Jared, I’ve followed you on the living in Jackson MS channel and was super thrilled to find this video! Does this mean you’re moving to Memphis as well or do you just cover various areas? Hopefully we’ll be in contact soon, my husband’s job may be relocating us to either Jackson MS or Memphis TN so I’m beyond thrilled to see you covering both locations! Thanks for all your information!
Hi Nikki! I'm in both cities a lot and noticed there was a lack of content available about Memphis just like what we had in Jackson, so I partnered up with Kris to make it happen here as well!
@@MovingToMemphis that’s awesome! I’ve already told hubby that you’ll be our realtor should we get lucky and move to Jackson! Thank you for doing these videos, they’ve truly given me tons of insight and helped me feel more at ease with the prospect of moving! Definitely keep up the great work 🙂
@@MovingToMemphis Y'all obviously ain't from Memphis there is no west Memphis smh that's just Arkansas, and you can't even let this young woman know how dangerous it is right now there's so much activity don't go anywhere after dark don't stop at red lights
@@marcusanthony470 I haven’t hidden the fact that I’m new to Memphis, but that’s why I’ve partnered with Kris, who has lived in Memphis his entire life, to make this content for people looking to move to the area. We also haven’t hidden that there are areas with crime. West Memphis is in fact what the area across the river in Arkansas is called so I’m not sure what you’re getting at there. I do appreciate you commenting. Neither Kris nor myself have the same experiences you have, so feel free to check out our other videos and give additional insight. There’s only so much a real estate agent can convey, and people moving to the area would appreciate your point of view. Just remember there are a lot of great things and great people in this city and surrounding area, don’t get caught up completely in the negative.
You know I was thinking we had mentioned it but we don’t script these videos, just try to stay real and genuine with it. We may need to make an updated version. Either way, I’m working on several upcoming videos about Cordova soon so stay tuned. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
I enjoyed the video. Having been a Realtor for many years, I understand there are certain things you can't do - such as talk badly about an area. I think it's called "steering" clients (away from/or to any area). That said, I've been to Memphis no less than 20 times on business and I would always stay at the Residence Inn, downtown on Monroe. It's a beautiful old semi-high rise. I'd be there up to approx 2 weeks per trip and did a lot of scouting around, so I feel as tho' I know the area fairly well. I love older, established neighborhoods vs. new construction. Unfortunately, many of the neighborhoods I looked at fitting that description were higher crime areas. i.e. the neighborhood over around Audubon Park area. Love the huge trees, shading, etc. I was talking to a professional man in a store in the area, asked him his thoughts about living in that part of Memphis. He gave the pros/cons. He asked from where I would be relocating. I said Charleston, SC (born/raised). His next words were, "well, the first thing I'd do is recommend you go see a psychologist if you're thinking of leaving Charleston, SC, and heading toward Memphis, TN." I dismissed his comments and thought, if you're into history, beaches, etc., Charleston is your place. I'm into retro music, music history, etc. and Memphis is so rich, historically, in those areas. The next place I looked, with a Realtor, was (don't remember the name) but condos that had been converted from the old Holiday Inn on the river. The downside to that was, I will always have a dog, and I'm not keen on having to leash up a dog, get on an elevator, etc. every time my dog has to pee. Other than this, I loved the condo I was looking at in the bldg. I kept finding myself drawn to the Whitehaven area because it appeared most things were left pretty much intact in the area over the years. I fell in love with an area, Old Hickory Estates (I think is the name ... Old Hickory blvd) ... old homes, huge-shaded lots. Locals were telling me it was crime-ridden back there, so stay clear. The homes looked very well maintained, etc., and just didn't fit a typical high crime neighborhood. I still kept going back there. The few properties on the market at the time were just over 100k (dirt cheap), but also very dated, which I attributed the low pricing. Wrapping up the novel I've written, I wish you guys were around when I was strongly considering a move to Memphis. Things changed with the health of my parents within a year of my last trip, so I had to put my plan on hold. Again, sorry for the "War & Peace" transcript but, even now, I can appreciate what you guys are doing and, as I said, wish I'd had this service then. My Realtor was anxious to make a sell so she would've been happy to sell me something in the highest crime area - wherever that may be in town. Plus, I knew she was restricted to some degree with what she could and couldn't say.
Thanks for all the insight! It’s great to hear other peoples experiences and I know our audience appreciates it too. If you ever revisit the idea of moving we would love to help!
Oh goodness, I work in Memphis and it's horrible! I've had my truck broken into and need frequent alignments because the roads aren't taken care of. It's high crime and you need to be careful. Yes there are pretty areas but very few places to shop that are safe. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The work ethic here is horrible as well. This is why there aren't as many big companies here.
Sorry to hear that Tara. We haven't had the same experience. There are some major problems for sure but I wouldn't say that the entire city is bad. More good than bad actually. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Anyone who thinks Memphis has more good then is out of their mind!!! The statistics speak for themselves second highest crime rate in the United States !!!! Do not move to horrible hell on earth Memphis!!!
Don't end up singing the blues about your move to Memphis!

You don’t get out much do you? Memphis has problems for sure, but “hell on earth”? Go troll some other channel
What about hockey
Hockey is one sport I don't know anything about.
Housing about the hood
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking
