Thank you for sharing this. I'm 5 weeks out from emergency open heart surgery to repair my ascending aorta and replace my aortic valve, and still struggling through it. I couldn't agree more about hospital beds, but it sounds like your hospital food was way better. I was also rehospitalized for a while about a week after I got home the first time to have a ton of fluid drained from my pericardium. I have also been having trouble sleeping, often just afraid to sleep; it was especially bad during that first week at home before they drained the fluid. It's reassuring to see that these things will improve and that you're doing much better now.
Thanks for sharing your story. I had mine in Dec 2021. They labeled me as violent too when I was awoken and tried to take my breathing tube out. I have since learned that this is a totally natural reaction and they should have tethered my arms before awaking me. Because of this I got nodules on vocal cords but they have healed after many months (thanks to God). I too remember my nightmares to this day and the terrible bed with the hissing and breathing it did. Hang in there champ, make sure you are living your life like you want to. This was a warning to us that we should not take things for granted. Be well!
Thank you for sharing your story. It's strange, but I could not deal with TV either. It gave me the creeps and was annoying. And you are right. Hospital beds are horrendous. I spent 45 days in them. One had some kind of "bar" under it that felt like it was digging into my back. Wishing you all the best. Mine was 7 months ago and I am back teaching. Rough road, but it's what we have to live with. LIVING with something is a pretty good alternative. And yep "THE FEELS" are all over the place.
thank you Bruce for sharing your story...I loved it all and you described everything so well... telling our story is vital to our healing and I have sent my survivor story to so many people who had no idea what I have gone through. It also spreads awareness. I dissected in February 2020 and was so unaware of what was happening, thinking I'd go home and recover. I didn't realize that my body and mind were traumatized and my whole life had changed. I could go on and on but you know what I'm going to say before I say it... my name is Velda MacKenzie....I might see you at a support meeting🫀
