Love your room!! My collection has gotten out of hand within the past year and I'm in the process of making new shelves, with the help of a friend. I recently moved my stereo into my living room so I could concentrate on creating a better space for my records and keep them in a more organized fashion.
Always wanted to work in a record store. Really enjoyed the tour. I have a smaller Coway in my casita/music room. Works great on 60s vinyl and pot smoke…
I look at my collection in my music room and think wow this is getting out of hand , but then i see yours and think mmmm not so bad really. Luv the show.
My secret to finding more room is stashing seasonal records or perhaps certain records I don't play often. Yes, definitely some floor storage too. This year at WFMU I'll put the other Glenn Branca in your hands.
Cool big Shift Mazzy i definitely need a Humidifier pronto for my 10 by 10 room it will have me breathing clean air. I dig those bins you have for the Tone poets and Verve .
Mas... Here I am going off topic once again... How do you feel about Gary Wright...? I was a fan in the 70's... I recently got his 1st 4 albums on 2 remastered CD's and imported from England.....AAD
Pedant's Corner contacted me by telex to say, "Please tell Mr. Maslov, a.k.a. Mazzy, that reggae does *not come from England* ; it comes from Jamaica. Stop." Sad news about Rune Grammofon was/still am a *big* Deathprod aka Helge Sten fan; who is also a very, very fine mastering engineer. I worked in >> eventually managed, independent label record stores w/ large used vinyl, etc. sections (*all* formats bought/sold/traded, even VHS - drew the line at Betamax tho' ; - ), for over 10 years. Absolutely loved it.. & also, in my position as the main buyer, I was extremely fortunate to make some very good friends from umpteen independent distributors/labels dotted all over the Western world, (& one special guy from Jamaica who supplied one of the stores I managed w/ amazing Jamaican dub-plate 7"s & albums, too)... And best of all, lots of great customers who really loved all genress of music became friends outside of the opening hours. Very happy times, indeed.
Mazzy some of those sections look tightly packed so what do you do when you purchase another album which needs to go in there without having to budge all the following sections up? Any advice would be appreciated.
Mazzy :-) through the ether and the illusion we unthinkingly call ‘life’ from the fens if East Anglia to the city you call home….. You are right; there is always room…..all my records are now stored in a 17th Century oak panelled chest…so I can’t compete with you on that; but I read books, proper books mind you, and I have thousands. Living in a house older than the chest I mentioned, my books are everywhere…my children moan at me saying stuff like ‘Dad, what on earth are we going to do with this stuff when you’re gone?’ I just smile and keep on buying, reading and stacking them up…..so there you have it: 1. This world is only an illusion anyway, and 2. Where we go to will be so much more fun, the music will be even more amazing, and 3. What the s**t will we care anyway :-)
My guess is that the Sonics records were missing. I was talking to a record fair vendor recently about the Battle of the Bands! record. Funny we were talking about the same record. Mine's got 2 serious scratches. Damn vinyl! :) You might make sure you don't need a dehumidifier. Lots of water in the air.

Jealous...now you're retired and you get to spend your mornings and afternoons guesting on every Livestream on the VC and spending the nights organizing the 'ol wax collection...hope to get there one day 🙏🙏
Having been in the music industry, I'm surprised you don't simply alphabetize by artist name for every artist. If Cat Power is under 'C' then Bob Dylan should be under 'B'. I was also, briefly, in music publishing and this was the standard. Elvis Costello was under 'E'. David Bowie under 'D'. And Bruce Springsteen under 'B'. I know, not how most people do it, but it makes it so much easier to decide where 'Dr. John' goes! LOL Also, have to agree with you on the Coway air-purifier. They're amazing!
Cat Power is the persona brand name. Not the artist’s true name. . Her real name is Chan Marshall. Yes Bob Dylan changes his name from Zimmerman but changed legally. But whatever works for anyone is valid
@@mazzysmusic True. All I'm saying is that, in music industry standards, artist name and legal name are not the same thing... even if they are the same.
