I can NOT thank you enough for the MOST informative and beautifully done video! As always you present the instructions so well and explanations are easily understood. Thank you
Excellent tutorial. I am not in the clock domain but I have always been fascinated by the mechanics of clocks. Modern electronic clocks never provide the charm and learning opportunity that mechanical clocks provide. Besides mechanics is a branch of Science. Thanks for your video.
I used to fix tower clocks, way cool. I have a similar movement as in this video, and can't get it to strike correctly. Oh hell...I install a quartz movement!
Chris, your videos are total fun and I learnt a LOT! Can you tell me, when the pendulum CM length and the speed BPM values are stamped on the back plate, where do you measure the pendulum length from? Is it from the verge pin or from the very top at the suspension spring mounting arm, or just the length of the external pendulum rod itself, etc?
Hello Chris, Ty for your videos. Very educational and entertaining. Im a total novice. I was always fascinated with the beauty and ingenuity of the clock. I wanted to ask you where I can find parts? I was gifted a Schmidt 8 day clock with musical box and I opened it and saw that the driving mechanism had a tooth missing. I just cant find the schematics of the clock and where I would be able to buy the parts? Any help? Link? Direction would be amazing. Happy New Year!
I have a Hershede grandmother clock from 1975 with this mechanism. It doesn't have the chains or weights for it. Where can I find the correct chains and weights for it?
My grandfather clock's minute hand is running little bit fast . I adjusted the pendulum several times but couldn't fix the problem. I have put the clock on a little bit uneven floor . Is it OK to put the clock on a such ground ? Please give me a solution.
I'm no expert but really you should definitely try to get the clock case nice and vertical, use a carpenter level if you have one. However it probably isn't the reason to run fast. Is the pendulum the correct one or is it a replacement one, that can do it.
If adjusting the pendulum length is not resolving the issue; it is probably an escapement problem in that it is missing some beats or there is an internal problem of some kind.

Thanks Angela! I appreciate the kind words. Good luck!

Thank you. It is measured from the pin to the center of mass of the bob.

You can order individual wheels from Timesavers.com or Merritts.
Wonder how you learned fixing grand father clock movements and if you could recommend a good book for learning hobbyist ? Thanks

I need this type clock where can I get it
What's the set screw doing on a wheel you had to press on?
Which link you are referring to at 11:15?

Very informative but sir, you did not shown how to put pivots proper in respective holes
I appreciate the feedback. I am always seeking to provide what the viewers are looking for.
