Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

Thank you buddy! Really appreciate this video. Shop wanted to charge me $156 to do this.
This guy is the best resource for snowblower maintenance!
First time I've looked at one of your videos. Besides being extremely helpful, your commentary was perfect without being excessive. Bravo! Thank you so much!
Very helpful. Clear, direct, concise, simple. Thanks very much!
Another one of your great videos. Murray 2007 10/30. Two bolts at top only. Bottom hooks onto bracket. Changed auger belt as per your clear instructions. Hopefully snow blower will throw snow more than 5 feet now. Thanks from Canada.
Super easy to follow. I have repaired my snowblower 3 times by following your videos. Thanks. I feel like a mechanic lol
Eve
Stupid easy fix when you have a good tutorial. Thanks!
Thanks so much. I installed it this evening and my Murray snowblower worked great. Awesome video, I appreciate the clear, step by step instructions.
Great to hear!
I've been replacing this belt for about 7 years without separating the front, what a fricking pain in the ass!, Now I know the trick! - Thanks so much! - Wonderful tutorial!
An excellent demonstration video. Many people have already commented on the great job you did. I watched your video and then went outside and replaced the auger belt on my Murray snowblower and everything went according to plan, thanks to you. The one tip I would add relates to older, rusty pullies. My machine is about 25 years old, so there is a lot of rust on the pullies. While I had that space opened up, I used a wire wheel brush attached to a drill and cleaned up the inside of the large auger pully and some of the smaller pullies. I think that will help reduce some of the wear and tear on the belt. Just a thought. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much!! I appreciate your video! It helped me change the auger belt on my snowblower after it stretched and we just got a foot of snow!
Hi Donny, Although your video came out in 2014, you nailed it for me. Found your MTD auger replacement video for the MTD was the same as my Craftsman machine. Saved me a lot of time and heartache. Thank you so much. Much appreciated.
Thanks a lot for this video, snow was getting clogged or only throwing short distance, 5 minute adjustment to tighten belt, works like a charm, your the man, you saved my back with next storm.
YOU'RE WELCOME, MAKE SURE YOU ARE SUBSCRIBED
I am so Happy that I found your video. Everything including the videography was spot on. I will remember to uncover the belt cover in fall to check and make sure there isn't a huge "mouse nest" in there again. So good to know that I didn't have to take the whole Auger assembly off to replace the belt as I had to do this by myself. Thanks so much!!!!
Excellent instructions and very easy to follow. After watching the video, I decided to change my own auger belt. 1 hour later, tools put away, new belt installed and successful test run. Thanks for posting
Extremely helpful and exactly what we needed to know. Thank you!
I've been rebuilding an old rusty 2-stage snowblower I got for free. I literally took it all apart as much as I could, scraped all the rust off, repainted it and have been putting it back together. Your channel has been great in the process! Thanks for posting!
You are a life saver! Had no idea how I was going to reinstall a belt on my 20 year old Murray! You made it happen! Cheers from ice-cold Chicago!
Don, I want to thank you for this video. I have a 1997 NOMA snowblower and your instructions were right on. Even the belt part number was right on. I appreciate the easy to follow instructions and your presentation. It was a piece of cake.
Cheers, and I look forward to more videos from you.
You rocked on this video, thank you for posting. I will look for more of your videos for future repairs
Thank you I spent 3 hours in freezing snow trying to figure out how to get the belt on until I found your video.
I'm glad I'm not alone.
Thank you! Very clear & easy to understand
Thank you very helpful I’ve used this video twice lol😂
Thanks Don I just fixed my auger belt for my snowblower for the first time very much appreciated it
This was a great tutorial. It worked perfect for me and know my blower is really throwing the 30 inches we got in the North East! Thanks.
It snowed. Got about 1/3 thru it. Blower died (with some grinding). It was working fine before without snow. hehehe Off to get a belt and hope that was the only issue. Thanks for a great video. Oh, I should have watched this a second time before I removed the belt. Would have saved a bit of time.
Piece - o - cake!
Great video!
Mine is smaller but I think the same process applies.
Thanks for posting!
I watch your video every time I receive one. As it happened I was working up a near identical machine for my son. There was another video online that showed it being done from the bottom. I trust you and used your method and it went quite smoothly. Also with your method the adjustable pulley is right there. My machine has a Craftsman label and had an additional mechanism that was broken . It was a braking mechanism that was designed to stop the auger as the tensioning pulley retracted. I just adjusted the pulley properly and it works fine.
THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK
Good instructional video I found on my Noma 5HP 24" snowblower the belt was a 1/2 x 37" Murray part #51304. This belt is used on a lot of different brands.
Excellent how to video !!! You saved me from having a heart attack from trying to struggle to get my snowblower in the back of my truck to take it to the repair shop. Well explained ...thanks Don.
+jason brodie you're welcome, make sure you are subscribed
Excellent illustration and explanation. I did it successfully. Thanks.
Thanks for this video. It helped me change the belt on my Stiga Snow Patrol snowblower and now it runs like a monster =) Really helpful clip. Thanks again!
This is one of the best DIY videos I’ve seen! Subscribed!
Thanks, Dony! Another great how-to video with some good advice as well.
You made it look so easy. Thanks.
Found your channel recently while browsing for info on the Tecumseh snowblower engine. I should have looked around UA-cam before I had my carb cleaned and paid a fortune. From now on, I will check your channel first for how to do stuff, since I don't have to left hands myself, just lack the tool and space at times. Anyhow, since I have a Murray snowblower like this, this was very helpful to know as well. Love the way you explain things. Keep it up.
+Christian Raith thanks
Thank you so much for your video ! I would of never attempted doing this but UA-cam videos are awesome at teaching people how to do things ! I froze my butt off, since I don't have a garage but I did it ! You explained it so well and it was easy to follow. Thanks again, I really appreciated it !
+Crissy Love nice to hear! take care
Thanks a lot for the AMAZING tutorial my friend. Great information! You helped make this job a snap and actually, kind of fun. I'm definitely subscribing to your page and, without a doubt, you'll be my first stop for small engine tutorials. 🤙
Very helpful. Can use this information on other belt drive equipment like tillers! Interesting wear pattern on the old belt.
Another great video Don! Thanks! Have a great weekend!
+Donyboy, thanks so much. My snowblower was having this issue and you got me fixed up within an hour! I have a Murray 24inch 12hp, but the process was identical. Used a metal folding chair instead of a step ladder to prop up the handle end.
Love your videos. Very helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for another great video Don.
Great vid - crystal clear. Thank you!
i wish more snowblowers were still this adjustable.
This helped me and my dad a lot, thanks!
the best in the bizness .....thanks Donyboy
Great video Don I have the exact machine. Exactlly the same. Very few of the 11 29's on UA-cam. I did this repair last winter made the mistake of removing the bottom bolts and added 30 min of aggravation! Thanks!
have a good weekend
Great video. I wish you were around the first time I had to do this myself!
Very well explained. Thanks so much !!
I must say that I wish I had a look at this video before I started replacing my auger belt. The snow blower that I have is a Stiga, and very similar to the one you replace the belt on. Fought a lot with the belt and the turn wheels, and when I got it all in place, it last only for a minute..... note to meself: watch this video again before starting :-)
Thanks for this video. I need to replace my auger belt after today and now l know how.
Thank you . Very well explained .
I replaced the belt according to your tutorial. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Another help video! thanks again!!
Excellent Video. Thanks 👍
Great job... super helpful!
Thanks DonyBoy you have a great channel. And we have a lot of wet snow here in Finland.
Murray 1450 sing a lot :)
all your vids are great !!!!!!! thanks D
Very good video and helpful. Thx.
This was an amazing help - thank you so much - do you have a video anywhere for the poulon riding lawnmower? We took it apart and now need to put it back together with a new cable - can't remember what it is called. Anyways - giant thanks on the snowblower helps.
Dang, wish I saw this video last week!!!
On the other hand, I did get the auger belt changed lol...
Merci mon ami Well done!!
Excellent thank you
VERY well demonstrated. Left nothing to chance.
Well done!
Great Video
Great video
you made this look so easy that I did it as the video was on, thanks for the help

Can you please explain how to adjust the idler pulley if you have a none adjustable pulley that doesn't slide up or down to release tension on the belt I have a blower that doesn't have an adjustable idler pully and my new belt is to tight now and it automatically engages the auger as soon as the snowblower is started without even holding down the auger engage handle and to be clear I I absolutely have the correct new belt on the snowblower I have the manual and ordered the belt that is listed on the manual.
Thank you very much and if you can please explain how to do this or make a short video or point me in the direction of a video that will show this as I have a snowblower that I can't use because the new belt is under to much tension to disengage when the handle is not held down so the auger is always going if I was to keep it on but I don't want to keep it like this as it's not ment to stay going 100% all the time.
Thank you very much. 🙂👍✌
@@RavenTheLabrador your cablemight be too tight, just fixed one the other day with that issue. also make sure you have correct belt
great video thanks
Great video I envy you so much having your own shop. I'm sure it's not easy to say the least but I'm a technician for a small engine shop as well and sometimes it sure would be nice to be on my own!! thanks for sharing !!!
Did you get your own shop yet?
Much appreciated.
Great video thank you. Is there a similar idler pulley adjustment for the traction drive portion. I have a neighbor that has a similar Toro blower that is troublesome when shifting into R---- the drive belt often slips off the machine. What do you think could be the problem? Belt stretched or too loose?
I am thinking about replacing the drive belt as well on my Craftsman / Murray snowblower. Have you done a tutorial on that? I was looking through your videos and didn't see one. Thanks again for the amazing content.
Found your video and the machine is the same as my old 8/27" yard king ... was wondering with this model if you have a video on changing the drive belt. I'm not sure if that is done with the machine half separated like here for the auger belt, or if the cover is pulled and it is done with the belly pan removed? Again, thanks for your videos. Going to replace belts before the snow flies this year in WI.
Great Vid thx
another great vid thanks Don.
thanks
Hi donyboy73,
I think your instructions for this job are exemplary!
thanks!
Nice job
My snowblower auger is the same and I was wondering how the driver belt is replaced? Do you have a video for that?
Thank you. very clear explanation A1 ✌️
Glad it was helpful!
At 10:30, when you were pulling the starter cord to verify the augur would not turn with the correct tension, I noticed that the pulley/shaft that is driving the belt had a certain amount of eccentricity as it rotated. Would this aspect be an issue in the units operation and longevity?
Good video
Knocked it out of the Park again Dony!............😎👍👏🍻🍁
lol, thanks
Excellent tutorial as allways :-))
Ive found elastic bunji cords with hooks are handy to keep belts taught or wire harnesses away from the point of work.
Velcro straps work good too!
Chris Hebert
Yes that sounds like a good choice as well :-))
Sometimes just a bit of string does the job, if its a "one off" :-))
Great vid as usual don, whats your opinion about these blowers? Good investment? Im looking at buying one
Where can I find the belt pulley adapter for the auger drives on a snowthrower I'd like to do a covertion to a different motor I've got a 2.7 techumsa I'd like to go bigger motor
Thank you, fantastic explanation and great practical tips. And safety reminders throughout (yes, make sure the stool is there at this point! Yes, make sure the plug is out at this point!) I am going to fully separate the front end of the blower in order to sand and paint it. Any gotchas I should know about?
Jonathan Haruni thanks,
Jonathan Haruni just be careful if there are any cables
Cool
Would the 2 sections of the blower have separated easier and farther if the chute positioning shaft was disconnected? Around the 2:20 point you can see a hair cotter pin on the u-joint making it easier to disconnect the shaft.
Do you have any idea how to find paint codes for Murray? I have model 1696061 and its black/gray and need some touchup.
thanks
I have a very similar snowblower. The chute turns on its own while throwing snow. How do I prevent that so I don’t have to keep taking my hand off the handle.
Thanks for the information. Perfect! By the way, is that a Bruce Pender "Lab" coat you're wearing? lol Keep the grease off the clothes for sure. Thanks for your time.
I have a murray brute dual action 10hp.. that turns the left wheel, but the right wont engage when i pull the lever... What could it be?
Can you please explain how to adjust the idler pulley if you have a none adjustable pulley that doesn't slide up or down to release tension on the belt I have a blower that doesn't have an adjustable idler pully and my new belt is to tight now and it automatically engages the auger as soon as the snowblower is started without even holding down the auger engage handle.
Thank you very much and if you can please explain how to do this or make a video or point me in the direction of a video that will show this as I I have a snowblower that I can't use because the new belt is under to much tension to disengage when the handle is not held down.
Thank you very much.
Need help bad dude. So I have a Noma 27’ path snowblower that runs the tecumseh 10 hp engine. I’m having a very difficult time tracking down an auger belt for it. The belt got eaten up in our last storm and it doesn’t have any markings on it to identify I close enough replacement.
What does separating the blower accomplish if the auger belt is removed from between the auger and drive pulley? Anyone? Thanks for a great video.
Never mind, I see now that separating the blower, takes the auger pulley with it, thus creating more space between the auger pulley andthe drive pulley so the auger belt can be removed easily. Great solution.
This looks almost identical to my Noma 8/24.
What is the part # for the Drive Belt for a Murray 8.00/24 Dual Stage Snowblower
