Nardwaur always hangs out at Neptoon for many reasons. To do Interviews, shopping, getting records & posters for upcoming interviews & gifts courtesy of the owner & major memrobilia collector Rob Frith.
Awesome tour Mazzy it was very cool to see the VC meetup with Rachel and Steve Westman at the record shop. I love the architecture of the Ritual records and Beat Street records looks cool also.
Very nice video, very interesting shops.i just picked up in a charity shop in London a 4 cd box set (25 years of rough trade record shops) ,can't wait to play it. Luv the show.
@6:00 Record shopping in downtown Vancouver on a beautiful and sunny early September day with Joni Mitchell "hissing of summer lawns" playing in the store seems like a quintessential Canadian moment.
Everyday Music Portland - shopped there last week. It is across from a theater and down the street from Powell books. It was a good store. Part of our Portland store and Art in the Pearl cr@ft show.
Smoke Get's in Your Eyes, The Platters big hit. Nice to wake up, get my espresso and go to Vancouver all from the comfort of my home. Nice diversion from the days tasks, thanks Mazzy, you get anything?
Oh wow; did not realize the Everyday in Bellingham is now Ritual. Glad it's another shop. I was bummed when Avalon (used to be kitty corner to Everyday) burned down a number of years ago and they just never reopened while I was in the area. Used to live in Mount Vernon and frequented BC. My old partner lives on Commercial Ave in East Van, and in easy walking distance to Audiopile. Scored many great deals there! Neptoon is great, though I only went once or twice, sadly.
I used to live in Abbotsford B.C. and was in Vancouver and Bellingham all the time, miss it. Met Nardwuar at a show ‘The Amazing Hypno Diet with Mecca Normal and Beat Happening plus others. Believe that was one of the last shows Beat Happening played.
1:00 It's a vortex. It's the cave downhill to Journey to the Center of the Earth. It's the washed out eye in PSYCHO's shower. It's the dolley down the stairwell shaft in VERTIGO. It's the eye of a squid in 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA. It's the sky-high sandstorm from FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX. It's - - 3:59 Jaysus those cakes look better than what I got.
well - I don't think I've ever seen Rachel less animated and so serious looking for Records! - Cheers - btw, yesterday I picked up 300 albums & 6 Minus Mint original 1st release Beatles for $12. I'm pretty stocked up... I'm afraid to clean them (albeit they're pretty clean) or Play.
Mazzy, I am overwhelmed with this video. Nardwuar should be your brother in a perfect world, with Rachel being the Mom. There is a place for Vinyl Richie somewhere. 😊
My Home town! I've met Nardwuar! He's quite a bit different in real life. I forget his first name Tom, or John or William...that basement was giving me claustrophobia.
Great store. I was in Vancouver on a 12 hour stopover a few years back and went on a record store tour. All these stores and I too saw Nardwuar but didn't bother him. It was actually record store day so all the stores were buzzing. I lived at 26th and Main in '94 and wow has the area changed since then.
It is my practice, by habit, to do the opposite of what I'm told, and so I paused this video googled "Dave Clark / plastic surgery" and was greeted with an image of a Dick Tracy villain...only it's real. Mazzy's right, I didn't like what I saw. After a "yikes" "sheesh" and a random WTAF I'm pleased to announce that I am fully recovered from the experience. Let's all take a moment and be quite thankful that Mazzy hasn't gotten any brilliant ideas about doing the same thing...
Shouldn't they be playing Gordon Lightfoot or Joni Mitchell or NoMeansNo or Skinny Puppy or someone more Canadian than Neil Diamond (like Neil Young or Neal Peart) in that coffeehouse?
You skipped over at least 3 gems/somewhat obscure/hard to get vinyl LP's at 6:15 there Mazzy...Warm Dust "Peace for Our Time", Ford Theater "Trilogy for the Masses" and Kaleidoscope "Incredible Kaleidoscope"....C'mon man...
Nardwar!!!! How in the heck did you manage that! And so good to see you and Rachel meeting up! Great video!
Nardwaur always hangs out at Neptoon for many reasons. To do Interviews, shopping, getting records & posters for upcoming interviews & gifts courtesy of the owner & major memrobilia collector Rob Frith.
nardwuar is a total legend. Can't believe you found him just hanging around. There's a guy who could write a book.
Nice work Mazzy…Neptoon is my Happy Place, I’m glad Rob let you in the basement and you got to meet Nardwuar!🤘
I'd look for Chilliwack, Poppy Family, Stonebolt, Papa Bears Medicine Show, & Mother Tuckers Yellow Duck
Two of the places I've ordered stuff from discogs before, BeatStreet and Neptoon. Cool to see and love Nardwar too!
Glad I have wealthy VC friends to live vicariously through.. these are your best videos

« So, do I have to pay extra for the finger thing? » 😂😂😂
Enjoyed the tour. I could stay in that Neptoon records basement forever!!! Great stuff. Hope to see more.

Really wonderful video. You have Rachel and Nardwuar in it! Two of my favourites!
Joni playing in Beatstreet Records was so evocative. Had to listen to the album several times today, not that much of an excuse is needed!
Great to meet you Mazzy! Brush with greatness!❤❤❤
beatstreet was playing Joni's Hissing of Summer Lawns - nice
Everyday Music Portland - shopped there last week. It is across from a theater and down the street from Powell books.
It was a good store. Part of our Portland store and Art in the Pearl cr@ft show.
Yeah Ive been there several times. They closed there other Portland store when they closed Seattle and Bellingham.
The reverse psychology made me look up dave clark plastic surgery and now im shaking, huddled in the corner, scared and confused.
Awesome video 🎉😊

What a great video. Thank you!
I do like your travelogue episodes
Cool tour of the record stores! Imagine bumping into Rachel like that 😀 That guy at the end looks like he's related to Kirk Hammett of Metallica haha
Two Legends !
wow never seeing that border so quiet. Where was the 2 hour line

7:10 Now there's an assistant I would buy a used record from.
That DC5 album is great with true stereo versions of a lot of the hits.
Ritual in Bellingham was a Cellophane Square for decades Before it was Everyday. Still looks the same inside.
well - I don't think I've ever seen Rachel less animated and so serious looking for Records! - Cheers -

Whackatoon! What a great basement. Love the customs questions btw! :)
Love Vancouver
Twinn Connexion, the original Lemon Twigs. I wonder how much they wanted for that album?
Awesome! I love Nardwuar!!!! DOOOOOOT DOOOOOT

Doesn’t Rachel have enough Beatles. Dave Clark was smart to get the rights to the music.
Fab.............love that t- shirt.
Hello i'm french and YOU make Me dreaming !!😮😮 Not for cakes . FOR RECORDS, FIELDS OF RECORDS !😊
DC5 records have been easy to find, but good condition a little harder. A boot is about. Thanks for taking your invisible friends along.
Mazzy, I am overwhelmed with this video. Nardwuar should be your brother in a perfect world, with Rachel being the Mom. There is a place for Vinyl Richie somewhere. 😊
I love Nardwuar, i don't know what I'd do if i saw him, he seems like a cartoon character to me so it would be so strange
Cartoon character is a good description. Sweet guy 🤠
true story my friend found out, through DNA, that Chubby Checker is her father.
Love Vinyl
Nardwuar's dungeon! How cool!
Very big store. I think too big. Try an album from the Dutch group Supersister: Present from Nancy, It will blow your mind!
I concur , HOW DID YOU MEET UP WITH Nardwuar, the legend ,he did such a great interview with ALVVAYS !
My Home town! I've met Nardwuar! He's quite a bit different in real life. I forget his first name Tom, or John or William...that basement was giving me claustrophobia.
Love BC

Hey did you miss Red Cat Records on Main Street In Vancouver? Too bad if so.
I’ll be there in 20 minutes.
Great store. I was in Vancouver on a 12 hour stopover a few years back and went on a record store tour. All these stores and I too saw Nardwuar but didn't bother him. "Vancouver, just like I pictured it." 👏👏
During my only visit there, I got robbed. 🥵

Congratulations on meeting Nuardwar before he becomes our next prime minister, you can now officially retire from the VC, Mazzy

Only You and The Great Pretender?
Looks like Fremer’s basement. 🥴
I have never seen a video with Nardwuar without wanting to punch something.
I would have liked to have met you in Vancouver too, Mazzy. But you wouldn't answer my email.
Doot-do-do-doot-doot...
