ABOUT:
Hi, I'm Wendy, and I have been on a sewing journey ever since my mom taught me how to make little outfits for my dolls. I studied engineering and business, had an office job for two years, and then quit to embark on a lifelong sewing adventure on UA-cam. Subscribe to join me on the adventure, and maybe make your own clothing too! Thanks for watching ❤️ - Навчання та стиль
I’m always so jealous when people are able to find GOOD oversized denim jackets at the thrift store 😑
Honestly I was nervous when I went too, but be patient and you never know!
Now that Marie Kondo’s tidying up is a thing, they’re probably EVERYWHERE!
I got one from my grandmas closet 😂😂
Inner city thrifts tend to have more oversized clothes
Study your nearby thrift stores, figure out when the trucks come in or what days the most clothes come in and try to go that day and the day after depending on when they shelf. Then you will have so many more options because obviously everyone wants the good stuff.
Been teasing this on Instagram for too long, let it be uploaded! Since the last two vids were faux fur I think I need to take a little break from the fuzzy fabric section :) let me know what you want next!
withwendy I'd love to see casual day-dress tutorials!
Have you tried making leggings? I'd love to see that!
withwendy I would love a full length pants tutorial!
Messenger bag possibly?

This is perfect! I've been debating whether or not to buy a sherpa jacket but didn't want to since I already have so many denim jackets, so I will definitely be giving this a try!
Yay that sounds perfect!!
Jenn Lee I literally made one years back and I didn’t have a denim jacket back then, but after searching and scouting for one, the entire diy project cost me $20. $15 for the jacket and $5 for the fabric. So your project would certainly cost less
would be cool to try to make a sherpa lining vest that's removable, too. i'm a denim jacket junkie and have some really cool hand embroidered ones that i miss in the winter, but wouldn't want to permanently move into my cold weather wardrobe either. maybe it can be buttoned in or something, so the buttons can be cut off once the vest isn't needed.
Buttoned in lining is totally a thing, you would simply make a sherpa vest and have snaps to connect it to the inside of the denim jacket. The major changes this would mean would that your denim jacket would now have small snaps on the inside (if placed strategically, shouldn't be noticeable from the outside), as well you likely wont be able to wrap the sherpa trim over the collar edge.
If you want it to be easy to remove you can sew it on by hand with long stitches. I did this myself, and it looked the same but was easier to remove :) only thing is that it takes a bit more time.
Maybe the denim colar could be slipped into like a Sherpa colar... Kind of like a pillow case. Anybody understands what I mean??
Yessss oh my goodness I had the same idea today which is why I looked up this tutorial to see if it was a thing!! I was thinking of using the snap buttons (the small metal ones) but was worried that the sherpa/polar fleece would fray?
I was thinking the same
SOO GOOD 💕💕
Thank you!! Sending you both lots of love!! I've been obsessing over your latest vids
Love this! I will definitely be thrifting a jacket and recreating this for the fall!
Wendy ~ it would be super useful if you included (even if approximate) how much fabric you purchased & used on each project to use as a guideline when recreating the pieces.
Love your sewing projects!! And also appreciate the information we get about the materials... it's always interesting to know something new and work with it.
This vid was when I finally learned the difference between sherpa and shearling, so I'm grateful to learn along the way too!
This video was very helpful. I wanted to line a denim jacket for my niece, but with fleece quilted to canvas for a sturdy lining. I also substituted some faux wolf fur for the collar. The project was a fantastic success. Everything fit perfectly and stitched up well. Thanks for the inspiration and easy to follow instructions.
So fluffy! It looks great
Not only did I find this tutorial incredibly helpful, you are also entertaining to watch and a pleasure to listen to.
I'm loving it ive been searching for an oversized Sherpa jacket, for sure will make.

If it’s fine, could I request a Q&A video sometime this year? Especially for those who have the same passionate creativity as you?
Yeah we can do one soon!
Yes I’ve been waiting for this video!! 😍
I am going thrift shopping tomorrow so I'll look for a denim jacket because this is a good diy! I already have 2 denim jackets so I didn't want to buy one like that since it is expensive and similar to the ones I have but this diy makes it cheap to do so I'll try!
Hope you find what you're looking for! :)

Wendy.. you're great! Your DIY hoodie video inspired me to make my own.. & the experience of doing so empowered me. I'm a novice so, it took a while.. broke two needles.. but the end product really looks & feels great. So thank you for your contributions. This vid is literally something I've been wanting to do with my denim jacket for ages.. but with a fur that can be detached. Any tips?
Love your videos! Sewing videos and also your bullet journal videos. Thank youuuu!
Thank you!
withwendy wow, I have mega anxiety over posting comments and I usually write it out a few times and delete. I FORCED myself to post it even if it sounded dumb because I'm trying not to give in to my anxiety so much in 2018. Your reply makes me feel so happy!
Great job!
Is there a way to connect the 'sherpa' to the jacket with just a button system or anything? Or would that be difficult? I love you & you're vids so much! Groetjes from Belgium xoxo
its so cute! you give me so much inspiration
Thank you!
Ohhh yasss love it

Wendy, I'm wondering if using a walking a foot would be easier to sew all that fabric together? Love watching your videos by the way, they are so creative and fun to watch.
