I am a long retired high school football official. In my day and location parents were not abusive or the problem. Sometimes coaches would get angry at bad calls, and yes, I made mistakes, however I was never touched or threatened. I recommend at the start of a game, the crew chief of the officials should address the participants and fans and tell them: 1. Parental and coach behavior can result in a penalty against their team up to and including a forfeit. 2. How to become an official in the sport including contact details for the officials association office. 3. What they are being paid for the game (people may not know that per game fees are $30 for youth sports to perhaps $150 for varsity high school football). I would offer coaches the ability to dismiss an official by mutual agreement. If both opposing coaches agree, they should have the option to dismiss an official if they feel he/she is incompetent or simply having a bad game. That said, they do not get a replacement and the game continues with the remaining officials. Officials should have option to call a game and walk off if they feel threatened by conduct of fans and or participants.
Unfortunately, there are a myriad of reasons why this behavior occurs. It's a sociological issues impacted by several factors. Speaking strictly of the actual solution (not a band-aid) "fixing" these parental issues would require much more than rules and regulations. That being said, something you mentioned "I recommend at the start of the game, the crew chief should address...." is ABSOLUTELY 100% spot on correct. Moreover, #1 needs to be stressed because there needs to be accountability that affects their child so they can feel the impact. I agree with several of your points, unfortunately due to societal issues on a structural level, this behavior is almost incentivized nowadays. Even though these problems are becoming more frequent and worse, the positive impact of activities like these on youth is still and will always be worth it.
The only one I kind of feel is the wrestler dad tackling the guy. A move like that can paralyze by breaking the neck. I was in wrestling four years and it's one of those things that once a wrestler lifts another, we'd hear the whistle and have to stop and reset. Very rarely do "body slams" happen, even rarer is a back kind of "head slam" like the one shown.

Problem with many of these people is that some are likely Republicans that value law and order, except when it comes to consequences for their bad behavior.
They'd call the harsher punishments "fascism" while not realizing they basically advocate for it in their party platform, but anything to avoid real accountability, humility or structural changes, because those are threats to the status quo, the GOP's bread and butter
Stop bringing your ridiculous politics into everything. BTW ... before you call me some sort of republican, I will say both republicans and democrats are equal idiots. Thanks.
@Django Some are likely Republican, or even just about "law and order". Hypocrisy is not exclusive to Republicans, I'll fully admit that, even though I'm not registered with any party
Your embarrassing
My dad referees high school soccer. At least used to
My uncle used to as well and he eventually quit because of the god awful people.
This guy clearly doesn’t know much you can see that he’s in over his head with the little things he says
NBA scouts are watching sir. You just ruined your kids chance of $600 million contract
I love how the first guy body shoves the ref while his back is turned then immediately runs off. I would have gone to prison to defend that
The kid was out of order but there was some body bumping. I don't like it. But I can see the genesis. The parent should be charged for assault.
That said, I'll come ref if it's>$50/game.
I started reading the Bible about over a month ago and in the Bible people back then were doing things that make no sense and to this day we as people are still doing things that make no sense it's in our nature I'm sorry but it is
leave it to the young turks to totally miss the source of the problem and project it on the other side...
This has nothing to do with those groups or republicans. Why to hide a narrative In her.
I am a long retired high school football official. In my day and location parents were not abusive or the problem. Sometimes coaches would get angry at bad calls, and yes, I made mistakes, however I was never touched or threatened.
I recommend at the start of a game, the crew chief of the officials should address the participants and fans and tell them:
1). Immediate forfeiture of the game for the attacker’s team.
2). Jail time for the attacker(s).
3). Attacker(s) and family banned from all after school activities.
It’s time to stand up to the bully mentality. If you stand up to them, a majority of the time, the bully will back down. Especially if there are more people on the bullied one’s side.
Play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.
"Crazy" is not the correct modifier. We are dealing with mental illness. Anybody who does this crap is abusive elsewhere. Abusive. Bully. Mean. Aggressive. Poor kids.
This is a behavior issue, not political. Bad behavior should be addressed with consequences. Enough with the woke psychobabble nonsense.
PARANCE ARE TRYING TO LIVE THEIR LIVES THROUGH THEIR KIDS. IT'S NOT A GAME ANYMORE. Anyone who Abused a Refferie Should be Charge and Put in Jail. PERIOD 💯 👊🏻
This is the exact reason I will not officiate youth sports anymore
This is what happens when adults have the self regulation of a 12 year old.
These parents have forgotten Rule #1 of being a youth sports parent. "99.999 out of 100, Bill Self, Hubert Davis, Juwan Howard or JIm Boeheim are NOT scouting your kid. And no, your kid is NOT the next Luka Doncic."
I'm not a parent of a kid but you don't know that. Ya these parents are acting crazy. But to make this about what the skill level is of the kid is kind of silly.
@@Lakers_since_1990 Yeah but let's keep it real, statistically, most kids aren't going pro.
Parents of today have a very crappy job, married life or just plain wake up being emotional. They feel better about themselves when they find what they consider "lower life forms" just to feel better about themselves. Each one that acts this way grew up winning participation trophies.
Our society has not the maturity to handle competitive sports
What I did as an umpire was if a guy was getting too loud and disruptive the game I would stop the go over to him I asked him to stop. If he doesn’t I give him a choice. Either stop or leave. If he stops I continue with the game …. If he doesn’t I go to the mound tell the kids to get off the field until he leaves now 99% of the time he will leave his own friends will make him leave then I start the game again simple I’m not going to forfeit the the cause of a idiot person wasn’t the player’s fault I’m there 2 hours nobody else is root for ur team or ur kid not all calls are going to go ur way and remember everybody has a different view of that call have a nice day
This is why I don't ref or coach anymore, it's not worth it
Parents our out of control at games. They encourage kids playing dirty and no sportsmanship. It’s very rare to see a normal game or be at one. Not only that,, they start talking about or attacking your kid and it’s like are these people for real!?!? I don’t go after there kids… If,,, they lose they starting yelling at the refs or players or other parents and even coaches… If,,, they win they celebrate 🎉 and rub it in your face… No good game or will get them next time or that was a fun game the kids played hard… I don’t think you should award 🥇 losing but you shouldn’t be ashamed of it… A lot of learning and growing comes from losing… It used to teach oneself too work harder. So, I don’t lose again or how one could play or do things better in the next game….
Everybody acts like Bat 🦇 Dad out there from South Park. Looking for a fight because they didn’t win and if they don’t win nobody does….
As a basketball referee the parents are usually the worst matter what teams and officiating is a lot harder than it looks like if people think they can do better than they should sign up instead of constantly talking smack like put your whistle where your mouth is and see how easy it is
So why did you bring in politics?
Let's see... We live in a political climate where young children, along with their parents... Are being taught by the media (Mainstream and social) that they shouldn't respect authority...
And you're surprised referees are getting attacked and/or quitting?
*Facepalms* Do I have to spell this out for you all?
Well said at the end Rick! 👏
Ohhh, it's the Republicans fault. I see now....
And with that stupid comment, I have unfollowed and will not watch anymore if your videos. This issue is not political at all yet "because you're TYT" you gotta make it the big bad Republicans fault. Even had to have one of the videos a "republican doing xyz." Anyway, as one person said,"do better."
Only punishment suitable for the crime is state wide band For any student or student related to parent who commits this crime from being allowed to go to public school.
Force them to privatize spend more money or force them to leave the state like a home with bum.
The true perception placed upon homeless people truly belongs to the vile creatures who think that Brute parasitic mentality belongs in the human species.
I am coaching 14u boys bball twin cities MN. I am also Volunteering! Over this past weekend one of my players and a player from the opposing team got into each others faces! The kid from the other team was confrontational and told everyone of my players he was going to beat their a** and flexed on a couple players! This started 2 min into the game! After 3 of my players told me I went to the ref. After more than half my players approached me I went to their coach! Nothing was done and the kid continued to play and be confrontational. So when my player had enough he said something back and altercation started! The kids father ran onto the court and tried to fight my player. He may have even made contact! I was terrified because there was no security or police! And this grown man had lost his mind! I was seriously afraid for my team my staff and the parents to leave the facility. Especially considering what had just recently happened at jimmy lee recreation center (bang bang) in St. Paul
That kid getting slammed at 1:53 was downright dangerous. Ican understand dad losing it.
Wrong his son was not injured nor does it justify his assault of a child. Under your premise the kid who was assaulted his Dad is now free to go kick the first dads teeth out of his head
Nah the dad was a pathetic loser..
Time to start playing your games behind closed doors.
And people have the nerve to judge the younger generation.
I wonder where they learned it….🤔
WE MUST CRACKDOWN ON ALL BAD BEHAVIOR AND CITIZENS. Or else.
2/3'rds of America would be under indictment if that were the case. The line has already been crossed and unfortunately there is no going back. For too long people have left it up to religion to govern their behavior. But when they realized there were actually no consequences they realized there are no angels and no demons to punish them.
@@OH_MY_DOGGGinto the 20TH CENTURY twas not abnormal for us to establish civil codes. WHY? Because mf'ers were gross and ruggedly disgusting. They'd spit and cuss, fart and shit, act stupid like old west animals did. WE GOT THEM UNDER CONTROL BY BEING MEAN AS SHIT in defense of peace and civility.
@@vedder10 so now we make consequences. LOCAL LAWS will do the trick.
Everything was fine until you made it political. Ya blew it
yeah
Charge parents….or who ever the a aggressor.
Kid and father should never be aloud to play again
of course this people are angry all the times thanks for all the GOP politician and media rage about everything so these parents too !!!
Again Parents calm down
Take a look in the mirror people. And start giving stiff penalties to parents like a year in jail let’s call it a time out box.
It's all about a championship
He knocked down the wrong ref 🤦🏿♂️
hits then runs like a coward
my kid just started playing sports. 3rd grade soccer. 2 games in and i see these parents take these games to seriously. Im already thinking ok how to get a chess league or something going at his school cuz im not spending my parenting days with high blood pressure cuz American jr sports culture. It sucks the joy of watching ur kid just have fun
