to this one. Can't remember what it was though.
Found the story, it was The Old Lead Mine, someone mentioned the track Unseen Horrors. I think that was the same one here, not certain though. Could be another Kevin MacLeod track, could be a Myuu track, cause I'm pretty sure there was one of his with the creepy piano in this episode, though I don't remember the track name for that one.
