Used to always listen to Upfront back in the day. I turned 13 in '98. I'm sure that's my shout at the end (43:30) although it was supposed to be beddington park crew lol. I had this recorded on cassette
I turned 18 in 98 and was me that taped this at my Friend's flat in Mitcham. I travelled up from Brighton to get my these recordings. Check out my profile for more like this. Plus I'm soon starting a new channel with more 90s dance stations including Brighton ones too.
@@SoulDamnFunky I am sure I remember this day, my mum had told me to go home to do chores. When I got home, turned on 993 but there was nothing on at all - no static just dead silence. So I left it on and kept checking. I pressed record and then called in once I got the number. Mitcham isnt far from where I was, I was in Beddington. Brighton was a bit of a trek but we managed to do it in about 20 minutes one day ;)
I was born in late '97 and American here, but stories like this fuel me, haha. The '80s and especially '90s era is something I'm inexplicably in love with and nostalgic for despite growing up at the tail end of that vibe. Wish I could go back in time to experience more of what made that time so great, especially given the often depressing and scary state of the world over the past couple years. Hope you're all doing well to this day, and thanks for sharing your stories of times past!
This was a wicked set from the one like the original Dj Risky. He was a wicked Garage dj. This set may have been recorded late 1997 or early jan/feb 1998
Yes Redlock! I remember listening to your sets back in the day, they were always for the UKG connoisseur, playing the more underground and less commercial tracks like this. Won a couple of mix CD's from you too which I still have :)
Please someone help with this. I’ve been looking for an MC for 20 years. Lyric he had “I don’t even wanna hear no backchat, put your arse out of line and I’ll slap that” He was so sick. Anyone!?!?
Nice question . I'm thinking. .. why does that sound so familiar? ? Pirate radio??? Lush fm. I think I know him. . Sounds like something Scandal would say.
@@DJLNR. if you’ve got any links mate. Please send. Another one of his “Woke up this morning with this girl next to me, looked at her face she was minging ugly,” 😂
Banger after banger after banger.

Tony P that’s fucking cool. I’m only 15 and not from around London but this music is pure
Nice! I turned 15 in '98 and lived 40 miles outside London - getting hold of a London pirate radio tape was like winning the lottery
