Thank you. Check out my newest additions to the processor. It works much better than this. Thanks for taking the time to watch and especially comment. Have a great day.
You are one creative guy jerry the pallet set up an now the wood processor. We Ben trying to figure out a better way with our slabs an after watching this I think you solved our problem . Price of them rollers is gona go sky high on Facebook with everyone looking for them now after your video .
Oh excellent. I'll head over to your channel tomorrow and check it. You will love it. I've changed this set up a bit. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great rest of your weekend.
Very nicely done! Funny how when we ge old and beaten up we can come up with such contraptions. Many men would have just quit, decided it was just too hard or hurt too much to keep on a werkin, but we just find a way. Congrats to you and I wish you many more years of doing what you love.
For cutting slab wood like that I would think about using a TCT drop saw. I have a 12" TCT saw blade in my abrasive steel cut off saw and it has done tens of cubic metres without needing oil, 2 stroke or sharpening. With some fiddling I have cut through up to 8" diameter wood and also old sleepers. I have a 15" blade I want to put on the saw but I need to fab up a guard. With that on I should be able to nearly dock a sleeper in 1 pass.
WOW!! Simple, inexpensive, and keeps you from having to constantly bending over!!! Even if it only works for slabs it would be worth it, but I would agree with you that it will also work for round logs too. I don't know about you, but for me anything that will keep me from having to constantly bend over to put pieces on the splitter is the key, and even if you ran it by yourself, you could load up the second conveyor and then move to the splitter without bending over to pick up the pieces!! I think you have a gamechanger for cutting firewood while saving your back at he same time!
I like everything you said about it. My back gets sore just like every other older person when cutting wood. This really made it nice. My only complaint is the left hand cut. I am not as coordinated with my left and the sawdust covers you. I have not been able to come up with a better way of mounting to saw that I think that would be good on the right. I'm thinking of something like the Wellingstien mounts. Thanks for the comment.
@@BigelowWoodcraft I don't think that your mount is bad, but you have it set up to pull slabs with your right hand and to cut with your left. What about putting the log deck on the side where you are standing, and your saw on the other side?? That way you would move slabs down the conveyor with your left hand, then hold them and cut with your right?? After you start cutting with your right hand, you can modify your mount to be a little more ergonomic if needed??
This is pretty cool! Were you thinking all along you wanted to run the saw with your left hand, or was this an "oops" and you wish you loaded the logs from the other side?
@@WoodsTreeFarm that's a great question. When I first built the first "hinge" it was a bolt through the bar. I didn't want the bolt to be too long. It would have been about 10 inches on the right side. Then I came up with the hinge I'm using now and it worked great. I only used the side in this video only a couple times. It was hell....it was like I was throwing with my wrong hand.
Good afternoon Jerry. I really like the design and build of your firewood processor, but I was curious about the why the saw was mounted to the left? Are you left handed?
No I'm not left handed. In fact I do not like it on this side. I couldn't figure a good way to mount it right handed. The pin I feel would be too long if I reversed it and have too much play. I'm scheming up a new bracket to mount to three other side. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
Hey! a good combination, but I would personally install a splitting machine so that you could conveniently use it alone. But It's good for the wife to have a job too😊
Check you out upping your game with a processor stand. That thing is a beauty. She works great too eh ? What about some sort of assisted clamp or is your hand sufficient enough to hold the pieces in place ? Great job your wife did too, always helps with another set of hands that's for sure. Great video buddy 👍
I've got few modifications coming. Think how wellenstien firewood processor advance the log.... :) It worked great with slabs and it's going to work great with a couple modifications with round logs. A clamp is fabricated. I just have to mount it. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy.
Just found this channel very impressed with the DIY firewood processor i used to do firewood getting old for it now but you're invention makes me want start again. There was a local sale recently with a load of old rollers i looked at them thinking there must be something could use them for. Shame not seen the video bef. Would it work on round wood though?
Check out the video I poasted a couple weeks ago. I do round logs. I also have a few videos coming out showing round again. This Friday will be a new one as well.
It really makes it easy. It was also a fun build. I put some round logs on it. I'll try those in the next few days. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I found all the rollers getting ready to build this, but I found a grain elevator and attached it to my wood splitter, and it works great. Oh, my splitter is self loading.
I have a very similiar project I'm building now...maybe consider adding a 4x4 or 6x4 in front of of where the saw is cutting wood, this would move the wood 4-6" away fr9m the pivot where the saw is attached and avoid the awkward shoulder angle at the last part of the cut. I think it would work. Great job!
I switched out around and cut in the other side now and have it a bit more stream lined. I now use a winch to pull along the logs. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@BigelowWoodcraft that's what mine has, the winch is mounted to a tree with a snatch block approx 8' up the winch cable then connects to a big set of log tongs. The winch cable is up high si I never have to worry about hitting it, I have been watch8ng for a set of used rollers, I put down some 1/4" plastic sheeting to help the trees slide in the meantime. From cutting to trailer I have a down hill slope that the logs roll into truck bed trailer, where my splitter stands vertical. I built the stands out of pallets its temped togather so I can use it and modify it and tweak it before building permanent version.
@BigelowWoodcraft best I can say is it's a few months out, I had to make all my videos private due to an issue with the county here that is currently unresolved, long story short they destroyed a bunch of my property and were trying to use videos of the land as time-lapse to fix less, so I put them all private until it is resolved. I will be making one in the coming weeks and posting it as it is a long ways from any area they have messed with.
I do that sometimes I'm still learning how to use it. The problem with stacking and spitting with this splitter is the wedge is only about 5 or 6 inches high so if the slabs are 2 thick they kick out. It was her first time running the splitter. She's starting to figure it out.
No bending over ! I love it. Looks like it works great. When I was a kid 1972 dad built me an ice boat. We used three saw blades as runners. I remember not being able to drill then ( hardened ). New better drill technology or did you burn a hole in it ? Btw I outran our 18 horse bombardier lol. Good times. Great video
It wasn't too bad to drill through. Lots of coolant. I did have to sharpen my drill but once. That's a great idea about the ice sled...dang. I just threw away an old bar.
This is close to exactly how I want to setup my yard. I’m just starting a firewood business and I can’t find conveyors around here to save my life. Big money on fb marketplace 😊

Awesome build Jerry!! Definitely won't blow away🤣 Could you do a video with rounds, I cut 90% rounds instead of slabs. I'm going to have to start looking for conveyor rollers
Looks like it works pretty good. Thought about putting the log storage on a down hill pitch to the conveyers. How do you like the titan forks on your tractor? I need to get me some and they are priced reasonably just hate to buy without seeing them.
I actually did think about cutting the 4x6 on a taper to help roll logs down to the conveyor. Now I'm thinking about the other conveyors I have turned 90 degrees so it would roll down the conveyor to the cut off conveyor. Not sure if that makes sense at all. Lol I have the 4000 pound forks and really do like them. Never had any problem with them.
Do you or your wife ever get wood slivers? Work gloves would help prevent infections and calluses. When you can pick up a wool sweater without closing your hand you need gloves .😊
