My father, shortly before he died, was found to have a large infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm, which they showed me an image of. They said he probably had it for decades. Big sucker, but it never burst.

Thanks Gregg. One of my blood pressure meds caused the nightmares. The doctor changed that one to one in the same group and nightmares stopped. By the way nightmares make your blood pressure go up!!

There are many parallels with my own story to Greg's. I am almost one year post-surgery.

My wife has Giant Cell Aortits a type of vasculitis that attacks medium to large vessels. She has had a complete arch replacement with the FET open repair followed by a 17" stent placed in the descending aorta. She had isolated hypertension episodes since July following Actemra infusions to control inflammation. She was hospitalized August 25th for 9 days trying to get it under control. A CT scan revealed a type 2 endoleak in the stent graft. We travel to Cleveland Clinic tomorrow for her team there to assess her current situation. Listening to your description of your own experience with hypertensive crisis helped me understand that there may be other contributing factors for the isolated systolic hypertension she is experiencing.

Unbelievable story of determination and persistence. Great story, Kevin. Thank you for sharing. You are an inspiration.

Wow. If it wasn't for his knowledge and determination he would have been dead. Congrats on all the accomplishments and thriving.

Hope you are well...your story was well-told and captivating ... You look great considering this nightmare.!!!.I am 66 with an aneurysm trying to avoid surgery if possible. I will never feel sorry for myself having heard what you gutted your way through ...you are a lucky man!

At 41:34, I should have noted that the John Ritter Foundation also wanted to see a recent heart scan before giving me the green light to participate in Team Ritter for the NYC Marathon. That was an understandable request and probably one of the important aspects of the "gauntlet" I forgot to mention.
