Maybe because Larry does that to sell his products and uses a lot of marketing. Otherwise, Jon is here to inform and teach. Conclusion: people is interessed in watch a 'show' not to learn. 🤔
I always wondered the same, forensic detailing and Brian at apex Detail more focused on the products and teaching where as the like of Ammo and Pan the organizer more focused on brand promotion. I would think the like of John and Brian get the older more realistic viewers where as Larry and Pan get the younger viewers with the slick production and all the hype words to push products. I would love to know the average age of the viewers to each channel.
the answer i think it's much more simple, larry has it's time really caught with product management and placement, altough he has many videos in which he teaches, but he details a lot himself i belive so there is very little time for him to do what this guy is doing, on the other hand, pan is not a researcher, i don't think he devotes his life on extensive product testing he just reviews them and gives his opinion on them, even though you can sometimes tell he has his affinities with some brands and he could be more objective and also consider the price versus other products more in comparison to how he does now.
rattlehead85 I was thinking about using that combo, thanks for sharing that info. Has anybody done or does anybody know if Gyeon Booster can be top-coated on Cancoat? I was wondering if there is enough Sio2 content in Cancoat to be considered a "basecoat" for the Booster to be applied on. Jon, I thought this video was one of your best.
Carpro Reload on-top of Cquartz UK is like a night and day difference to the coating. I've had mine done in UK for 2 years and here's what I noticed. After 3 months, the beading had basically disappeared(90 days) and I was normally just washing with Reset and than spraying optimum spray wax to aid dry. So after the 3 months seeing it stop beading, I moved to reload as my drying aid and holy. Crap. It was like my UK coating came back to life. The beading water incredibly well. It looked absolutely incredible. So I have to say that now after 2 years and seeing it finally kinda die off(fenders have seen the coating basically removed. Doors are close to failed.) I have to say that these spray coating are amazing to help AID in coatings and helping protect the coating themselves. Cquartz recommends using reload and so it's like these products mesh and bond together in a certain way that just makes it that much better than anything else if that makes sense. Anyways, thanks so much for this review. I messaged you on Instagram about TAC systems because a store near me started selling them. I'm very happy and thanks for this again.
Do you dry the car off and THEN go with the Reload? I'm about to try the Cquartz as soon as we have some warmer weather. Also I have that GLISS stuff.... not sure if I should or should not use it and stick with the beadmaker since it's been a JOY to use!
@@07wrxtr1 I use it after I've blown the car down. So there is a little bit of water but not much. There's no issue using it with water on the car as a drying aid or dry. But if it's dry just make sure it's not dusty because it's not a cleaner, it's a sealant. I like it very much though.
This is the exact process I use. Only 1 year through but I believe the Reload is definitely protecting or topping up the ceramic coating. Still get great beading and protection
The Paint Corrector I’m also thinking about a ceramic coating, but I for one don’t like the idea that you should top up the coating with another product. I find it a bizarre way of thinking, that you would have to use spray on protection to protect the protection underneath!?
John, I've been using TAC system products for about 2 years now. I was introduced to them by a fellow member on Autogeek, he gave me a sample of their tire coating, blew me away! Since then I've bought their coating called Power Plus, incredible product! I've also bought Moonlight, 1 step Master and Quartz Max to use as toppers, all exceeded my expectations! Moonlight is awesome, applies like a coating and has tremendous looks and that self cleaning ability leaves me speechless, same goes for 1 step Master, comes out like a mousse and finishes out great! Quartz Max is a nice product to put on after a wash, very easy to use, so many options here with TAC system! While I'm at it I should mention their soap that's geared towards a coated car, Mystic Bubble. I have many soaps in my collection and this is one of my favs. It's pretty thick so a little goes a long way. I've used in for my 2BM washes as well as a pre-wash in my IK Foam 9, winner winner! I have also used their wheel cleaner and it just flat out performs, just like their tire coating. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS BRAND! Jon, your right about the gap in the market and how someone can get in there and make something, some has already...TAC SYSTEM🇺🇸😃
Im convinced Im right about that gap :) you can see it as well cant you, its just the missing piece in the chain. The reason it got missed is because the rest of the industry was only focus'd on the success an existing format of product (the silica spray) and they all waded in on that and missed a trick. its 1 step master thats the one that will fill it. Think most of the people watching this video literally have no idea what Im talking about. defo a cool brand and I like the fact they are divorced from the scene and tucked away in korea poking around at wierd materials and plotting :)
@@ForensicDetailing absolutely! They just came into the US marke and my contact there, David, is an incredible guy and anyone reading this in the USA needs to look them up www.tacsystemusa.com Btw they've had an Sio2 spray on, hose off sealant for quite some time now and yes, it's great! I hope you do several TAC system reviews soon Jon🇺🇸👍🦂
Brian at Apex detail has highlighted this very subject for awhile. Checkout his last video showcasing the one step. He applied it to his own Corvette. It's an insane product
I also have a recomendation. Tac system SEAL is a concentrated dressing. Similar to PEARL (same mixing ratios) but cheaper! (pearl is 15€, seal is 10€) Cheers
I use it, recently got some to try out. It's quite honestly an identical product to PERL. Like, even down to the smell. It's near the same price. I will say it doesn't 'flash' like PERL does and I like that a lot. So I'll probably stick to this stuff. It's fantastic. Great recommendation
Does it have the same greasy touch that car pro pearl where you need to buff off the excess on tire and interior (diluted 1:5 in my case). Pearl is a good product, but tires tend to develop a greasy residue few hours after application that i don't like.
To me Tac System and CARPRO are sisters company. They have the same top quality and offer pretty much the same products. They are my go too now 2 companies for my clients. I pay more for my products but it make my job easier and my clients happier.
I've been using tac system for couple of months now have moonlight, quartz max, shinee wax, mystic water repellent I love using the quartz max spary easy to use great results for me..
ok let me throw a wrench in the machine! Why should we (the average consumer) buy products with a standing time of 6 months and longer where the average detailer (guilty) cant keep his hands of his car for more than a couple of weeks, before he starts washing waxing and polishing the damn thing again!
xraylax I could not agree more, any product I use needs to have a longevity of 10 to 14 days, I can’t understand people who claim to be ‘enthusiastic ‘ detailers criticising products for only lasting 3 to 4 months!
Hence why beadmaker has been the most recent go to product for us! For those of us that have our cars already dialed in. Topping it off everytime and using it as a drying aid is a no Brainer.
@@ptvfr800 the only thing I can think of is that for a lot of detailers, the main purpose or the ultimate goal of detailing is to preserve the clear coat as much as possible. Generally speaking, the less you touch your cars paint with any form of mechanical contact the better....ie, the less you have to spray or apply wax and wipe off with a microfiber the better.
TAC remind me of GTechniq about 10-12 years ago when I first came across the idea of coatings. They were very innovative. I switched to the Gtechniq range and sold off all my Swissvax stuff realising that wax had perhaps had it’s day. TAC have some different products that not everyone else does and I really like that.
Rafal - I’d look at what both brands have in their product lines and see what fits with what you’re after. These two brands aren’t the only options either with coatings. There are great products out there from Gyeon, CarPro amongst many others.
@@Audittr2108 I'm looking for best protection against car paint, like UV and chemical, heat etc etc and what will last longer, that i wouldn't know, do you know?
I still love spending a couple of hrs putting collinite Marque D' Elegance on alot of my customers cars. I am a bit old school like that I use either collinite or Soft 99 waxes and sealants it's a process I just enjoy doing and some of my older customers won't have anything else but a good wax. I do use TAC Moonlight on a few and it is superb.
so do I shane :) still love a good wax. but just like done a lot of wax including spending years now brewing them and from a channel POV it gets harder to find different stuff to xplore. a good wax will always rock and theres obviously waxes which have very strong performance and stuff as well nowadays, so they have come along way too. colly 915 though for an old school product is still really good.
@@brandonherrera2891 good man I am with you there I don't think any other product give you the shine that a good wax does and the collinite waxes Last a good amount of time. Its also very therapeutic aswell you just feel like it's a job well done
Interesting line of thought in this video. I agree there probably should be a step between spray and rinse silica sealants and full on ceramic coating products. I had been considering Gyeon Can Coat this spring (which I think you mentioned is similar in concept to Moonlight), but may go with the Moonlight and Wet Coat combo you mentioned in an earlier video. Just need to figure out my order of operations. After wash and decontamination, should I use a regular polish like M205 or HD Adapt or a hybrid polish/sealant like Essense or Total One Essential (which look pretty similar). After the polish comes the application of the Moonlight. Does the Wet Coat get applied after the Moonlight cures in a few hours? I think using the wet MF to apply the Wet Coat makes sense. Maintenance is the last bit. Using Gyeon Cure or Reload (or even a spray and rinse application of Wet Coat) seems to make sense, but I'm wondering if using, say, Bead Maker as a drying agent would work just as well. Love the video and would love to hear your thoughts on this
If anyone is new to this channel or detailing, listen to Uncle John. He knows his shit and unlike some UA-camrs from across the pond, he's 100% unbiased and does not peddle a certain product or brand for his own financial gain. So in short, great thanks must be given to him with all the time and effort put into these videos for our benefit.
Totaly agree with you on this. I think this type of products will take place as the modern sealant kind of products. Where will you place c2v3 in this landscape? G actually claims (up to) 8 months of durability as a standalone....
Nice vid! Yes Ive been using, and recommending a system like that, some kind of sealant topped up with a silica spray. Both in general and Ceramic Coat/Quartz Magic in particular. You are absolutley 100% right. Looking forward to to more about 1 Step Master and Ceramic Coat!
Nice vid yet again Jon! I haven’t watched TV on an evening for a while - just tuned in to Forensic Detailing Channel! Maybe that says more about me than anything! Doh! Anyway, is there any potential for you to do a video showing a wide range of offerings from different companies starting with the ‘primer’ type polishes and working along all the way up to full blooded ceramics? Kind of like an ‘overview of the options and choices available to people’? I know this could be a lengthy one, but maybe could be an ‘overview’ or ‘introduction’ style video which would shorten it a bit...? I for one would be super interested in it. Keep up the great work 👍👍
yo thanks mate. jesus that could be a tough one but yer could be usefull.. its like could just start with a glaze and wax as the simple options at one end and then like at the other end you get the full on ranges and systems by some of the companies were it gets complicated. some guys will just want wax and glaze some in the middle some like hardcore mode. gonna demo like full hardcore mode with the gyeon suite soon on the channel. ill have a think about this mate and try and come up with something.
Awesome!! That sounds really great Jon!! As a result people could then go off and watch your other videos relating to a certain product type, so for example if a person thought that a wax was the right option for them they can go off and watch your wax review video for guidance on which wax they might like to try and so on. Great stuff 👍
yer will have a think. there literally is no right or wrong. the cool thing is in each like format of protection methods theres loads of options. Im exploring this stuff just mainly because Ive explored everything else :) who knows if it will work for me but I like the idea of a system I can use like this.
Nice one Jon, We amateurs who do a fairly high mileage need a resilient base that is easy to apply and can be topped up when we wash our cars to give the satisfaction of seeing the beading and gloss. It would be even better if the base coat had a little filling properties too. Keep it up Jon.
i've had ceramic coat, 1 step master sealant and Total one Essential for over a year now and cant say i'm that impressed by them, quite difficult to apply and remove, opposite end of the scale Moonlight is a breeze to apply and remove but i get no where near 9 months durability, i'm finding my self moving back to waxes and in fact have just bought a tub of Zymol Carbon, my car spends most of the time in the Garage in winter and mostly car shows at summer so i dont need anything durable. Plus i enjoy spending a few hours after dinner in the garage waxing away find it relaxing.
Jon I have been wondering the same myself for the longest time, but I guess it’s just all due to marketing and kind of “milking the cow” as long as they can with the “hard to use” ceramic coatings. I think you’re spot on when you say the siloxane (along with other silicones and hydrocarbons I think) is the hydrophobic agent in a LOT of these products. I’m no chemist, but a few months ago I was checking out a lot of MSDS of ceramic coatings and Si02 toppers, but only found one that said it contained silicon *not silicone* (don’t remember which one and I didn’t check every single one out there). They mostly contained various forms of siloxane and hydrocarbons. I must be missing something because I don’t think all these companies are lying, and I’ve applied ceramic coatings, though only one brand and the glass (or glass-like) substance is always there the next day when I open up the glass bottle to use it for another car. I know this is a bit off topic, but I’m just very curious and you sir, obviously are too! Would love to hear your input and any other’s who is more knowledgable than I am in this area.
the problem is to answer it full really requires you to know each material in every coating, by chemical product code name and then understanding that component. But say with the first wave of ceramic coatings which are the ones I sort of half know virtually nothing but a little bit about whats in it.. The inorganic silzane resin used in it is only "slightley hydrophobic" so if you just made a coating with this resin and a binder and the carrier, even if it had very high % of the silzane and formed a thick ceramic layer. that coating would look unimpressive from a repellency point of view. So then other materials also get blended in (not that much difference to wax making in theory) to add hydropphobic performance. Sometimes those are silicones/siloxanes, but they can literally be so many other things. Flourine polymers are also used.. god knows what else, but other resins are blended in to improve other performance elements beyond just water repellency, so many coatings nowadays, lots claiming cool things. Its one of the hardest product markets to understand as a consumer. I find it all pretty interesting yer but I really have no clue about the chemistry side and whapping great holes in even the most fundamental basics of chemistry.. so not much of it makes sense.
I think you’re bang on Jon. You could well be right and I’d be a buyer of this for sure. I personally don’t like ceramics as I feel they compromise the true paint finish to much and frankly I like the maintenance and the ability to polish and apply waxes etc to the car. I love the traditional waxing/sealant products and this option of yours is a good one. I usually go with Menzerna PowerLock with a R222 wax with a Gyeon Wet Coat maintenance which gives me everything I need but wish the waxing lasted longer - again, your suggestion would hit the target beautifully. 👍🏼👌🏼👨🏻🔬
Just watched Brian's review of the One Step Master and came back to watch this again. I guess that the guys at TW took your comments on board when developing their new Ceramic line! 👏😉
I’ve been using moonlight for about 4-5 months, it’s still holding up and was a joy to use... I honestly got it to see my cars and others through the winter before applying full coating package, but I’m seriously thinking do you really need to? Yes it’s a job you need schedule every spring and autumn but for the price and durability it bang on! Well done TAC Systems
thats kind of my mind set micky. moonlight is impressive, definetly worth exploring. I also want to use this more than a full on coating Im so comfortable with it. It might be the one for me :) but 1 step master is something I need to explore as well its like the next step down from moonlight.
After 3 years of work, I finally managed to be a month away from the authorization of car foil and ceramic coating. Making some wonderful videos full of information, I hope that one day, this work will be equally appreciated in Romania as well as outside the country.
Thanks for your in depth videos and recommending me onto moonlight, are these 2 products of a similar type to gyeon can coat as a short term easy application coating, I think the next big thing is going to be similar to the Feynlab self healing coating
I've got a bottle of One-Step Master and so far don't reckon much to it, found it a bit of a pain to use, its not stubborn to remove but it is incredibly grabby. Then durability has been pretty poor too. First time I used it, it lasted maybe 2 months (prepped with Bilt Hamber Cleanser Fluid), I didn't wash the car for 3 months and by that time it was totally dead. I've got it on my car again now so I'll see if it does any better this time.
Bit off topic but I’ve used moonlight on johns recommendation it’s great lasts ages and beads like hell. But I prefer the smooth feel of wax and the warm glow a nice wax gives. I’m thinking of using R222 wax this summer love the r222 but just doesn’t last or bead very well. Would anyone recommend topping it with a gyeon wet coat or even bead maker. Just an idea 💡
Rewatching this today as I’ve spent quite a few hours doing a full decon a 3 in 1 ( no time for a one step)then wax and think I’m done with wax. You have to work harder for it then you have the clean up after with a toothpick/kebab skewer and a microfibre. I’m 40 now Jon and think I should be taking it easier 😂 think I should try something like this next time. 🚗😴
I am a big fan of the channel. The part I am trying to understand with both Tac systems you are talking about(ceramic coat and one step) is that this would be easier to apply. Spray on, wipe off, no need for polished or naked paint? I have applied Moonlight to a lot of cars topped with Quartz Max and this combo gives good gloss and lasts if maintained as in topped with Quartz Max. I am going to try your recommendation of Gyeon Wet Coat as a topper and I will try Water Glass as well. Moonlight is easy to apply however you do really need naked paint. I just feel I missed your message this time Jon as I think the products you predict are already in place. All bases need a topper anyway to produce a more defined gloss. Maybe I should watch this one again. You are usually very clear with your marked intent. Anyway I also believe in waxes just for the wipe off achievement or accomplishment and the right wax on the right colour just blows away ceramics. I have not had to repair any failed or damaged ceramics but if they are all being topped off every now and again it can be hard to determine longevity. Without any maintenance ceramics do hold grime after tailing off or starting to lose hydrophobicity. I would really like to understand the chemistry at a better level. Until then I am on the fence about ceramics and the hype they came with originally especially now as there are plenty of easy to apply 9H ceramics
cheers tom, the gap I saw is what SI based baseline sealant type product (non full on ceramic), that are compatable with all the very popular SI maintainance product exist. Not that many. ive not used these products btw yet so no idea on performance.
Adams just got it! Look at adams ceramic spray coating. They say up to 9 months of protection. It has the same ‘flash’ after 2 min as a real ceramic coating. I belive it is only for businesses for now because it is so new. Sorry for my bad english.
I'm expecting the totally same thing, John! To me, the conventional ceramic coatings are just too much work in the installation, considering they still need to be taken care of like everything else. I'm pedantic in keeping my car tidy and I enjoy detailing so why kind of bother with the heavyweights, right? When you're going to renew the base layer 2-4 times a year anyway and top it up regularly, I think the Moonlight is just an amazing combination of ease of use and performance. Especially if it's finished with Quartz Max for even shorter car downtime! Then top it up with say TAC Systems' Water Glass and you have quite a simple system going on. Water Glass also looks to be very competitively priced against Wet Coat and Hydro2 which is why John you should definitely do a spray and rinse showdown at some point! There's a clear gap for more robust product than detailing spray or spray and rinse type of ceramics but which still doesn't necessarily require user to go through a complicated layering process and sit the car in a film darkroom for 24 hours. Again John, excellent stab through the usual UA-cam marketing and dime in a dozen product tests!
24 quid. for an 8oz capacity can. bit pricey that. dunno Im looking at PNS to go in the spray sealant thing.. this stuff I might put in or something from megauirs if not this.
It requires a lot of paint prep for ceramic coatings to produce the results they do. What I always have wondered is, how do you repair the coating if it becomes damaged? My guess is, it’s expensive and time consuming. It’s not like a good carnauba wax where you can, very easily and inexpensively, reapply and reset the coating. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I think the “ceramic craze” needs to be out there for some more time before I can form an opinion either way on ceramic coatings. Anyone else feel that way? Just curious?
Forensic Detailing Channel Thanks for the reply Jon. I use CarPro product. Great product line. But still feel a lot more at ease with a good carnauba wax. I guess old habits do die hard. 😂
@Martin James I agree but its also their job to sell you products. the dilema if you were a business owner, would you name it MJ Silazane spray and sell 1000 bottles.. Or ceramic turbo ultra shine wax and sell 100,000 bottles, pay off your mortgage also buy that porsche you wanted and send you kids to havard etc.. Id prolly go with the cheesy name etc.. who knows..
I don't necessarily know that this was missed....Gyeon CanCoat is pretty similar to what you're describing, topped up with Cure or Reload type product can be considered a 'lite' ceramic coating, and with proper maintenance and topping could easily get a year out of. Especially now that CarPro have released Elixir, which is essentially a premixed ech2o and reload concoction, that as a topper over cancoat would be incredible. By and large a lot of companies aren't making something in this space, but CanCoat seems to be the ticket. Adam's also came out with a sprayable "9H" whatever value you place on that term, ceramic coating. Couple companies (Shine Supply, etc.) have silica based liquid waxes or 'ceramic' paste waxes with silica in them as well. I believe I remember 22ple maybe has a mid-range sprayable coating product also?
I'm late here but you should check out TAC Systems Total Ones Essential. It's a Polish/Glaze ( All In One ) that leaves behind a base layer of silica. No need to wipe down with an IPA. Can go directly to an Si02 sealant (One Step Master or Moonlight ) or coating. According to TAC .... lasts 1yr on it's own. I have it and I'll say the gloss is significant. Could be more a result of the "semi-permanent fillers".
its in this video buddy. but I have another video of it coming soon, yer its a cool product, like a silica based glaze. I think you still need to do a degrease wipedown of it after its had some time to cure, so say after 102 hours degrease wipedown then apply ceramic. I think.
Essence topped with Essence Plus or Reload is sort of what your saying. It's like a ceramic AG SRP with UHD Wax. Only downside is it doesn't have the warmth other LSPs have, a ceramic Wolfgang Deep Gloss would be ace ;)
possibly (that was one reason for the note* section in the video description). but the capro stuff is developed now in house so different materials and formulations. but that essence plus stuff sounds more like a non abrasive version of the primer product you can use on top of a coating to fill swirls, you would not lay it on a fresh primered finish i dont think. Or you could use it on bare paint. But is the material in it the same stuff thats generally in silica primers (prolly not)? and is that the same stuff or similiar materials in 1 step master. I would guess no because 1 step master doesnt say it can be used to repair coatings.. sounds like different things. thats one thing i considered. Is 1 step master totally unique? or is there anything else like it out there.
@@ForensicDetailing Yes, I get what your saying, I've been wanting to get some of the Tac products. I've used essence plus on bare paint and it doesn't fill swirls like it does on a ceramic coat, which wasn't a shocker. It's ok on essence, as essence doesn't have the hydrophobic qualities so i don't personally think of it as an AIO. I guess I kind of have moved away from ceramic coats (bar wheels) as I like to try new things and though they can be topped with anything, I do like to get the polisher out as I own more polishes and compounds than LSPs lol. The coat just stops so many detailing options. Not saying ceramics aren't good, like others have said just don't have the longevity they claim... even with their own shampoos and potions. C1 and EXO lasted about 6 months, before loosing the hydrophobic. But then again I dont think washing the car every week helps, I'm probably not the target market :)
I have used this Ceramic coat from TAC, kind of by accident. Needed something quick to protect the car without going full ceramic, because it was middle of winter and polishing car on driveway in show was not on top of my favourites list. in2detailing had it on discount and I thought it will be better product then just cheap supermarket stuff, yet might give ~2 month protection until I can polish the car and apply proper ceramic - paid like £4 or £6. To cut story short - I was kind of disappointed, the product applied and buffed easily, but gave no shine whatsoever in comparison with say cheap silicone based or even carnauba waxes. Call looked ~ok, but I would not be able to tell if it was just washed or waxed as well. After 2 weeks it was as dirty as bare paint would be (so no water/dirt repellent effect which would be expected from silica), it was not easier to wash and I was not able to tell if any wax was left after single wash. Experimented little bit more second time around - degreased the car to remove wax, used alcohol panel wipe before applying to ensure what ever is in there would have best chance to work and applied on exactly one half of the car + 1 front wheel. Let it stray for 15 min just because of low temp outside (it was like ~10C, but sunny), buffed it off and left other side completely unprotected, bare paint ... I was not bothered, because I planned to do full detail of the car couple of month later. Drove for a week, for 2, a month and there were no difference whatsoever between 2 sides. Washed the cars after a month and again there were no noticeable difference between side I applied the product on and not applied anything... if anything the wheel I applied this product seemed more caked-up with brake dust than other 3. Still have half somewhere and not sure what to use it for or if I have done anything wrong. Was the temperature too low for it to cure or was it just some sort of bad batch..
I think its just a polymer sealant. Its not silica based. so its the one step master perhaps that Im more interested in because its silica. Im going to try ceramic coat as well though. but the above doesnt great. dont know but that does sound odd. ill reply to this when ive used the stuff LP.
Another great video man. I think though Ceramic Pro Sport was on the market some 3-4 years ahead. It hardens and it can be applied on top of Ceramic coating or below of a water based silica spray, so I guess it is this middle ground you (and I) are so excited about. Did you try it?
that looks like a water based spray sealant. so thats like the quartz max or water coat. Its not like the "ceramic coat", 1step master, or moonlight. Its a maintenance product not that durable base sealant milen
I have looked att both 1step and ceramic coat from tac systems about two years ago but what i dont understand is why they have both moonlight wich also has 20-25%sio2 and these two creamier products. I just found it to maybe be quicker to lay down moonlight than these two products, cuz if you have to spread them out with an applicator and then buff with an mftowel you can instead lay down a hybrid sio2wax on the same amount of time. Lets say gyeon sio2 primer or tacs ->angelwax enigma hybrid sio2wax-> and maintainence could be wetcoat, hydro2lite, waterglass or there "qd" versions cure, max, forgot the name of carpros ah reload. Just my thoughts on this. Great vid as always!
i only use sonax bsd these days, after i've compound/polished a car i give it another wash with regular car soap and some degreaser, then spray some bsd on a MF drying towel and once its dry i grab another clean normal MF cloth and give the car a final wipe with a little bit of bsd and this gives me the result i want and durability and its the most time effective way to give a car decent protection in a very short amount of time
possibly fiori. if Im doing full decon and polish Im gonna lay down something different to BSD though. (bsd is so damn strong though yer dont get me wrong, your not doing anything bad, just not what I choose, ill top with BSD perhaps) I want a sort of heavier base sealant.
I saw it but its not price competativly. sorry I love the line and I want to explore it because theres gems in it potentially and they are obviously cutting edge and an important brand, but holy smokes that price tag of that stuff for an abrasive cleaner and how much you get.. not for me that one. thats the sort of product you want by the litre for 10-15 quid
mate you probably could but without testing its hard for me to confirm compatability with any specific product.. products come along after the point this one was developed
How are the Tac systems Ceramic coatings??? They have a 70% sio2 and 90% sio2 coating for decent price. . awsome that they tell you the % actually Place by me sells tac systems now so another option than carpro & geyon
@@platinumautoglasswindowtin88 ya seen that too. You think they tac systems ceramic is better than carpros? Carpro dosent include a % so I'm gonna assume the tac syst is more high solids?
Pestilence Nigh I really don't know. I think it's an elusive game chasing for the best coatings. My strategy is : put a coating on that's rated for 2 years which really means that it will last for 1 year in the Canadian climate. Then get customer to come in every 6-12 months for a top coat application like Moonlight or Cancoat. Put Beadmaker on in spring or summer and use Moonlight or Cancoat in fall or early winter.
I am still playing catch up with these type of products as I have that many waxes/sealants to use 😂 Can Coat will be my first venture into mild ceramics. Then have a cheap ceramic to try out before a full blown ceramoc coating from Tenzi (distributed by the Clay Cloth Company). Should be interesting!
Have you been able to try Feynlabs products? They have a water based si02 quick detailer as a topper and a "ceramic" sealant, with their own coatings, and their primer is a clay lube. Made here in the suburbs a of Chicago.
cheers aran, yes it is (just had confirmation of that). so a more traditional PDMS style offering, but it can be used in the suite of products still. that kind of draws my attention/interest more to 1 step master just because its different. cant wait to test them out though. (note it does also mean "ceramic coat" wins the award for worst product name, like ever... :) )
TAC System’s Ceramic Coat seems very cheap compared to other products ? For 9 months claimed protection for less than £10 is a bargain - compared to their one step master which offers 6 months at about £25 ?
Hello, how are you? I'm from Argentina, the truth is that I do not know English, but I watch your videos the same even though I do not understand but I learn the same. You're a genius... Could you tell me the d-limosene what would it be? I made one of your waxes and they are the best. and now I want to do another but I can not find the elements like the wax of mont ... I speak to you by a translator hehehe greetings from argentina
Hi John I have a question I am going to visit England in summer I live in us I want some soft bilt hamber soft clay bars a the automatic rust protector can I buy it at local stores I also want dooka wash mit since cant get hear if I can get at local stores witch ones if not I will email and ask to ship to hotel oh and how do you use rust prevention it's a not clear on website thanks John
Does this system still require the cure time that a conventional ceramic coating does? I think that's where most weekend warriors, like myself, are put off.
so depends with of the 3 silica base sealants you pick. I believe 1 step master no cure time, "ceramic coat" polymer sealant lol 10 mins cure to buff. moonlight I think 4-6 hours for virtual cure but possibly longer for like complete cure (not 100% sure no that, perhaps conditions play a bit like a coating)
this best way to describe it. would you do full prep and polish on a car say putting in a ton of hours multiple days of polishing. Then lay down a water based silica spray that will give you good hydrophobicity and performance for a 1-2month. typically you will want a beefy sealant type product or a ceramic coating. The water spray silica sealants became popular with the consumer market because they are letest gen kind of, and sexy and decent. But what sort of heavier type silica base sealants that you could use after full prep's are out there. so thats why i think moonlight is popular as a lightweight alternative to a full on coating. 1 step could be like the alternative to moonlight as an even easier consumer product. If it is then you have a good system with it where you can also make use of the primers, and maintainance products. I dont think any brand yet have put in place like a popular mass market silica full suite of products that are alternates to the full on ceramic route. If that was done well it could be huge. you can see the interest in like Megs Ceramic Spray wax on the shelf of like halfords. Image a Suite of products from Megs all based around silica. thats why i think this has lots of potential and I reckon theres a good chance someone will understand what Im talking about and do something like this soon. so far little bits has been taken by the wider scene, but not this angle if you see what im saying.
Great catch, Jon. Agreed on your insight of this potential. As i've tried using essence followed with essence plus on uncoated car. Maintained using reload and hydro2 lite. The gloss and dirt repellency has been better than normal waxes and polymer based sealants.
@@ForensicDetailing Ah, now I get it. Thanks for the explanation. You are dead on. definite market opportunity there which is exactly why I got interested in Moonlight which is very difficult to even get in the US.
Hello, can anyone tell me if there’s a detailing fb groups please? I’ve got a few questions I’d like to open up the the pros for advice. Thanks in advance.
you read the brochure? 9H refers to pencil led hardness and them simply running a pencil down it to see if it leaves any damage. Not exactly hard. And most ceramic coatings ive used last no where near their stated protection length. Maybe if you didn't wash your car often but then that defeats the objective.
capro manufacture in house nowadays. vritually impossible for any company starting up in the world of coatings to manufacture so lots work with formulators like TAC. but half the rumours going around are never usually accurate rickard.
I never started to follow the lie of these silica water based spray sealant products. They have nothing special that cheaper sealants couldn't perform better. What could be a easier coating than for say Optimum Gloss-Coat?
the materials come into the industry from large chemical specialists that engineer them for specific functions. And those sorts of companies dont engineer a silica with a product claim that cannot be proven, cuz thats mass litigation territory right there. but that being said I know where your coming from, you dont think you can tell any difference as an end user..
A lot of what you speak about hear reminds me of the QP-ON Detailing Products. I have not tried the QP-ON coatings yet, but I have heard they are pretty darn good. Supposedly you can use their coatings on just about any surface including interior surfaces, trim, paint, glass, wheel rims, and anything in between. www.qp-on.com/en/products ua-cam.com/video/QsWT3hK5nfM/v-deo.html
I’m guessing that Moonlight beats the likes of gyeon, car pro, dodo future armour?? Are there any new products out with the same longevity as the moonlight? Thanks John 👍🏼👍🏼
moonlight and cancoat are comparable as lightweight ceramics. dodo future armour is more similiar to wet coat i think its a spray and rinse. Carpro lite is similiar to moonlight on durability have a look at my 24 sealants on one test panel video I shot recently to see how it compares.
I enjoyed this vid but I watched this twice but my little brain doesn't understand lol. What does the silica resin based stuff give you over ceramic coating zalazane stuff 🧐. Is it silica stuff easy to apply and that's why it's a topper. 😁
it can be easily applied and buffed back just like using a wax or sealant, without having to worry about like high spots setting like rock and potentially needing to be sanded or heavy compounding to remove, and getting every bit of a coating off the car would be a nightmare should the application go wrong. Its also a lot cheaper, no like layering delays. It also offers some of the self cleaning properties of the materials used in full blooded ceramics. And its compatible with all the prep and maintainance products in the video. Obviously though its not giving you the long term durability and performance of a full blooded coating. So its basically a Silica base sealant. And Ive not seen these take off yet.
@@ForensicDetailing thank you that makes sense now. I see why there is a gap in the market. For me it was moonlight as I didn't want a full blown ceramic as I was worried I would mess it up but I guess the silica stuff is even easier to apply than moonlight. Cheers for the info. Look forward to the new vids.
total one essential. I used it on the car I have some videos in the tank on it.. very thick and heavy to use by hand. but if you work slowly with it and leave it alone after application for a while results were great. Ceramic coat as far as I can see is just an average sealant.
Genuinely don't understand what Gap there is, these products are already out there and well established. Easy, non fussy ceramic style products for the home user. Seemed more like you found just another brand? Sorry I'm confused.
the maintainance products for coatings, the watery white spray on things, went main stream right, went kind of "viral", popular, millions of offerings etc (too many to list) . due to the sucess of certain products in that field. But the heavy silica resin full on base sealant didnt go viral, because the companies that created the popularity of the spray on products actually used full blooded ceramic coatings as their "base" style sealant offering.. And this alternative "non ceramic" silica base system provides you with an option thats not widely available on the market. EG a full silica style sealant product to use like a normal sealant, in the chain of products I show.
Me too. I'm kinda used to see new product coming out from big brands like meguiars ceramic wax and adams version that are spray on ceramic. They are easy to apply (spray on, wipe over and wipe off) and provide really good beading for a couple of month. My take on the market trend is that we are starting to get equal (or close to) performance from a spray on product than with sealant that need to be apply with a pad, hazed for 30min and buffed off. The differences in application are not worth compared to the difference in performance. I got a half bottle of wolfgang sealant left that i can't get myself to apply since i need to do the whole wash/clay/application. I'll rather do a quick spray on application of a product every couple of month than have a sealant on for 6 months.
I dont think they do. at least the 3 alternative baseline sealant style products Im talkng about there. 1 step master, moonlight, and ceramic coating (which is a polymer sealant, normal type bonding sealant if you like).
the title is exactly what the video is introduced to be and exactly what the video is all about? is that clickbait, honestly dunno first time someone said that to me I think in 3 years. but if my prediction comes true you will see these spread over the market (and when i say these, its the specific thing I was saying is the gap). When you say these are just another reload, you have TOTALLY not absorbed any of the information in this video. I mean like totally.
Except tac made reload back in the day not anymore carpro went from Korea to Japan now for manufacturing goods. Do some deep web digging and you will find tac sys really did put silica on the map they just arent mnown themselves they made product for other large names. It's sad tac has issues in its company causing stock issues in the states because the products are quality.
I’ll never understand why this guy doesn’t have as many views /followers as Larry ammo nyc
Maybe because Larry does that to sell his products and uses a lot of marketing. Otherwise, Jon is here to inform and teach.
Conclusion: people is interessed in watch a 'show' not to learn. 🤔
I have no idea, Jon is the Don. 😁
@@Brian.H.. I'm 30 and prefer apex and forensic am I old or young crowd lol.
Like first, watch second. You know it’ll be good.
The Tac-systems moonlight and Gyeon wet coat combo is an awesome system can’t recommend that enough 👌🏻👌🏻
rattlehead85 I was thinking about using that combo, thanks for sharing that info. Has anybody done or does anybody know if Gyeon Booster can be top-coated on Cancoat? I was wondering if there is enough Sio2 content in Cancoat to be considered a "basecoat" for the Booster to be applied on.
Jon, I thought this video was one of your best.
You can use Reload too and it’s even better. Gyeon is not as good as CARPRO and it’s more expensive than many companies.
Car pro better that dodo future armour??
I'm very happy and thanks for this again.
hey buddy sorry I cant read DM's on insta I just use like the developer mode on my PC to upload.
Can you review TAC systems full blown coatings please
They just came into the US marke and my contact there, David, is an incredible guy and anyone reading this in the USA needs to look them up www.tacsystemusa.com
Btw they've had an Sio2 spray on, hose off sealant for quite some time now and yes, it's great!
Great recommendation
i actually prefer Seal on my tyres than i do Perl.
Does it have the same greasy touch that car pro pearl where you need to buff off the excess on tire and interior (diluted 1:5 in my case). Pearl is a good product, but tires tend to develop a greasy residue few hours after application that i don't like.
Benjamin Založnik Here in Canada it’s the same price for both of them.
To me Tac System and CARPRO are sisters company. They have the same top quality and offer pretty much the same products. They are my go too now 2 companies for my clients. I pay more for my products but it make my job easier and my clients happier.
I've used the ceramic coat from tac and it's extremely easy to use, I enjoyed using it! Gives good results too.
I've been using tac system for couple of months now have moonlight, quartz max, shinee wax, mystic water repellent
I love using the quartz max spary easy to use great results for me..
ok let me throw a wrench in the machine!
Why should we (the average consumer) buy products with a standing time of 6 months and longer where the average detailer (guilty) cant keep his hands of his car for more than a couple of weeks, before he starts washing waxing and polishing the damn thing again!
xraylax I could not agree more, any product I use needs to have a longevity of 10 to 14 days, I can’t understand people who claim to be ‘enthusiastic ‘ detailers criticising products for only lasting 3 to 4 months!
ptvfr800 exactly
The longest I have ever gone without washing and waxing my car is, maybe 2 months ! Due to some broken ribs.
I want to coat my car after detailing, should I go with gtechnique or tac? I want hydrophobic, colour depth also protection
Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light topped with Exo is very popular.
@@ForensicDetailing yep it's my favorite wax and what a shine it gives John decent durability aswell mate. Can't beat old school fella. 👍👍😂😂
@Shane I'm 24, and prefer to wax my cars once a month or so. Still looks best in my eyes.
@@brandonherrera2891 good man I am with you there I don't think any other product give you the shine that a good wax does and the collinite waxes Last a good amount of time. Its also very therapeutic aswell you just feel like it's a job well done
@@Carvetii you should try P21S its been around for years and will put a glass like shine on your prepped car.
I need to revisit it, I just couldnt get it to do 8 months by a fair margin, but guys I speak to have good results with it.
Nice one Jon,
We amateurs who do a fairly high mileage need a resilient base that is easy to apply and can be topped up when we wash our cars to give the satisfaction of seeing the beading and gloss.
Graham check out waxedshine aquaboost or aquabead both are phenomenal toppers or stand alone products. The entire line from ws is very solid
You should try one-step master on a dull black paint, it has one of the best glaze effects i have ever seen.
Ultimate Fast Finish as a base with Beadmaker as a topper. Inexpensive & good enough for a DIY’er
24 quid. for an 8oz capacity can. bit pricey that. dunno Im looking at PNS to go in the spray sealant thing.. this stuff I might put in or something from megauirs if not this.
Just curious?
carpro essence plus is designed for that function wayne.
I would like to hear and see more about these tac systems products. And what you like and don't like when using it
Would One Step be a good topper for TW ceramic spray? Add some more gloss... Thanks!
its not a topper Drew
Jon, you were definitely on to something a year ago...One Step is just now on back order most places.
Thanks mate @@ForensicDetailing
John, great video! I know this video was a while ago but can you stack these products?
ye s m8
Jon would TAC Moon Light and carpro Reload work almost as well ?
Got moonlight myself not opened it yet though will try when bit warmer
Adam ceramic spray is in The same boll park i think. 9h ceramic that looks like moonlight. Have not tryed it yet. What do you think?
Robban Halvarsson sold out and expensive.
Yeh it has to have alot going for it to be beating moonlight. Only time and trying The products Will we know.
Get in there your smashing this uploading new vids atm
i only use sonax bsd these days, after i've compound/polished a car i give it another wash with regular car soap and some degreaser, then spray some bsd on a MF drying towel and once its dry i grab another clean normal MF cloth and give the car a final wipe with a little bit of bsd and this gives me the result i want and durability and its the most time effective way to give a car decent protection in a very short amount of time
possibly fiori. if Im doing full decon and polish Im gonna lay down something different to BSD though. (bsd is so damn strong though yer dont get me wrong, your not doing anything bad, just not what I choose, ill top with BSD perhaps) I want a sort of heavier base sealant.
John, you should start a distribution company for shipping the UK products you use to us in the USA
Hi Jon, there is another product in TAC system product line looks very interesting, the paint cleaner. Did you get the chance to use it?
I saw it but its not price competativly. sorry I love the line and I want to explore it because theres gems in it potentially and they are obviously cutting edge and an important brand, but holy smokes that price tag of that stuff for an abrasive cleaner and how much you get.. not for me that one. thats the sort of product you want by the litre for 10-15 quid
Hi Jon, is the silica resin product similar to essence plus?
Eventually we'll get factory installed ceramic that hopefully doesn't suck
Can I put Moonlight on top of Angelwax AG metallic wax?
Can you use the primer for any ceramic coating? Like carpro or kamikaze?
mate you probably could but without testing its hard for me to confirm compatability with any specific product.. products come along after the point this one was developed
Would you do a review on Si-stal by kkd that's a silica product and if applied properly up to 12months protection
Isn't the angelwax enigma system basically what you are describing ?
Wasn't opticoat 2.0 one of the first like this? Zaino also to a point but opticoat had a weird mix thing and bonded solid.
How are the Tac systems Ceramic coatings??? They have a 70% sio2 and 90% sio2 coating for decent price. . awsome that they tell you the % actually Place by me sells tac systems now so another option than carpro & geyon
Pestilence Nigh tac also has a 60% Sio2 called Magic Plus. Use that product for the wheels
I am still playing catch up with these type of products as I have that many waxes/sealants to use 😂
Can Coat will be my first venture into mild ceramics.
Feynlab is the best 👍
I believe Ceramic Coat is a polymer sealant. It has the application of ceramic, easy buff off like a wax.
cheers aran, yes it is (just had confirmation of that). so a more traditional PDMS style offering, but it can be used in the suite of products still. that kind of draws my attention/interest more to 1 step master just because its different. cant wait to test them out though. (note it does also mean "ceramic coat" wins the award for worst product name, like ever... :) )
Can anyone recommend a good clay mitt for trade use ? Nothing too expensive or aggressive just need it for light claying without polishing afterwards
NOT a spray on coating BUT check out
KKD SI-STAL!!
TAC System’s Ceramic Coat seems very cheap compared to other products ? For 9 months claimed protection for less than £10 is a bargain - compared to their one step master which offers 6 months at about £25 ?
Check out autobrite ceramic coating and sprints top up spray. I wonder if that's what ur talking about.
What the primer product to the left of those other products?
Hello, how are you? I'm from Argentina, the truth is that I do not know English, but I watch your videos the same even though I do not understand but I learn the same. You're a genius...
Could you tell me the d-limosene what would it be? I made one of your waxes and they are the best. and now I want to do another but I can not find the elements like the wax of mont ... I speak to you by a translator hehehe greetings from argentina
Can tac be used as a drying aid?
not the prodocuts shown in this video. They have a spray and rinse product and shinee wax which could.
Hi John I have a question I am going to visit England in summer I live in us I want some soft bilt hamber soft clay bars a the automatic rust protector can I buy it at local stores I also want dooka wash mit since cant get hear if I can get at local stores witch ones if not I will email and ask to ship to hotel oh and how do you use rust prevention it's a not clear on website thanks John
o m look at some uk detailing shops and see if any will be near you
Hi,the Adams Polish closed the gap,the ceramic spray already on shelfs. and they fooled us all !
have a watch again sasha
dude i can never find moonlight it was back for 24hrs and sold out here in the USA
How can i get this in USA?
theres a US distributor I believe DC. Im not sure who, ill try and find out mate
Hi could you please do a cheap polished shootout like Ebay specials thanks
Does this system still require the cure time that a conventional ceramic coating does? I think that's where most weekend warriors, like myself, are put off.
so depends with of the 3 silica base sealants you pick. I believe 1 step master no cure time, "ceramic coat" polymer sealant lol 10 mins cure to buff. moonlight I think 4-6 hours for virtual cure but possibly longer for like complete cure (not 100% sure no that, perhaps conditions play a bit like a coating)
I am not understanding how it's different. I am missing the point. It sounds to me like just another sio2 sealant
this best way to describe it. would you do full prep and polish on a car say putting in a ton of hours multiple days of polishing.
How about meguires hybrid ceramic spray, that's water activated?
dont think its water activated.. just water carried.. but who knows. megs ceramic spray thing looks like their version of this sort of product.
@@ForensicDetailing really enjoy the channel. I have followed several recommended products and detailing procedures that you have highlighted.
Hello, can anyone tell me if there’s a detailing fb groups please? I’ve got a few questions I’d like to open up the the pros for advice. Thanks in advance.
facebook.com/groups/Detailingaddicts/
Adams new Ceramic Spray will give up to 8 months protection and has a hardness level of H9.
you read the brochure? 9H refers to pencil led hardness and them simply running a pencil down it to see if it leaves any damage. Not exactly hard. And most ceramic coatings ive used last no where near their stated protection length. Maybe if you didn't wash your car often but then that defeats the objective.
James H car clear coat has a typical hardness of 4h, what’s your point?
Watch pan the organiser he reviews Adams new ceramic spray and tells you there its hardness is H9 he is the first to test it
Gyeonc Can coat / can coat pro ?
Rumours say that TAC is the manufacturer for Carpro...
capro manufacture in house nowadays. vritually impossible for any company starting up in the world of coatings to manufacture so lots work with formulators like TAC. but half the rumours going around are never usually accurate rickard.
your genious
Ammo reflex. Not a sealer, not a ceramic. It's a petrol based coating
Moonlight smells exactly like Feynlab Ceramic Lite
Stay chuffed

What ever happened with that one step and the ceramic coat? I want to buy this 2 products.
Did it work for you?
total one essential. I used it on the car I have some videos in the tank on it.. very thick and heavy to use by hand. but if you work slowly with it and leave it alone after application for a while results were great.
Ceramic coat as far as I can see is just an average sealant.
looks like you called it bang on....all the big labels slapping ceramic on it for the sake of calling it ceramic lol
Shield by Hybrid-X does a good job of filling this gap.
I am going to be in london gonna land in Heathrow central london I guess
Shotgun! First Comment
2.0 Jon? 😜
Si-STAL?
I believe Car pro has all the products your talking about.
I dont think they do. at least the 3 alternative baseline sealant style products Im talkng about there. 1 step master, moonlight, and ceramic coating (which is a polymer sealant, normal type bonding sealant if you like).
This is a little bit clickbait! The products are just another Reload or other Silica spray sealant.
the title is exactly what the video is introduced to be and exactly what the video is all about? is that clickbait, honestly dunno first time someone said that to me I think in 3 years.
but if my prediction comes true you will see these spread over the market (and when i say these, its the specific thing I was saying is the gap). When you say these are just another reload, you have TOTALLY not absorbed any of the information in this video. I mean like totally.
Clearly haven't listened to the video, you've seen the first min or two and came to a conclusion. a wrong one at that.
Missed the mark there, bub. These are in a different category altogether than reload, cure, etc.
@Graham I watched the whole thing.
