I had a 12 pro max. Never put a case on it. Dropped it several times and on different surfaces with little to minor damage. Apple for sure made the rear glass weaker on purpose. No doubt.
Nope. Ppl wanted easily repairable so they made the back glass its own separate piece therefore it lost a lot of its strength and integrity behind the glad due to there now being not as much support
The truth is that the older phone were made with stainless steel. Steel, while being strong, has more give in impacts compared to titanium and acts as a cushion for the glass by absorbing the shock. Titanium retains it's shape rather than give in comparison to steel and when you drop glass with a titanium shield around it, you'll just have all that impact be absorbed by the glass since the titanium too strong and is suffering from success
I still have the iphone 12 pro max after 4 years and I'm still considering if I should buy the 16 since the back glass of the 15 breaks so easily and they are made of the same materials just the titanium is a bit stronger. For the breaking glass I heard no change. I have no intention of going every three or so times looking for a replacement shop. I'll wait another year in case this problem doesn't change this year either until Apple comes to its senses or else I'll go to find some other smartphone, android perhaps.

Check out the durability tests this guy did with the 11Pro-Pro Max, the results are incredible, and the edges of the phones' screens are especially round... they seem indestructible😎 I think the 15 pro model failed this year...🙄
The iPhone 14 PM is more durable it manages to be in excellent refurbished condition, meaning minor scuffs in stainless steel with no front and back glass shatter 100% free of scratches or cracks under concrete at 15ft drop test the iPhone 15 PM more fragile because the tiaitinium spreads the damage everywhere while stainless steel absorbs all the damage
Filip fitting like a glove back with a video, as if he didnt leave us at all. Still loving the work, and rocking the rebel case on my 13 pro for 2 years now. zero complaints!! amazing protection. must have dropped it numerous times, but its looking like new.
I think I'll wait for the next iteration because there seems to be too many problems with the 15 Pro Max: titanium coating gets scratches very easily, glass on the back of the phone breaks more easily, the phone overheats, etc.

Rarely that I comment on UA-cam videos, but Rebel Gen 5 cases are the best case that I have used! Definitely worth the price tag! You can put on the biggest screen protector that you have and it won’t cause bubbles to show on the edges due to fitting issues. Buttons are tactile and the charging port cut-out can fit my larger type C charging cable head. Perfect!

Talking about phones, cases, drop test etc - came out with his own brand and haven’t seen or heard shit. On the store I can’t even find a iPhone 15 case. Really hope this dude is ok. Back glass is incredibly fragile. Apparently you can break it by just trying to bend the Pro Max with your bare hands. Pretty sure they could have made it more durable but where's profit in that... 🫠 That being said, still gotta give it to Apple: the most important and hard to replace part - the screen, seems to be very durable.

I don’t believe apple made any claims about the back glass only spoke about the screen. (Which implies front glass only) it’s very clear the front held up much better.
@@treymiller5736 yeah, I don’t think they mentioned anything about it except now it is easier to replace. This could mean that they’re using the same quality glass from last year’s models but they put it in the phone differently. What I’m trying to say with my first comment is that the back glass retains its quality but since it is used differently the chances of it breaking with less force is higher. My statement was also very clear
Yeah that was my first thought too. In previous models where the back glass was adhered to the metal back frame it probably distributed the energy of the impact better but now all that energy is going onto the glass with no support behind it. Its the same problem the iPhone 4 had which was easy to break the back glass but very easy and cheap to repair yourself as well. Thankfully the back glass repair is significantly cheaper now, only $169 or $29 if you have apple care+.
@@Ryu.86yes this is 100% because it is now installed with adhesive around the perimeter of the glass like Samsung devices do. Previous iPhone pro models have the back glass heavily glued to the mid frame. But people complain about the high repair cost because Apple replaces the entire housing for that fix.
The front screens on the recent iPhones have been pretty wild, my 13 pro max, flew off my car going 25-30mph and only the back glass got destroyed, the phone was perfect besides the back glass, the front glass and the cameras is all that matters to me tbh. Good job Apple

I’ve had my 12 Pro Max since release day, never used a case & never cracked. I do use an $8 screen protector which I replace when I crack it. I’ve dropped it on rough pavement multiple times. Since watching your drop test videos the 12 seems to be overall most durable compared to the 13,14,15. I doubt the 12 screen is as durable as the 15 but I use a screen protector. The back glass breaks quite easily on the 15 it seems. I’ve gone case-less & don’t want to go back.
@@IIXxSLAYERxXII I suspect it is because iPhones get heavier every year except this year for the 15. Still heavier than a 12 or 11. Also the larger camera bump probably doesn’t help with back glass durability.
@@Paul-tw4un maybe. Dude, this ridiculous enormous camera is also one reason why I still use the 11 Pro Max. I really want the faster CPU, GPU, RAM, 120hz...but the camera is just too big, i don't need it much either. I wish the difference between pro and standard models are just the camera.

Couldn’t apple just make the top part slightly thicker so it’s uniform & flat camera? I went from the 11 pro max to the 12 & I honestly didn’t like the sharp corners but liked the big screen & better battery. Plus my phone feels slower, maybe I should factory reset or apple just slows older phones with updates secretly, I wouldn’t be surprised.

switched from mous after my back glass broke on my old phone in their case. used rebel on my 11 pro. absolutely satisfied by the product. very good protection (dropped my phone a number of times with zero issues) while keeping the case minimal and still showing the beauty of the iphone. just got the 15 pro max (I feel very lucky it came in already when I was told it’d take a month to arrive), but now I have to baby it until you guys release the new cases. keep up the good work!
which mous case did you use, clear or limitless? i was using limitless on my iphone xs for 3 years with no problems at all. now i have bought iphone 15 pro max and considering which case to go for! also, which rebel case do you recommend? appreciate your reply!

I used mous years ago with my iphone 7 and had zero problems. then I used it with my iphone xr and my back glass shattered. that was the only time i’ve broken a screen or back glass on any device. I don’t recall any major accident so I partially blame mous. although i’ve talked to others who previously had iphone xr’s and they also said their back glass broke, so maybe those phones just had weak glass. either way, I switched to the rebel flex with my iphone 11 pro; I absolutely loved that case. very minimal and very protective. the mous cases cover the beautiful design that is the iphone, rebel protects while still showing off the apple design. I dropped that phone numerous times without any worry. cannot possibly recommend rebel more based on my experience so far. anxiously waiting for the 15 pro drop. as far as mous goes, I haven’t been a customer of theirs in a minute, so I’m not trying to discourage anyone from purchasing from mous. I’m sure mous is still better than most case companies. but in my experience, i’ve had absolutely zero complaints about my rebel case. I’m probably going to get the regular rebel gen 5 for a little extra protection (I hear the titanium sides can get scratched easily) but if the flex releases first, i’ll have to get that.
It’s more “repair friendly” so now they make it more breakable so you can repair it more easily more often which is spending more money so it equals to the not repair friendly.

Your drop tests are the gold standard. None of them are scientific, as you yourself said, but they're the only ones on youtube that actually manage to be thorough and extreme enough to be worth talking about. So glad you're back, and hope you're doing well. PS If you're taking suggestions and doing a big test this year, I'd love to see you give the Otterbox Commuter for the Pros another drop. I loved the one I had on my 13 which protected it through quite a bit, but this year the rubber is so much thinner and I can't help but feel it'll fare worse in drops.
Great break down. It really is luck of the draw. I’ve dropped iPhones from 3 story heights zero damage even to the glass back. Basic silicone cover. I’ve dropped from tabletop height and it cracked screen and back glass. Depends on the angle, what it hits, if it’s flat or bumpy surface etc. have seen other reviews saying it’s terrible that when you take a scalpel to the paint on the new pro the paint will scrape off… ffs… what you expect would happen? 🤦♂️ Slap on a cover and a screen protector and be carful with your phone. Let’s all start giving out when your laptop smashes when you’ve no cover on it and drop it down the stairs… why oh why don’t they make them throwable 😂

@@9horizon40 Hello. If those are the two options you are choosing between, then I would still go with the 15 Pro to be honest. Unless you can get a nice deal on one of the remaining 14 Pros that are left. My recommendation, if it's worth considering, would be a iPhone 15 Plus because you are getting some of the great features from the 14 Pro (A16 Bionic SIP, Dynamic Island, and the 48 megapixel main camera) while getting absolutely insane battery life. It would be a huge upgrade from iPhone 12 or 12 Pro while sticking with the tried and true aluminum frame and matte finished back glass. With the 15 Pro's new titanium frame, I would let that stuff go through a couple iterations before jumping into it just because it's all new and will (has) have some issues. I hope this helps!

Welcome back. So nice to see you and your videos again. Tbh, I am disappointed from the durability tests I have seen. Apple 15 pro series has taken a step or two backwards in durability. I've seen many tests, and the 15 always lost badly with the 14. I do not know if it is because of recycling, back being able to be dismantled separately or whatever, but it is very underwhelming to me. It looks cheap tbh. Makes me think that Apple lost its quality big time with this series. Thanks for video and keep it coming 😊😊
I think its probably in their attempt to make them more repairable or something i dont know. Also is it just on the Pro series. Because i was planning on upgrading from my XR now that the normal 15 series also has dynamic island and is a good upgrade according to various people. If its on the normal 15 series as well i might need to rethink my decision.

@@kartikeyanshankar3123 I watched a bunch of videos and this year it seems to me that other than performance (speed and graphics) and camera wise, base 15s are superior to the pros especially in the endurance and battery life department for example in a test ran by a yter iphone 15 pro had 9 hrs of life while iphone 15 plus had 13. Just go for the base 15s bro pros are dissapointing.

Filip fitting like a glove back with a video, as if he didnt leave us at all. Still loving the work, and rocking the rebel case on my 13 pro for 2 years now. zero complaints!! amazing protection. must have dropped it numerous times, but its looking like new.
I think I'll wait for the next iteration because there seems to be too many problems with the 15 Pro Max: titanium coating gets scratches very easily, glass on the back of the phone breaks more easily, the phone overheats, etc.

Rarely that I comment on UA-cam videos, but Rebel Gen 5 cases are the best case that I have used! Definitely worth the price tag! You can put on the biggest screen protector that you have and it won’t cause bubbles to show on the edges due to fitting issues. Buttons are tactile and the charging port cut-out can fit my larger type C charging cable head. Perfect!

Talking about phones, cases, drop test etc - came out with his own brand and haven’t seen or heard shit. On the store I can’t even find a iPhone 15 case. Really hope this dude is ok. Back glass is incredibly fragile. Apparently you can break it by just trying to bend the Pro Max with your bare hands. Pretty sure they could have made it more durable but where's profit in that... 🫠
That being said, still gotta give it to Apple: the most important and hard to replace part - the screen, seems to be very durable.

I don’t believe apple made any claims about the back glass only spoke about the screen. (Which implies front glass only) it’s very clear the front held up much better.
@@treymiller5736 yeah, I don’t think they mentioned anything about it except now it is easier to replace. This could mean that they’re using the same quality glass from last year’s models but they put it in the phone differently. What I’m trying to say with my first comment is that the back glass retains its quality but since it is used differently the chances of it breaking with less force is higher. My statement was also very clear

Yeah that was my first thought too. In previous models where the back glass was adhered to the metal back frame it probably distributed the energy of the impact better but now all that energy is going onto the glass with no support behind it. Its the same problem the iPhone 4 had which was easy to break the back glass but very easy and cheap to repair yourself as well. Thankfully the back glass repair is significantly cheaper now, only $169 or $29 if you have apple care+.
@@Ryu.86yes this is 100% because it is now installed with adhesive around the perimeter of the glass like Samsung devices do. Previous iPhone pro models have the back glass heavily glued to the mid frame. But people complain about the high repair cost because Apple replaces the entire housing for that fix.
The front screens on the recent iPhones have been pretty wild, my 13 pro max, flew off my car going 25-30mph and only the back glass got destroyed, the phone was perfect besides the back glass, the front glass and the cameras is all that matters to me tbh. Good job Apple

I’ve had my 12 Pro Max since release day, never used a case & never cracked. I do use an $8 screen protector which I replace when I crack it. I’ve dropped it on rough pavement multiple times. Since watching your drop test videos the 12 seems to be overall most durable compared to the 13,14,15. I doubt the 12 screen is as durable as the 15 but I use a screen protector. The back glass breaks quite easily on the 15 it seems. I’ve gone case-less & don’t want to go back.

And I don't even use a screen protector
@@IIXxSLAYERxXII I suspect it is because iPhones get heavier every year except this year for the 15. Still heavier than a 12 or 11. Also the larger camera bump probably doesn’t help with back glass durability.
@@Paul-tw4un maybe. Dude, this ridiculous enormous camera is also one reason why I still use the 11 Pro Max. I really want the faster CPU, GPU, RAM, 120hz...but the camera is just too big, i don't need it much either. I wish the difference between pro and standard models are just the camera.

Couldn’t apple just make the top part slightly thicker so it’s uniform & flat camera? I went from the 11 pro max to the 12 & I honestly didn’t like the sharp corners but liked the big screen & better battery. Plus my phone feels slower, maybe I should factory reset or apple just slows older phones with updates secretly, I wouldn’t be surprised.

switched from mous after my back glass broke on my old phone in their case. used rebel on my 11 pro. absolutely satisfied by the product. very good protection (dropped my phone a number of times with zero issues) while keeping the case minimal and still showing the beauty of the iphone.
just got the 15 pro max (I feel very lucky it came in already when I was told it’d take a month to arrive), but now I have to baby it until you guys release the new cases. keep up the good work!
which mous case did you use, clear or limitless? i was using limitless on my iphone xs for 3 years with no problems at all. now i have bought iphone 15 pro max and considering which case to go for!

I used mous years ago with my iphone 7 and had zero problems. then I used it with my iphone xr and my back glass shattered. that was the only time i’ve broken a screen or back glass on any device. I don’t recall any major accident so I partially blame mous. although i’ve talked to others who previously had iphone xr’s and they also said their back glass broke, so maybe those phones just had weak glass. either way, I switched to the rebel flex with my iphone 11 pro; I absolutely loved that case. very minimal and very protective. the mous cases cover the beautiful design that is the iphone, rebel protects while still showing off the apple design. I dropped that phone numerous times without any worry. cannot possibly recommend rebel more based on my experience so far. anxiously waiting for the 15 pro drop.
as far as mous goes, I haven’t been a customer of theirs in a minute, so I’m not trying to discourage anyone from purchasing from mous. I’m sure mous is still better than most case companies. but in my experience, i’ve had absolutely zero complaints about my rebel case. I’m probably going to get the regular rebel gen 5 for a little extra protection (I hear the titanium sides can get scratched easily) but if the flex releases first, i’ll have to get that.

It’s more “repair friendly” so now they make it more breakable so you can repair it more easily more often which is spending more money so it equals to the not repair friendly.

Your drop tests are the gold standard. None of them are scientific, as you yourself said, but they're the only ones on youtube that actually manage to be thorough and extreme enough to be worth talking about. So glad you're back, and hope you're doing well. PS If you're taking suggestions and doing a big test this year, I'd love to see you give the Otterbox Commuter for the Pros another drop. I loved the one I had on my 13 which protected it through quite a bit, but this year the rubber is so much thinner and I can't help but feel it'll fare worse in drops.

I’ve dropped from tabletop height and it cracked screen and back glass. Depends on the angle, what it hits, if it’s flat or bumpy surface etc.

@@9horizon40 Hello. If those are the two options you are choosing between, then I would still go with the 15 Pro to be honest. Unless you can get a nice deal on one of the remaining 14 Pros that are left. My recommendation, if it's worth considering, would be a iPhone 15 Plus because you are getting some of the great features from the 14 Pro (A16 Bionic SIP, Dynamic Island, and the 48 megapixel main camera) while getting absolutely insane battery life. It would be a huge upgrade from iPhone 12 or 12 Pro while sticking with the tried and true aluminum frame and matte finished back glass. With the 15 Pro's new titanium frame, I would let that stuff go through a couple iterations before jumping into it just because it's all new and will (has) have some issues. I hope this helps!

Tbh, I am disappointed from the durability tests I have seen. Apple 15 pro series has taken a step or two backwards in durability. I've seen many tests, and the 15 always lost badly with the 14. I do not know if it is because of recycling, back being able to be dismantled separately or whatever, but it is very underwhelming to me. It looks cheap tbh. Makes me think that Apple lost its quality big time with this series. Thanks for video and keep it coming 😊😊
I think its probably in their attempt to make them more repairable or something i dont know. Also is it just on the Pro series. Because i was planning on upgrading from my XR now that the normal 15 series also has dynamic island and is a good upgrade according to various people. If its on the normal 15 series as well i might need to rethink my decision.

@@kartikeyanshankar3123 I watched a bunch of videos and this year it seems to me that other than performance (speed and graphics) and camera wise, base 15s are superior to the pros especially in the endurance and battery life department for example in a test ran by a yter iphone 15 pro had 9 hrs of life while iphone 15 plus had 13. Just go for the base 15s bro pros are dissapointing.
