I live a 20 minute bus ride from there and I still avoid it. It's a good novelty for the first time though, I'd definently have fun if I was showing someone from my home town around in there.

What you witnessed on Whyte Ave at the end of the vlog where those girls were wearing pretty much nothing in -20 weather is actually one of the most Edmonton things you will see! Girls have some serious dedication in this city to go bar hoping in the winter xD
I’ve grown up in North edmonton 97th street area, and after school (which was downtown) we would always bus to west edmonton mall, it’s so weird to see that this mall is crazy to some people because it was so normal for us we never even stopped to think “We’re in the largest mall in the continent where people come across the world to see”.

Cool fact about edmonton you don’t hear a lot: the reason the skyline / buildings are shorter than most other big Canadian cities is because of the Edmonton City Centre Airport that opened in 1927. It was closed down a few years ago for multiple reasons and super tall skyscrapers have been built since then but the city had a height limit for the longest time so planes could takeoff and land safely.
I'm from Edmonton and my son made friends with a kid who's family just moved here from Texas. They adapted quite well and I couldn't even tell it was their first winter here. I actually love hearing them tell me about Texas! Do you actually bring coolers to the grocery store to keep the food in on the ride home??? lol Love the accents too!

There is a challenge amongst high school kids in Calgary called the bishop Carrol challenge (named after the self learning based school where you learn at your pace. Just for information you sign in and out with your pass so the teachers know you were at school for the day) where you sign in, drive to west ed, take a selfie on the roller coaster, then drive back. If you make it back in school in time for check out you win, if you don't.... well you get caught ditching.
