That was fun , I enjoyed that. Looking forward to ep 2. Blimey Goose is a ruthless one. You could hire him out as a purging service 😂. Great video guys! 👍👍
This is probably my most favorite video of yours. It shows us stuff in your collection that you wouldn’t think to show off, and it shows you going through the vulnerable wrestling we all have to do with our own collections. Trying to balance the love of music with the financial, spacial and emotional cost of potentially hoarding. It’s great to cull every now and then. Keep it up. I’ll watch these. Maybe you could have themed episodes, looking at one particular musical genre per episode, or even a single artist that you have lots of.
OMG that was disturbingly entertaining for some reason - probably because I have not seen Matt this anxious before? I can totally relate though and I feel the pain. An interesting twist to "improve" this segment (for everyone except Matt that is) would be for Goose to pull 10 records into a box and the rule is that Matt has to sell 1 of them (or maybe 1 out of 5 works out better?) Killer video you 2! 🧡
Love the throwback format of this video. I just enjoy seeing records so I would love to see more videos like this. Cool seeing Goose. I think it would be interesting having friends and loved ones challenge you to keep or sell pieces in your collection.
Fantastic new video, love seeing you and Goose interacting and a great way to showcase both the good and the "bad" of your amazing collection. Look forward to more of these!
Great segment and will create awesome gets for the locals. Perfect team to rib on one another too. Learn about the music you’re showcasing too. Keep it going!!
love this series -- it's a great way to showcase records that might not otherwise get seen while providing an opportunity to discuss the details and merits of various pressings. looking forward to the next segment!
This is a fun video and good timing for me. i just started selling some of my records that I don't think I'll listen to much. It's helpful to get a little window into someone else's process. Cool that you have a friend to help and have an opinion about releases and what you listen to.
Loved the part where Goose laid out the reasons that it was silly to own an AAA version of Dreams when you have the original. Top notch comedy there. My suggestion for the next one is make it a live stream. We can suggest where Goose should pull from. For instance I would have told him to visit your Of Montreal Hissing Fauna section. I’m guessing there are some variants to thin out there.
Boy, that takes some cojones to endure a segment like that, when it involves your own records! 🤣 Don’t know if I would have it in me to be put on the spot like that, kudos to you for doin’ it, Matt 😎🤘🏼
Your collection is so stacked. Wish I had a QUARTER of what you own. But I do agree, some of these can be let go 😂. For me, regarding the Avalanches, I would’ve gone with the blue vinyl just because it has the OG cover. Extra tracks on a deluxe is great, but for me, having that original cover is more my taste.
Super video Matt and Matt. Used to love the ones with Sandy back in the day. Gives a great insight into your collection. Damn It Matt, I have a serious urge to buy a record online now!
Keep the Avalanches Matt. it’s one of the best record ever as you well know. some records are off limits no matter how many copies. I like this segment, well done. happy thanksgiving man!
@ I think now over the couple of years you’ve really expanded your taste especially in the older stuff, I think that’ll be great to watch! Thanks for also introducing me to some some fantastic older stuff over the past couple of years ! 😃
What I love about record collecting is that you can look at someone else's collection and not recognize the majority of the artists. Yes, keeping the Peter Gabriel album was a solid choice.
that was fun! awesome! do more .. and do a follow up of the shootouts from the shop 😁 or maybe you wanna come over to my place and do the same with my collection.. 6k records waiting here.. i need to get rid of some.. well ok.. its germany.. so a bit far away, i guess 😅
The UK 2016 repress has the original version of Frontier Psychiatrist with the original samples. If that Blue has the same, it’s worth keeping because I know the box set has the re-recorded samples version
@@dandevvers Actually, unless I'm mistaken, the ONLY vinyl copy with the original samples of FP are on an early 12" single. I've done a ton of research.
@ I have the 4 disc reissue, a 2001 US press and the UK 2016. The only one that’s different is the UK one. Also, this is copied from the notes section of the UK 2016 press on Discogs (not sure if you can take it as gospel but it does tally up with what I’ve heard) “Sample notes: -Uses the ORIGINAL SAMPLES version of "Frontier Psychiatrist" FOOTNOTE The following is true for every vinyl pressing of "Since I Left You" (except the Rex Records test pressing): "Since I Left You" and "Live At Dominoes" do not contain the "younger than springtime" sample from Rodgers/Hammerstein. "Summer Crane" and "Extra Kings" do not contain the flute sample from War's "H2Overture" "Radio" does not contain the "Johnny!" dialogue at the beginning "Diners Only" does not contain the "good evening gentlemen" dialogue at the beginning”
@@dandevvers If you go to the comments of the 2016 it says samples are missing. There's so much misinformation about this song it's so hard to keep track lol
You must understand how many DJ Shadow records I own... and how many are signed. I used to frequent his LA record sales and meet him every year and get more stuff signed LOL
Sorry, most of the records in your collection seem to be either digital reissues or stuff that was issed in the last twenty years. My opinion is most of it is unnecessary and easily disposable?
I have 4000 records in my collection. This video barely touched on most of it. Also, many things mentioned in this video are AAA represses. It sounds like you didn't watch the video, but really felt compelled to make this comment. Disappointing.
@@TooManyRecords Most AAA represses are digital. Hardly anyone uses analogue mastering and transfer equipment. It's all BS to not alienate a large portion of the vinyl community?

Oh wow, a forced chopping block. You're a mad man!

For you, anything!!
😂

This is perfection. It's like watching an old married couple bickering! PS. Don't EVER let Goose touch your National albums!
IT WAS A JOKE OK! 😂
@ yeah…riiiiight
I like this series concept, so I'm looking forward to a lot more of these in the future.
Absolutely love the concept, man that would be so difficult to get through, I know I couldn't do it 😅.
Great video! Definitely inspired me to do some culling of my own collection

my weakest argument LOL

But a livestream version at some point would be fun.
Great segment. Really enjoyed it. I need to do that with my collection 👊

I think we will :)
You should expand this series to where Goose helps you make everyday decisions... like at the grocery store
I'll wear my insta cart lanyard.
LOL
I liked this video
Thanks Tony!!
Enjoyed this! Will you be doing videos like follow ups to best albums of the 60s, 70s, 80s, etc ?
I probably should, shouldn't I...

I'd hate for Goose to go through my collection, but I only have around 230.
Good segment. Keep them coming.
As a side note, the LED at the back is distracting 😂
Trying something new... I feel like so many UA-camrs use LED lights. Maybe because it moves so much? haha
It's Goose!
Hiiiii
Now you can make room for more metal records. Can't have too many metal vinyl

Don’t get rid of the avalanches.
Black Radio 3 is also an incredible record. Keep that.
What's the justification for keeping both the 4LP and the blue 2LP?
Black radio 3 is amazing. What you don't see is my argument to get the new release of it with all the extras
You still have The Disintegration Loops box set?
duh! Signed to me :)
That light is cool, were did you get it?
Pretty cool right?? I don't remember, some targeted ad lol
I need Goose to go through my collection.
For a nominal fee (plus travel and accomodations) ......
Or just a bowl of soup
That garbo vmp record sounds better than the Original. Keep it amd sell the OG
