That's some really good insight about higher carrier braid. I've lived it. My PP never gives me problems and most of it is 3 seasons old. Some of the newer stuff is quieter coming through the guides but gives me the very problems you mention. That is something to watch. Thank you for sharing.
The more we dig into the issue, the more often we hear of other angler struggling. Thanks for the comment. Some of our guys have gone back to the alberto knot since it doesn't dig as much. Not sure if that helps.
@@AlphaAngler additional update. I fished an entire day with SX1 braid (not sure I am fan of this braid) where the coating had worn off, and cut my leader length so that it was just outside the spool on every cast and I had ZERO line wrap, wind knows or funky casting issues. ZERO. AND I would throw my bait, wacky worm, weightless texas rig etc, A COUNTRY MILE. I am not sure if the shorter leader length will cost me bites, as I fish in gin clear water, BUT I have rid myself of the annoyance of line issues while casting. The other thing this fixed, which I think is a by proud of the knot rubbing the line on the spool while casting, is I was getting braid fraying just below the knot, causing me to retie an annoying number of times during a day of fishing. Well, that is gone. No longer an issue if the knot stays outside the spool. Be good to hear what other braid people are using to without the issue of a longer leader digging into the spool and causing casting issues. I just ordered some Fins Windtamer, Daiwa J Braid Grand and Gama, as I am not convinced that Sunline SX1 is a good product....
I use the Alberto knot and have very little issues. But, as I’m listening to this my knot almost never goes into the spool and I rotate my braid a lot since I am on the water daily.

@@AlphaAngler that's the knot I've settled in on as well. Super strong and still pretty small so it goes in and out of the guides pretty well.
