I have in the past but switched back again after a couple of years.
I am stuck with the terrible Iphone Pro Max. Because not a single reviewer mentioned that you have to used a credit card in order to download your music from pc. Nobody mentioned the lack of customizations in massage's and contacts. Nobody mentions that the Iphone files app is useless compared to samsung. The iPhone is Horrible. I value the camera as the Iphone does take nice pictures but that is all aside from the SOS Satellite. It isn't about learning the functions is about user friendlyness and apply fails in user friendliness. what a waste money.
Actually I did opposite. I switched from S24U to 15 Pro Max. I'm not in Eco-system though.. In addition what you have said Mark, USB-C finally allowing to listen music via USB-C cable :) Which makes headphones as B&W PX8 sounds amazing opening their full potential. On Samsung it was not possible for instance as PX8 volume was really low.

Just my thoughts as someone who got the 15 pro max back in October as their very first iPhone…ever. The last 6months have been THE BEST mobile phone experience I’ve ever had and I’ve had nearly every flagship from Samsung since 2009. I wish I would have switched soon. I doubt I will ever go back regardless of what Samsung offers, I never used half of the stuff android offered anyway. I don’t even use the action button on the iPhone. Everyone is different though. The “best” smartphone will always be subjective though. As for battery, at the time of typing this rant, I’m at 7hrs and 7mins of screen on time and still have 45% battery, I have never had a single android phone come anywhere close to what I get with this phone in terms of battery. I’m sure everyone’s mileage may vary, but mine is amazing, at least to me.
I was an Android head, but my past 3 phones have been Iphone. Like you, i never used everything about Android.
IPhone’s simplicity is what works for me

S21U owner here that has seen tons of the amazing videos out there for the S24U. Have to also own an iPhone 14 Plus for work related reasons and yeah it's certainly odd going between them for things (non Mac user). Prefer the customizability of Android but can of course understand the slickness and such of Apple and iOS. Subbed for your S24 switch to see what you think. Funny and nice video!

Great video Mark, very engaging with the S23 Ultra lurking in the background! haha. I am very impressed with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, especially the camera system which is the most important decision factor for me. I think action mode is sometimes overlooked, it's basically a gimbal in your pocket. On the 5x zoom lens it's incredible. I've filmed start to finish travel vlogs (around Australia) on my channel just using the iPhone 15 Pro Max, so easy to use and I always have it on me.
I too might be switching to the Samsung S24 S25 ultra. Because of one thing, I have had smart phones since the mid 2000 and I have never broken or scratched a screen yet , My phones are worked hard but looked after, and this iPhone 15 pro max as a long scratch from top to bottom and I don’t know how this appeared. This was after 2 weeks,
Some reviews did say back at the iPhone 13 the screens had changed, but for the worse,

Loved the humour in this video, great stuff! Personally I love my 15 Pro Max. I don't particularly care what the US DoJ thinks - I'm firmly in the Apple ecosystem but for me personally it brings a pile of actually useful cross-device functionality. The whole, as they say, is definitely greater than the sum of the individual parts.
I always say, if you can’t use or finishing an iPhone difficult and an android easier or better then it’s a YOU problem. His battery life argument, well, he’s just completely full of shit… I’ve got an s24U that gets about 4-6 hours of SOT before needing a charge while my 15PM is still sitting at over 50% with the same usage… all one has to do is look online at the many, MANY issues with the s24U. It’s simply a half baked product being tested on the Android buying population. The two updates I’ve received have had minimal effect on anything that’s wrong with my s24U, especially the crap camera quality. My first s24U I returned because I though the experience can’t be this crappy, there has to be something wrong with the phone, turns out that yes, the experience can be that crappy, it’s just that for some people, being able to move those icons around anywhere in the screen is more important than actually ease of use/usability in real life. Wish I wasn’t now stuck with this s24U but unfortunately I’ve passed my return window by hoping that the updates would fix its horrendous and many issues. Oh well, I’m sure some die hard android sucker out there will buy it from me.
My iPhone 15 Pro Max gets 10+ SoT with only 50% battery use. I can’t kill it in a day if I wanted to. It literally last about 20 hours SoT before it dies.
Have had an iPhone 15 pro max for 5 months now and battery life is great. A full day and half easy with long usage. Might just be your unit

I used to have 1 (one) iPhone in the early years. Think it was an iPhone 3 or 4 (Can't remember). After one year I gave it to my daughter. Since then I never bought an iPhone again. The reason: I don't know. I didn't feel comfortable. After that I only had Samsung phones. Now I'm using the S24 Ultra, and it's amazing. Don't care about the Apple Eco system. For me Apple is synonym to computers. So, I have a MBA 15" (24GB/1TB), and that is enough.(Also use the AirPods Pro). My watch is a Garmin Fenix 5 (time to upgrade in a while! ;-))

Love this video Mark, funny with the S24 lurking. I guess all this talk of various actions by the European Commission and US DOJ reminded me that they see phones as widgets, as the product itself, which you kind of do and I was surprised. The ecosystem is not a benefit of the iPhone, rather the ecosystem is the product itself; the iPhone is merely a component of that ecosystem. Having an iPhone means that when on the go whatever I do, I'll find on my Mac back home. Doesn't mean I will totally disregard the phone itself but whatever flaws it may or may not have will be compared to the benefits of remaining in the ecosystem. As for Samsung they have done many brilliant phones over the years. But then I had to listen to my friends complain about basic quality of life issues (even though they had the Samsung flagship phone) while they were trying to tease me for using an iPhone. So I'd be curious long term how the S24 fares. And I'lk make sure to watch your review of it.

I'm a long term Apple user/fanboy and have to say the S24 is the first non iPhone that has me looking sideways. I have the 14 Pro and the battery life is shockingly bad, it cannot last a day away from the charger.. I thought the days of carrying a battery to charge your phone were over but the 14 Pro has brought them right back...
If you are getting 5-7 hours screen on time off your phone in a day then battery is exactly as it should be. If you are constantly gaming and using camera/video function then you are not going to get that and that too is exactly as it should be. Unless you are a content creator, if you are spending 5-7 hours ( nearly a full work day) on your phone….Get A Life. It ain’t the phone, it’s you 🤷🏾

@cashsingh6185 5 to 7 hours screen on time was normal for a flagship 5 to 7 years ago. Today, that sucks I get 8 to 10 hours screen on time out of my S23 Ultra, and almost all reviewers are getting 9 to 10 hours screen on time out of the new S24 ultra. 😊

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is just version 4 of my 12 Pro Max. Same design and the same UI. The 5x camera is the first upgrade that interests me. However, I’m still waiting for a “must have” feature from Apple. The S24U looks way ahead this year. If Apple can beat the S24U with the 16PM, then it might be genuinely worth the upgrade.
Please expand on how difficult it is to migrate out of the Apple ecosystem ..

There should be no issue. The main reason people don't is that they prefer the Apple ecosystem.
totally agree about the 13PM having a far better battery. Very disappointing. In fact, I bought a 2020 iPhone SE the other day (new, £125!) as I love how small it is. So sometimes when I go out now I slip that in my pocket instead of the giant brick that is the 15 Pro Max.
But in many reviews and battery test they still praise that the Iphone ( in its Pro Max version) is a battery champ...is it really that bad?? 🤔
I have seen many battery tests and the iPhone 15PM is always close enough to the top versus Pixel and S24U, and mine is fantatsic. I assume it is down to usage, maybe a dodgy app. I have seen that UA-cam is inefficient, so I use Safari, and Meta apps sometimes use up to 50% more battery than Android. Maybe some work by Meta and Google to do better, but then again by doing bad they get people to switch due to perceived worse battery life.
I have the S24U as well as the 15PM and I rarely use the S24U. The Galaxy AI is meh, I do not use the s-pen, and all the extra features are moot as once I set my phone up, I rarely change anything. TBH, I watch videos claiming one phone dominates and I feel that they are very subjective as most phones in 2024 have pros and cons and all are excellent.
I prefer the iPhone as it has been a lifesaver with the Apple ecosystem over the last 15 years, and although recently Android has grown their ecosystems, why would I change when the Apple system works so well and I have great productivity. I have even tried and couldn't last a week with Windows and Android. I suppose the reverse applies to Windows users in that natural monopoly.
As for the 15PM, it is iterative, much like the S24U, and most other phones, but it is refined with great efficiency and performance. Of course, it is from last year so the iPhone 16PM will be the real 2024 competitor to the S24U and will have AI and the new A18Pro chip that should be 20-30% faster than the S24U. That will be the real test of Samsung -v- Apple in 2024.

I found the pixel was absolutely horrible for battery life, and the 15 pro max is better than the 14 pro max 🤷🏼♂️
Really in the end it’s down to choice isn’t it? I enjoy the Apple eco system it’s convenient and works. The only Apple product I use least is the iPad. Maybe the changes coming in iOS 18 will be game changing for the iPhone? I would say in passing that the US DoJ investigation into Apple is totally political. Great video as always Mark.

The Find My feature. I like that family can check where we are or even if we lose our phone.
If I could do that on the Samsung or Google phone then I would change
Android has it and the feature is called Find my device, easy to access and set up.

Lower quality materials in the batteries to keep cost down is what is limiting battery life.
If the battery of the 15 PM is not enough you need to do other things in life than playing with your phone.

Hey! What about moving subjects indoor? Like kids or pets? I want to switch from iOS but that’s the only thing that is stopping me. With 2 kids in the past Samsung never got it right and I’m hoping this one is the one that can make me switch
If you really can’t get what you want, Burst mode can do the job.
Samsung is not the best but the narrative saying it’s impossible to do good photos with a Samsung: i think it’s not true. Samsung has improved.
Of course, don’t force yourself and compare the overall smartphone experience. Good luck for your choice.
S24 Ultra handles those scenarios MUCH better.
In comparison to the 14"ProMax, it sucks when playing music on Bluetooth speakers & car stereos. Apple went backwards on this one. If it isn't broke, don't fix it!
Think why the iPhone sucks now is because they’re trying to expand the pro vision to be appealing and useful ..so they’re exacerbating their resources 🤷 whilst overpricing for crumby underdates

Yup. I’m quite disappointed with the battery life of the 15 Pro Max as well. Especially when you use it to take pics. Camera app drains battery fast.
The 24mp default and all the AI going on, it is to be expected. If you watch battery life comparisons, all camera activities eat their respective batteries, maybe even worse than the iPhone. If you want the fancy stuff then expect more battery drain.
No matter what, apple will always be apple. Samsung will keep advertising 😂😂😂😂😂
Crapple is terrible. It's all you isheep that keep buying the same phone every year, that's why they never have to change anything properly. 10 years for that USB port and that's only cos they were forced to do it 😂
@@kellymorton6001 I know you have a lot difference between the s22 ultra and s23 ultra and now with the s24 ultra. Let’s wait and see the design changes with the s25 ultra from next year. All smartphones companies, follows apple’s steps baby girl, because even Samsung works for apple in other to make money. I pity Samsung, because now want to start making their own display just like they did with the vision pro. And yes, the top best selling devices in the world from 1-7 were all iPhones. The Samsung s-series weren’t even on the lists. So everyone are stupid, only you and your family and friends get sense. What can s24 ultra do that the s23 ultra is not capable of doing? I had a s21 ultra, utter trash, lots of owners on the EU members forum complaining of dropped calls. Got a full refund as Sam’s couldn’t fix it. And finally - IPHONE has double the frame rate for playing games, it’s been bench tested and the s24 performs poorly against the 15pm across all gaming metrics
Since the s24U I'm done with apple lol its so goooood, the iphone is an embarrassment

I am basically paying $38 a month for Apple One 1️⃣ I am doing the math and will all my subscriptions I am basically paying $456 a year and adding all my subscriptions you could add at least $100 to that. So $556 all in and I am wondering 💭 if it is even worth it. If I get a Samsung phone I can use Dex and I don't have to buy a tablet. I think 🤔 I would save a lot of money. Apple 🍎 wants to sell you multiple devices to do things but it seems like Samsung just wants you to buy one device and if you do then great but it is not the end of the world 🌎 Does anyone know how much it costs to be in the Samsung ecosystem? Apple is the only company where you still pay even after you pay off your phone. 📱 I am so tired of the micro transactions cutting into me every month.

Siri sucks and there AI will likely be trash 🗑️ it is so hard to keep living Apple I didn’t want to leave but they are so lazy with there technology
