    I am so happy to come across this feature on UA-cam this morning, and it took me back to my early years in my photographic journey in the late 1960s and early 1970s. I was introduced to the works of Angel Adams at a small local photography club and my world exploded with curiosity about what photography required to lead me forward to my eventual career.
    Very soon after that in my late teens, my mother gave me a book for Christmas- A Life in Photography, by Steichen. My second jolt about where my life would lead. I still have this book, but haven’t viewed it in years. That’s about to change.
    Thank you for bringing back one of my greatest inspirations in my life and career.

      Wow, what an incredible story! 😊 It’s amazing how certain moments and discoveries shape our creative paths. Ansel Adams and Steichen are both giants in photography, each leaving an undeniable impact on the art form.
      It’s so special that you still have A Life in Photography-what a meaningful gift from your mother! That book is truly a treasure, and I love that this video has inspired you to revisit it.
      Thank you for sharing this with me! It means a lot to know that this content can bring back such important memories. Wishing you all the best as you reconnect with that inspiration. Stay tuned for more, and feel free to share with others who might enjoy it! 📸✨

    I can’t even fathom how much he has seen in his life. Born in the 1800s, both world wars. What a story. Thankfully he documented a lot of it with his amazing photos

    • @Joel_Ulises
      @Joel_Ulises  4 дні тому

      Absolutely! It’s incredible to think about everything Steichen witnessed during his lifetime-so much history, so many changes. His journey through photography, from the late 1800s to the mid-20th century, is truly remarkable.
      And like you said, we’re lucky that he documented so much of it with his amazing images. His work gives us a window into the past, not just in a historical sense but also through his artistic vision.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😊 Stay tuned for more, and feel free to share the channel with anyone who might enjoy it. Have a great day! 📸✨

    These are beautiful photographs. I've always found black and white pictures to have an ethereal component to them, like something that shows explicitly yet having an intangible yet powerful quality about them that makes them seem really alive in their expression.

    • @Joel_Ulises
      @Joel_Ulises  3 дні тому

      Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! 😊 I completely get what you mean about black and white photography having that ethereal quality-there’s something about the absence of color that makes the emotions and details feel even more alive.
      Edward Steichen had an incredible way of capturing that depth, almost like he was painting with light instead of just taking pictures. His work truly stands the test of time.
      I really appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts. It means a lot! Stay tuned for more content, and if you know anyone who might enjoy this, feel free to share! 👍 Hope you have an amazing day! 😃📸

    What a life, what a range in his work!
    Some of his early works made me think of František Drtikol for some reason, some of Josef Sudek, and then he started jumping ahead and I was just "okay, so this is Mr. Steichen too!".
    Very interesting shiny highlights and "kicked down" rest of the image in some shots.
    Thank you!

    • @Joel_Ulises
      @Joel_Ulises  4 дні тому +1

      Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! 😊 Steichen truly had an incredible life and such a wide range in his work-it’s fascinating to see how he evolved over time.
      I can definitely see why some of his early works might remind you of Drtikol and Sudek. He had a way of experimenting with light and mood that connected with different photographic styles, yet he always managed to push forward into something uniquely his own. His ability to constantly reinvent himself is what makes him such a legendary figure.
      I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts! Hope you have a great day, and stay tuned for more content. Feel free to share the channel with anyone who might enjoy it! 📸✨

    My mother not only knew Dorothy Norman, but actually saw "The Family of Man" with her. It has never truly impressed me. Steichen's photographs made before the Great War were transcendent; his fashion photographs were excellent, but Irving Penn's were better. My opinion, of course, but I was privileged to see two prints of "Flatiron Building", which I consider the finest ever made.

      Thank you for your keen observation! 😊 You're absolutely right-Steichen’s body of work is so vast and influential that a single video can’t fully do it justice. His ability to capture elegance, personality, and timeless beauty is truly remarkable.
      The images you mentioned-Golden Measure, Fred Astaire in Top Hat, and Garbo Backwards in Chair-are all stunning examples of his mastery. Each one tells a story in its own unique way, showcasing his deep understanding of composition, light, and human expression.
      I really appreciate you pointing them out! Thanks for watching and engaging with the content. Stay tuned for more, and feel free to share with anyone who might enjoy it! Have a fantastic day! 😊📸
