@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia it’s a great phone! Surprisingly does well in low light conditions. I use the Filmic Pro app to record. All videos thus far have been filmed with the iPhone 12/Filmic Pro. However, if you’re in the market I’d take a look at the iPhone 13 as that has an improved sensor.
I think I will look into the 13! I currently have the 7! 😯

Can I just say how good this video is. I haven't filmed anything special as of yet (or at least anything I'm that proud of), mostly just walking vids and bike vids cause I thought I'll film it since I'm doing it anyway; essentially lazy mode of video making.
But here you are, with just some shots of you at your laptop, getting in the car, driving down to a parking lot (for the most part) and you made that look beautiful and engaging to watch. Your choice of music, the narration, was all just on point and really well done (in my opinion).
I don't know why it took so long for me to get it, cause you do go on about it in other vids, but you can really make the simplest things/actions look really cool and interesting by being creative with how you film and edit, often time regardless of gear.
You've moved me to action; I'm going to try and make my next video be something on par with what you made above. A simple but engaging night video. Thanks for the motivation and knowledge man, if you do by chance see this comment then I'll let you know when it's up as maybe it might be cool for you to see how you influenced some guy on the other side of the planet up his film game 🤷♂ (I'm a Montrealer living in Australia).

Still one of the best low light videos on UA-cam. Informative and inspiring. My call to action has been somewhat delayed, but the motivation returns. Thanks to you for making great videos. I'm planing to buy ZV-E10 and sigma 16 and 56. but I wonder what would be the best lightweight gimbal I can use as a combo. Appreate a lot.

Personally I use the DJI Ronin SC. It's not a large gimbal and it has some great features as well.
I have seen the Zhiyun Crane M3 gimbal and on paper it looks pretty good. I haven't had a chance to use it in the real world though, so I can't really say how well it works personally.

Great video❤. My problem with this camera is the noise in the dark areas, its not pure black or muted colors, its always shifted colors and grainy footage. You said you need light but in the road shot there was no lights around the road but the dark areas remained clean black. I wonder whats the cause?! Thank you for answering❤❤
First of all, thanks for taking the time to watch.
You are right that the camera needs light to properly expose a picture. The reason you aren't seeing a lot of noise in the shot your described is because of a shooting technique called "exposing for the highlights".
I am currently working on a video that describes how this works and what the best practices are o get the best ou of your camera.

I have a m50 but there is still much to learn for me.. I'm thinking of buying a gimbal zhiyun crane m3. This is pretty similar camera to your sony and as far as I work on it I will get better, promise! :D

I was wrong, I thought this M.M index should be between 0 and 1.5 , but in your video it’s (-2) even less, with ISO 100 and picture looks so clean.

Very calm and soothing voice! Great content. Great camera! I stupidly bought a canon m50 mkii last week and I'm going to sell it and get this. I'm filming woodworking projects in my garage, but the lighting isn't great. The M50 is terrible in low light 😂

What lenses are you using? This can make a HUGE difference in how much light you are able to get in your videos and photos. With the right lens, most cameras can do well in low light! There are A LOT of great cameras out there!

Just wanted to say you have a nice, informed relaxed presentation style that I appreciate... puts me at ease in a difficult bit of learning, I'm used to shooting YT vids on my old LG G6 and it was fine. I was shooting in 4k @ 24fps. In a few of the shots I was riding in my vehicle with the camera resting on the edge of the window.
Other shots I may have used my Ronin SC I really can't remember since this video was a while ago...

That's an insane performance in low light for a budget camera. But then I remember that _it is_ a $600 camera so maybe I should not be surprised but expect it to perform this way haha. I know that's nothing for people into cameras but it is for the average shmoe.
You are 100% correct! 600 isn’t CHEAP at all when we talk about money however, when we compare other cameras (within the camera world) it’s “cheaper” if that makes sense.
It’s not a bad deal all considering the price. I am going to make a video specifically about how to get great performance in low light! 💡

I have a fz2500 with just 1"
I learned to eliminate noise from camera and boosting iso by reducing the shadows in camera by -3 or -5

Great question!
The metering in this video (if I can remember) was probably set to multi or average.
For accuracy I could have changed it to spot metering to meter the exposure of the bright parts of the scene.
Zebras will probably work best in a setting this like. The camera was averaging the entire scene and determined there wasn’t enough light for a “proper” exposure.

Thanks for supporting the channel and thanks for the positive feedback! My settings were generally the same for all shots. I was shooting mostly on the Sigma 16.mm ISO 100 / (24 FPS) 1/50 shutter speed. PP10 (Default Settings) no correction in post. I hope this helps! 😃

It really depends!
If you are an average user and want to do both photo and video for this price, it’s STILL unmatched!
Think of it this way, cameras don’t go DOWN in quality or features as time goes by, they stay the same!
Camera OPTIONS may come up as time goes by however, MOST people don’t NEED the newest features that BRAND NEW cameras are offering.
If you want to get GREAT quality at a GREAT price, the ZV-E10 is still a great buy!
You also must know how and where you will be using your camera!

Honestly, this was so long ago.. I can't remember what my setting were.
I imagine I had my ISO between 400-800 aperture around 1.4 shutter speed 1/50.

what lens do you think would be best for clips of cars/motorcycles in dark parking lots, night shots, and also sunset shots? I also want to pick up scenery as well.
The wider the aperture the more light 💡 can get into the camera.
So lenses with wide apertures will work best. I am shooting with the Sigma 16mm in this video for the most part.

Does the ZVE10 camera need to shoot in HLG on a dark evening?
No it doesn’t NEED to shoot in HLG. I find that choosing the correct lens, ISO (for your shooting style) and setting the right white balance, gives the best outcome as far as low noise is concerned.
I like HLG for how it grades in low light but you certainly don’t have to use it to get great results! 😊

This depends on one’s understanding of exposure settings and choosing a lens that has a wide aperture.

I used the Catalyst Browse software that can be downloaded for the ZV E10.
I shot this on the Sigma 16mm 1.4.

I would say if you can, rent the lenses you are interested in first.
Without knowing your room dimensions and lighting setup it’s going to be hard to advise.
Renting will give you “experience” with the lenses and it will also give you “real world” feedback as to if the lens wi work for you.

How good is the EIS with a 1/50s shutter speed in video? - I don’t quite understand how they can do stabe without bumping up the shutter speed significantly which leads to unnatural motion
It works pretty well. The software has more information to work with higher at shutter speed however, having used this camera for a while, it's not that big of an issue.

You really can't go wrong with either camera. They are both capable of putting out high quality images based on your level of skill.
The type of photography that you will be doing will also matter when choosing a camera.
I created a video a while back that highlights how to choose the camera that fits you best and I also have a Sony ZV-E10 playlist.
Keep in mind that the Sony ZV-E10 is VERY hard to find at the moment. Sony stopped production on them due to the chip shortage.

I am debating whether to get this camera, the Canon M50(v2?), the Sony EV-1 OR just a quality lens for my Canon 5d3.
I’m looking to film semi close up - about 9-12 inches away over a countertop (filming some craft making), as well as low light exterior (night) video (camera mounted on a tripod).
So, not sure if I should try to get 1 or 2 quality lenses (24-70 f2.8, or 24-105 f4, and/ or a prime - all used) or one of these cameras.
Any thoughts / considerations would be greatly appreciated.

I would would go with the ZV E10. Not just because I am reviewing it here in this video but because it's a GREAT camera at a great price!
The autofocusing on the ZV E10 is better than the 5D Mark iii and the Cannon M50 V2.
As far as a lens goes, I would recommend renting a lens first to see what will work best for you!

The ZV-E10 is also a cheap way to get into 4k, it’s compact, gives me video - so I can continue to use my 5d3 for photography, the ZVE10 for video and then much later on when there are more lenses for mirrorless and the technology has matured, I can then look into a full frame video.

I love the quality of your shots but more impressive than the low light capture is the fact that you apparently beat rolling shutter. How did you do that? :O
With the help of a couple infinity stones Thanos mailed to me.. I was able to defeat the rolling shutter!
Honestly, I find that the rolling shutter's scan speed is only shown when using a lens with a really tight focal length and panning back and forth or quickly.
For the most part a lot of UA-camrs have really blown it up MUCH bigger than the issue actually is!

I guess it would be cool but I don’t think it’s needed.
Cost would probably go up and out of the range of those people the camera is aimed at. 🤷🏽♂️

@@ristanadwicahya You could be right, however MOST people (in my opinion) won't truly benefit from it. Most vlogs aren't going to be shot in low light. There are also downsides of a BSI sensor in high key situations. Thanks for commenting.

Is the cannon M50 better at low light and blur background for clear image?
I wouldn’t say it’s better or worse at low light.
However, it’s better to shoot in 4K in low light situations! However the Canon loses its dual pixel auto focus abilities when shooting in 4k.
So essentially it will be VERY difficult for the camera to “autofocus” in low light situations!
The Sony will still have it’s same focus abilities in 4K and low light!

If you film with an 1.4, it is hard to tell how the actual camera behaves in low light:s
This wasn’t a noise test, this was a test to see if (with the correct settings) the camera could resolve in a low light situation.
These were very extreme low light situations which actually tell us more about the sensor’s performance in low light situations.
Aperture only deals with how much light the camera is getting, iso will determine HOW GOOD the cameras gain amplifier is and how it deals with noise.
What settings would you have used for this test?
