This one was built back before Ruud and Rheem sold their souls to Mexico for manufacturing in the early 2000s. Sure has been a noticeable drop in quality since they purposely stopped sourcing reliable parts and building their machines in the USA. None of the new equipment will last this long. My Rheem 90+ furnace from the 90s is still kicking (knock on wood). Still has most of it's original parts in it. Thanks for the video. Stay safe and warm out there. Hope you and Miss Molly enjoy the holidays.
I read from a few sources in HVAC that 3 in one oil is non detergent 20w oil which is what most electric motors use for bearing lubrication. I then confirmed with an electric fan rebuild shop that they use 3 in one oil to restore all of the fan motors they work on and that manufactures from the old days recommended non detergent 20 w to lube bushings/bearings on small electric motors. I agree because I had used "spray lube" on a few older motors but it doesn't last long. Once I switched over to that 3 in one in the little bottle, I haven't had to lube them for years. If I had a condensate blower motor furnace, I would do exactly the same thing that Steve did for this customer only I'd have used that 3 in one oil and each year. Those blower motors have crap for bearings it seems because I sure see many of them failing and its usually the bearings that fail, nothing else. $400 for a blower motor assembly or lube it ? I'd use the lube it option first.
@@jeeperguy4290 Some of them for sure. I made the same statement about "bushings" in those blowers are had a ton of HVAC comments that they were bearings. Even if they are, they aren't sealed bearings if you look closely so, that would explain failure rates.
Or you could have just replaced the inducer motor for her. Its gonna squeal again in few days until you get a new inducer. Its obvious. Other than that it seems to be in great shape and its should last a while.
Trane makes furnaces in New Jersey and Carrier still makes them in Indianapolis (although they moved fan coil production to Mexico). The electronic controls are still made in Mexico, but the metal cabinet, blower wheel, and heat exchangers are American made.
Looks like that furnace is actually in fair condition.
New exhaust fan is like $50
My mom's furnace built 1980 nosiy but easy to repair she still runs !
Howdy Steve and Miss Molly. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
Stevie back in 3 days is that thing's going to make more noise
26 year old furnace needs a little drink every now and again
Furnaces aren't alone in that ether. Some of us older human beings rely on the coffee and energy drinks quite a bit, to get us going.
Helping out a damsel in distress You are a good man

☝️ Their old rectangle condensers were great units. Any equipment these days won’t last in comparison to older generation stuff.
@@SkilledLabor Very true.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to You and Miss Molly

They are probably bushings, not bearings

🎄Merry Christmas Steve & Miss Molly🎄
Merry Christmas Steven!
Merry Christmas, Steve.
How much you tell’er Steve? Cmon man that’s what we want to know.
I'm hoping my wood stove makes my 2004 oil fired boiler last forever. We only use it for hot water and heat on super cold days.
Was hoping he didnt mute the estimate he gave. Would of gotten a shit load of comments probably. Lol
28 years old going on 29 next week.
I try to add a coil box for future A/C if you have the space in the supply plenum
Just had to replace my Rudd furnace from 1997. It’s like night and day.
The money she’s putting into that furnace she can get a new one
I am still running my Rudd, and will keep running it till the heat exchanger cracks. New ones dont last long.
28 years old
Right...sometimes we lose track of the present year...Time plays by as we get older...
How has your box van been working out for you?
Thanks for sharing.
Date of manufacture is Nov. 1996.
It's a Ruud being rude!
Smurf jism you are killing me Steve 🤣🤣🤣 Merry Christmas sir
My 30 year old Bryant is still running!
Kick the can down the road again. Hi to Miss Molly
lol, yeah the only silicone you should use in an old folks home is tub and tile caulking.
Or you could have just replaced the inducer motor for her. Its gonna squeal again in few days until you get a new inducer. Its obvious.

Once you here that noise you have one chance to lube . But you got about 2weeks before it comes back.. Replace It.. ..
A pile of rudd, Steve
Hello Steve!
Kroil is the best stuff on the market! 👍🏻
Thx. She's a squealer for sure.
Jism juice how ya doin special
$4500.00 90 thousand BTU installed!!
In Michigan?
A lesser man wouldn't have fixed this. They would have sold her a new unit, there and then.
Made in the USA...You do not see that too often anymore

She is a noisy one.
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again ya’ll. 👍👍
