I had never heard of that mount eerie album before so I just went to listen to it and had to turn it off after two songs. You weren’t kidding, it’s heavy. Keep this series going! It’s fun and I’m getting a lot of cool new music to check out.
Okay, legit, this is my favorite of the sub-series of Too Many Records. Great job gentlemen! I was cracking up this whole episode. I think my gf would like to do a vinyl intervention with me.
Love you both, love these videos, this one was even better than last, keep them coming! I pulled my copy of Copycat Killer as soon as you guys gushed over it (it's spinning as I write this). Happy holidays to you both!
I love these episodes - they’re great fun! Awesome Wave and Lions Roar are two of my favourite albums. I’ve seen First Aid Kit live a couple of times and they are brilliant! Cheers guys!
I will say I’m very thankful you got me into motion city soundtrack as Sarah and I both love pop punk. We had no idea who they were before we started to get to know you so winning this to add to our collection would be so cool! We love you and Goose and I genuinely enjoy watching these videos. You guys are great 🫶🏼
These videos are fun. I feel your pain on those Sufjan pressings. So good, but never as good as they should be pressing wise. Fingers crossed I win your album
4000 records!! You take yo many records to the next level my dude!! Would love an album from you! Your channel is what got me into records a few years back! Thank you man💙💙🎄🎁
Love Commit This to Memory, and for some reason I’ve never picked it up! That record reminds me of college nights with my friends, goofing of and drinking when we should have been studying! Great times!
I just wanted to remind you that the 10th Anniversary Blue Marvel Edition of Illinois came with a red star-shaped 12" Chicago (Demo)...I'm surprised you didn't remember or think to show it. I would have a hard time parting with mine even if I had a balloon original like you do. I'm enjoying this series and while I've been purging a few hundred of my inherited/free old records that came my way as well as a lot of thrift finds throughout 2024 to exchange for credit at my local go-to indie shop, I haven't done a serious purge of my "main" collection; which is currently approx. 1150 records. In 2025 it's my intention to begin whittling it down to my essentials. Cheers!
That Alt J bandbox is really cool. i love that cover. Anyway, good for you for giving it up and culling the collection. I do it three or 4 times a year and it’s never easy. Love this segment by the way.
Motion City Soundtrack was a new discovery for me this year; My best friend from high school showed me them and he enjoyed them for their pop punk elements while I enjoyed the power pop elements more. I made a rough comparison to Pinkerton by Weezer although that was more of a recommendation to him in return. Within about a week or two later, I was running some errands and my local college radio station was playing a song I liked that I had never heard before so I Shazam’d it quickly to find out that it was a Motion City Soundtrack song I hadn’t heard yet: The Samurai Code. Also I’m loving this new series. It’s having me contemplating selling all but one of my Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino variants
How dare you Goose? You need two copies of the original Illinoise, one to keep the balloon sticker, one to peel, then the Marvel copy, and finally the Newbury version with the Christmas colors. I will allow that the new Yellow pressing is superfluous but that’s the line.
Re: Awesome Wave. Obviously keep both! It’s an amazing album and you just need to frame the signed album cover and keep the other for playing to justify keeping both. PS keep doing this, guys. They warm my heart.
I have around 4000 LPs and 10,000 45s and it's still not enough. LOL...I am afraid of making this type of video with my wife doing the picking. You're more brave than I am. Great video!
Love this style video, I enjoyed the fun. I would like best the album you are giving away as I don't know any of them and have a newly started small collection - I'd like to discover what it is like.
Great series, you should keep these going on a regular basis so that records on the floor can fit on the shelve. Goose should have been dressed as the Grinch or at least wearing Grinch colors for this episode.
i absolutely love that motion city soundtrack album!! they're one of my favorite pop punk acts and i feel like they don't get nearly enough recognition. that and their debut i am the movie was in heavy rotation in my teen years lol. and if i was anywhere near the shop i'd for sure grab that alt-J, that pressing is so rad
Really enjoying this series. I already have that bandbox exclusive of motion city, but it arrived with a little scratch, and now bandbox is out of business. So it would be nice to have a new copy….
Great series, I like the Santa hats this time! 😎🎅 That Mount Eerie album I still never finished listening to and I like some other Mount Eerie albums 😅 I always want to get some Sufjan on vinyl then read the bad reviews about the sound and hesitate, if only they’d make audiophile versions of his material 😕
First, you can never have too many copies of Awesome Wave…from one hoarder to another. Commit This to Memory is another one that everyone needs. Hahaha you know my feelings on Sufjan. It’s love hate..and you can keep it. I totally agree that all the pressings of his albums are hot garbage. I do need illnoise though… Any time you need me to come thin the herd you just let me know… Count me in for the giveaway! -Record Panda
Purging is healthy. I’ve only kept the original and 30th anniversary edition of The Cult’s Sonic temple and (shameful blush) 6 different pressings/remastered of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular bells. Those I can not get rid of. They’re safe.
If you are getting into country more then do yourself a favour and check out Corb Lund’s “Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier” it’s a masterpiece. I think he’s a modern Johnny Cash in all the most amazing ways - helps he was bass player for the Smalls.
A lot of records are definitely cool to own, as collectables and objets d’art. But ultimately they are meant to be played. You have a lot of modern records that are digitally sourced, those would - personally speaking - be the easiest for me to cull down in a large collection, as they are rarely the best way to hear a particular recording. Even just sticking to all-analog classics from the golden age, it is still far too easy to be stuck with… too many records.
All love, but just for the sake of discussion. For my corner of vinyl collecting, the variant collecting doesn’t seem like a relevant part of the hobby. First pressings are connected to the ”memorabilia” aspect of it, like history and the actual time period of the release. Pretty colours I don’t get. Get’s so far removed of the music itself.
Love this series....Goose isnt as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as your past pickers 😊 but he's doing a sterling job with his choices. Keep 'em coming
Yes to doubles purging! 👌
Go Goose, GO! Super fun video...keep 'em coming (pretty please)!!!!!
I love this series so entertaining
I had never heard of that mount eerie album before so I just went to listen to it and had to turn it off after two songs. You weren’t kidding, it’s heavy. Keep this series going! It’s fun and I’m getting a lot of cool new music to check out.
It's BRUTAL
Plan on listening to it too. Sounds like an album that needs to be listened to.
Okay, legit, this is my favorite of the sub-series of Too Many Records. Great job gentlemen! I was cracking up this whole episode. I think my gf would like to do a vinyl intervention with me.
Thank you!! :D
Love you both, love these videos, this one was even better than last, keep them coming! I pulled my copy of Copycat Killer as soon as you guys gushed over it (it's spinning as I write this). Happy holidays to you both!
Been loving the episodes lol. Think this one was way more forgiving than the last. Keep it up!
This is the best content on UA-cam. Music nerdom is painful across the spectrum but it's so entertaining to watch.
I love these episodes - they’re great fun! Awesome Wave and Lions Roar are two of my favourite albums. I’ve seen First Aid Kit live a couple of times and they are brilliant! Cheers guys!
Man I'd love to see them live
I will say I’m very thankful you got me into motion city soundtrack as Sarah and I both love pop punk. We had no idea who they were before we started to get to know you so winning this to add to our collection would be so cool! We love you and Goose and I genuinely enjoy watching these videos. You guys are great 🫶🏼
We love you too!!
You guys are awesome!!!
These videos are fun. I feel your pain on those Sufjan pressings. So good, but never as good as they should be pressing wise. Fingers crossed I win your album
It's hard to say goodbye to great records no matter how many copies you have. We appreciate the sacrifice 🙏
4000 records!! You take yo many records to the next level my dude!! Would love an album from you! Your channel is what got me into records a few years back! Thank you man💙💙🎄🎁
Damn Zelda and chill would be cool!! Keep doing these videos!! Kinda addictive lol
Love Commit This to Memory, and for some reason I’ve never picked it up! That record reminds me of college nights with my friends, goofing of and drinking when we should have been studying! Great times!
This was exactly what I needed to see!! I know what I will be working on over the holidays . . .
In 2025 it's my intention to begin whittling it down to my essentials. Cheers!
Now I feel like I may need that one. It wasn’t on the radar with the star shaped 12”.
Great video guys, excited to pop back by the store before I leave portland to head back to Australia in a few weeks.
That Alt J bandbox is really cool. i love that cover. Anyway, good for you for giving it up and culling the collection. I do it three or 4 times a year and it’s never easy. Love this segment by the way.
Kool
I like it
Fun series! That album by First Aid Kit is so good. Also I really love that Alt-J record An Awesome Wave. A classic for sure.
Great collection, I love the Alice In Chains, there both on my holy grail list
Very cool new series ! Happy Holidays !
RIP Bandbox! Really loved them 😢
Loving this series!! Inspiring my own purging.

Great vids, love how Goose, tries to make you get rid of the albums that he wants. lol
I don't 😛
How dare you Goose? You need two copies of the original Illinoise, one to keep the balloon sticker, one to peel, then the Marvel copy, and finally the Newbury version with the Christmas colors. I will allow that the new Yellow pressing is superfluous but that’s the line.
I could never let anyone talk me into letting pieces from my collection go, you have more power than me lol
I do it all for you
Re: Awesome Wave. Obviously keep both! It’s an amazing album and you just need to frame the signed album cover and keep the other for playing to justify keeping both. PS keep doing this, guys. They warm my heart.
That would have been a good argument... had I thought of it... but now it sold in the store yesterday :(
I loved the video and the records you have are great, especially the Illinois one. Regards.
Really enjoying this series! Helps remind me that downsizing my collection is something that can be helpful lol.
This was so good! I want all of these records
yeeeah.. new episode!!! 🎉
I'm really enjoying these videos, keep it up!!
I have around 4000 LPs and 10,000 45s and it's still not enough. LOL...I am afraid of making this type of video with my wife doing the picking. You're more brave than I am. Great video!
You were right, Goose was downright evil! At least we can both keep tormenting him with our Weathervanes.
double Weathervanes attack!!
You should keep a running tally from all episodes of keepers and sellers.
Love the Alt-J album !! It's in my top 10 too
it's too good
Love this style video, I enjoyed the fun. I would like best the album you are giving away as I don't know any of them and have a newly started small collection - I'd like to discover what it is like.

Bah humbug
Grinchy Goose would have been next level. Maybe for the 2025 holiday episode.
Love these!
Hello matt its good to downsize a collection every once and while. Hope the shop doing well.
Way to go. You’re learning to let go. But not too much. ;) Motion City Soundtrack rocks. But I prefer black vinyl.
Thanks for The Knife let go! You should really let that MCS Even If It Kills Me alternate cover vinyl go. 😂
Goose should be wearing an elf costume next time. You’ve been warned.
😮
i absolutely love that motion city soundtrack album!! they're one of my favorite pop punk acts and i feel like they don't get nearly enough recognition. that and their debut i am the movie was in heavy rotation in my teen years lol. and if i was anywhere near the shop i'd for sure grab that alt-J, that pressing is so rad

Really enjoying this series. I already have that bandbox exclusive of motion city, but it arrived with a little scratch, and now bandbox is out of business. So it would be nice to have a new copy….
I'm out on the giveaway as I already own that record, but keep this videio series going please!
How is there not more swearing in these videos? 😂
I’d be fuming!! 😤
lots of editing
This is inspiring...I also need a diabolical friend to help me thin the collection 😆
See if Goose is for hire
🎶 Should I Stay or Should I Go 🎶 🎛🎤🥁🎸🎸🎛 The Clash 1981
This is a great series
I haven't really listened to Motion City Soundtrack..so it'd be neat to hear it for the first time on vinyl
whaaattt??? They're S tier.
Great video 👍
“Just on black vinyl” 😂 I enjoy coloured vinyl as much as anyone but it’s soooooo hard to see damage to the disc.
Also, Matt, I think your hat is inside out friend =)
i'm a style icon
First, you can never have too many copies of Awesome Wave…from one hoarder to another.

I just started the video and super excited on what he chooses
He's a monster
His Fat Pat choice was nasty
It's hard to say goodbye to great records no matter how many copies you have. We appreciate the sacrifice 🙏
All right all right all right
Purging is healthy. I’ve only kept the original and 30th anniversary edition of The Cult’s Sonic temple and (shameful blush) 6 different pressings/remastered of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular bells. Those I can not get rid of. They’re safe.
Love these videos. Hope to see in continue in to 2025.
The sound quality is frustrating but having a copy of the Sufjan Illinoise marvel collab would be a great piece for the story alone.
These Justify Your Collection videos are super entertaining! Well done. Goose should be nicer, though!
“Decimate my collection” 😊
If you are getting into country more then do yourself a favour and check out Corb Lund’s “Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier” it’s a masterpiece. I think he’s a modern Johnny Cash in all the most amazing ways - helps he was bass player for the Smalls.
I'd give the Alt-J a lovely home for the holidays. Its the least I could do
haha come through then!
Grateful Dead > Phish
Let s see if it s my lucky day.🎉
they were talking about how sad "A crow looked at me" is and I always think about how sad and heavy of a record Dirt is.... then he pulls out Dirt...
woah
A lot of records are definitely cool to own, as collectables and objets d’art. But ultimately they are meant to be played. I'd keep both of the ALT-J's.
And why, out of curiosity?
I'm big into the Dead but just can't get into Phish. Maybe if I saw a live show. I had a RSD copy of Billy but finally sold it.
phish is a live band for sure. and half the fun are/were the roadtrips and community
This would be hard....😅
I told you he would ruin your day! 😀
🦦🥬🪆
Getting rid of Alt-J is a sin.
Only one!
@ And a foil at that.. For shame.
noooooooo, the foil one is gone....
Get rid of the disintegration loops! I’ll pay for the shipping, it’s not a big deal. Imagine all the room it’ll make
no way! it's personally signed to me
Never can have too many, I'd rent "climate controlled" space if I had to! Maybe not!😮😊
All love, but just for the sake of discussion. For my corner of vinyl collecting, the variant collecting doesn’t seem like a relevant part of the hobby. First pressings are connected to the ”memorabilia” aspect of it, like history and the actual time period of the release. Pretty colours I don’t get. Get’s so far removed of the music itself.
Any Beatles you want to get rid of 😂?
Tons in the shop haha
Love this series....Goose isnt as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as your past pickers 😊 but he's doing a sterling job with his choices. Keep 'em coming
Welp. There goes the modeling career.
GOOSE IS A BEAUTIFUL MAN
