It's really cool that the pixel 9 fold pro keeps working if either or both batteries are connected... I cant think of a real life use case but it's a cool feature...
Linus Sebastian of LTT would have benefited from this because his z fold 3 did not support this feature and he dropped it in his pool and then didn't properly dry it. So one of the batteries inflated and stopped working and this would have allowed him to keep using the phone
The fact that even you - whose repair skills are at worst way above average - didnt manage to refit properly that inner screen is VERY worrying for repariabilty.
I mean, it's a foldable, the screen is so fragile on those. And given that everything is accessed through the back panel and front screen, the only time you'd realistically be removing the inner display is if you were replacing it.
What did you expect from a modern device besides being overpriced and eventually guaranteed ewaste? All foldables serve to do is selling you an inferior product by selling flaws as "features." There's literally nothing important or special about these devices besides literally bending in half with a weak screen that will never hold up.
@ObviouslyMegamind so long as there's buisness to be made, these things will never truly be reliably durable or repairable. To say it's the most repairable foldable really is just a low bar right off the batt.
as you can see the official screen comes with the metal frame and hinge mechanism around the foldable screen so you don't have to ever try to remove it. all samsung fold phones innner screen also comes with the metal frame and the hinge mechanism
10:17 My man, that's the storage, it has the Micron logo, the SoC/CPU is above in the other area covered with copper, besides that very cool video, you almost got the battery perfect, you should do a repair (with the outer rim included) when iFixit gets the official parts from Google, if it can be done (sort of) with the original Pixel Fold it will surely be doable on the new one hopefully
I feel like the inner display is a huge win for surviving that. They are so thin, fragile, and the size of it doesn't help either when trying to get it off. I'm honestly impressed with the technology and they can manage to squeeze everything into such a thin device
Well well!! I had to like and comment after watching this on my fold pro that only came today, you sure showed me hella stuff that i didn't need to find out but sooo glad i know now.
How did they even put not one but two screens on a single of the phone ,where's like 80 mm or less ,that's a unique design ,just how you sail wow 10/10
I had many Samsung oled phones. I dealt with lines on the screens. From my experience any oled with lines will work for a good 6 months to 1 year, after that screen evolves with more issues like touch doesn’t work or freezes,
Try disconnecting both batteries and leave it on for about 5 minutes. It’s actually just a little reserved energy, happens with power supples and such.
I wish you had shown the hinge mechanism with the cover on more closely before removing it. It would help explain why so many P9PFs have lumps in the inner screen valley and dimples. I suspect the flex cable connecting the two halves is poking up through the holes in the hinge backplate.
It's an awesome phone, don't get me wrong. But I love how they quote "in the US.", because everywere else in the world chiniese foldables exist, which are definetly ahead of Google and Samsung... (While the Pixel 9 Pro is still made in the US's enemy country) But maybe you could get your hands on a Honor Magic V3...? 👀
I can't help but compare foldables to my 8.8" tablet. For the inconvenience of not having a foldable I have a tablet that lasts longer as the screen won't crease, has great specs as it's a gaming tablet (Y700) and is 1/4 or 1/3 of the price of most foldables. Foldables have a long way to go.
It sounds like behind the scenes android is being optimized for removable batteries becoming a new norm based on regulations. Imagine a LG G5 style Battery layout for foldable phones
We worked on this for 17 hours straight 💀 Hope you guys enjoy!

If/when the internal battery gets drained, but very few people would make use of it.
Real life use is that you can keep using your phone if one of your batteries gets damaged, or you could replace just one
Linus Sebastian of LTT would have benefited from this because his z fold 3 did not support this feature and he dropped it in his pool and then didn't properly dry it. So one of the batteries inflated and stopped working and this would have allowed him to keep using the phone
@@the_undead that's a real life case that @toperaheem suggested...
Handy for the future when the batteries die and you want to access your data.

Foldables are still relatively new, this is probably one of the most repairable ones
@ObviouslyMegamind so long as there's buisness to be made, these things will never truly be reliably durable or repairable. To say it's the most repairable foldable really is just a low bar right off the batt.
