Ngl, when I saw Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door at the top of the list, a big smile came across my face. Thousand Year Door is my favorite Mario RPG, and I was super excited when Nintendo announced its remake. The story, the characters, the gameplay. All of it is really good. Thousand Year Door was my favorite game on the GameCube, and it's remake, my favorite Switch game. Glad to see it's getting the respect that I believe the game deserves. 😊
My ranking of all I've played so far. Played all Paper Mario's around release, whereas I'm tryna catch up with all the others rn. Missing Paper Jam, Bowser's Inside Story, and Sparks of Hope. Partners in Time is my favorite Mario RPG, it’s the best of that series. Bowsers inside Story is overrated in my opinion. I would put thousand year door at number 2 and superstar saga at number 3.
Honestly, the Mario+Rabbids games for me and friends are some of the best RPGs on the switch. Also I feel like the original was way better and sparks of hope just lacked everything

Dream Team 8. Super Mario RPG SMRPG in last is probably a massive hot take, but as someone who never played it until the remake last year, I still enjoyed it but it just felt kinda basic
I know this is your own personal list. But I think your being too harsh on the Mario + Rabbids games and the fact you put them in the bottom 10 is criminal. You complaint it's an Tactical Strategy RPG and doesn't match well. I call that BS. It ain't Turned-based. Sure. But it doesn't have to be and for what it does works well enough. It's not depth. But it ain't boring. Also there are plenty of Tactical RPG series that wasn't just being copy paste to Fire Emblem & Xcom. Like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactical Orges, Advance Wars, etc. I'm sorry. But your opinion rubs me the wrong way.
While I just finished Paper Mario: TTYD remaster for the Switch, I don't feel it's the best Mario RPG game. It's heavily reliant on badges and that's the only way you can increase Mario's attack power and defense. You have no stats. So, you don't know exactly how much better they are and in boss battles and stronger baddy battles (especially in the Pit of 100 Trials), your Defense Badges and Attack badges don't do dick all. At least in Super Mario RPG and the Mario & Luigi series, you could upgrade the gear of your characters and then that upped your stats. Then, when you levelled up, all stats increased and then you got a little bit more when you could add more stats to increase. Improving the Mario and Luigi's overalls and boots in the Mario & Luigi series has always been great. Badges only add to the Mario & Luigi series, but they aren't completely reliant on the badges. It also sucked when you could only gain 3 more badge points at a time and you had to select between HP, FP and BP and then you STILL couldn't equip some of your badges because some of them were outright expensive. Which also sucked. I wound up mostly increasing my BP, just so that I could up my HP and FP with HP and FP increasing badges. Honestly, I go like this: Mario & Luigi series > Paper Mario series > Super Mario RPG and its remaster for the Switch. With that being said, I hope M&L: Brothership turns out to be the best M&L game ever made! Bringing back Bros. Attacks where Mario & Luigi use each other and using items as well, is pretty cool! I love the mix up! They haven't used Bros. Attacks where they use each other since Superstar Saga and its remaster for the 3DS. So, that's a very welcome return. I have no problem with items being used as well. That was great. I would also love the return of the elemental attacks Mario & Luigi had in M&L: SS. I love how Mario said "Fire" and Luigi said, "Thunderrrrrr!" I don't think those will remain exclusive to M&L: SS, though. I would also like to see the return of switching the lead between Mario and Luigi. I loved it when Luigi whacked Mario and he shrunk down to a tiny size and so that he could fit through tiny doorways and then when Mario whacked Luigi, he was sent underground and could unearth coins and beans. Honestly, that game had the most mechanics in it. I loved also loved having 4 playable characters in M&L: PIT. Ever since that, I've dreamed of having another 4 playable character game with Mario and Luigi teaming up with Wario and Waluigi. The game would have a wizard as the main villain and in his castle, there would be lots of treasure. Mario and Luigi would have a battle with Wario and Waluigi and after the battle, Mario lets slip of the treasures and that's when Wario and Waluigi join Mario and Luigi. Due to Wario's greedy nature and Waluigi being Wario's best friend. There would be treasures scattered throughout the game, but the most would be in the castle of the wizard. If they can do Triple attacks with Paper Mario in M&L: PJ, they can due Triple and Quadruple Attacks in a game with Mario, Luigi, Wario and Waluigi. Wario would be assigned to the X Button and Waluigi would be assigned to the Y button like Baby Mario was assigned to the X button and Baby Luigi was assigned to the Y button in M&L: PIT. Also, Wario should have his charge attack like he had in the Wario Land series. However, he and Waluigi can also have a set of hammers. The charge attack would just bust through breakable objects, etc.
@kingpotato1442 I'll accept that compliment, only if you change the word "bro" to "dude." The word "bro" is insanely heavily overused, and it drives me nuts!
It'll be incredibly hard to top Inside Story since it's essentially perfect in almost everyway so I'm just hoping it won't be another disaster like paper jam
@@noone-kk2zs Paper Jam was not a disaster. It was a lot of fun! I have enjoyed at Mario & Luigi games! I love how they are doing both the Mario & Luigi using each other for Bros. Attacks and using items! They haven't used each other for the Bros. Attacks since Mario & Luigi: SS!
@Number1SethRollinsFan The way you complaint about badges in Paper Mario is baloney. That's what makes it so good. Without that, the series wouldn't be an RPG'S. And it's not just increased stats, it also gives you more variety of movesets & abilities for your accessibility. Same with Super Mario RPG and Mario & Luigi on how they handled accessories.
Way to harsh on the Mario and rabbid games. I think tactical RPGs are wayyyyyy more interesting and complex. I really miss Super Mario RPG as the original and remake. I also wish Mallow and Geno were no longer major characters appearing in the game only. Yes, I really like how the appear in the original and of course the remake, but I wish there were some or even many other games returning them majorly. They had such an awesome adventure with Mario, Bowser, and Peach. May the world please tell me they will be seen seeing them majorly again as much as I admit the remake of the very old, but very nostalgic Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was very awesome?
The problem is that the original characters of the game are all owned by Square Enix as the game was developed by them. It's not that Nintendo doesn't want to use them, they legally can't
@@biondigiacomo7176 Hmm sure. I guess I will keep this in mind, but still, no offense to you, I read your word carefully, but I am still never ever giving up on Mallow and Geno. @@aaronferguson3169 I do not want to get your hopes down (I mean the fact that we even got a remake of Super Mario RPG is a very positive thing), but it was the reason why Nintendo couldn't use them. But I too hope of them coming back in some way.
Mario RPG is my favorite rpg because it has so many wacky characters and enemy designs. Felt like the most visually creative. Thousand Year Door a close second, the character designs are mostly a bit too close to the Mario style and playing it a bit safe in that respect, though the Shadow Queen was a cool design and they didn't just play it safe with her. Super Paper Mario went further in "not playing it safe" with keeping it in mario's style but that's an example of for the worse rather than better like Mario RPG did. Many of the characters felt like they didn't really fit in with Mario's style if you ask me, but Mario RPG's characters, while being unique still looked like characters in a mario game. I can imagine why someone might prefer Thousand Year Door, even I prefer it in some respects even though I overall prefer Mario RPG. But the original Paper Mario over Mario RPG?? How? What does it even have? I mean, it's cute but it has nothing of its own just the usual nintendo characters which is inexcusably bland. Even uses bowser as the main villain. I think the majority of the Mario & Luigi games, Thousand Year Door and Mario RPG blow it out of the water.
Mario plus rabbids kingdom battle is my favorite mario game ever. Putting it on 11 is just absurd ( I respect your opinion though) PS - the only mario RPGs I have played are both mario plus rabbids and I am about to play Paper mario TTYD
Im one who actually agrees with the Super Mario RPG ranking, the game was good, and i really enjoyed the characters, (mostly Gino), but plot and story was a little lackluster for me. It feels like you just get introduced to some characters without knowing who they really are. Then, there's the classing mario rpg story of collecting seven stars in seven different worlds, which is fine, but there isn't much mystery about what happens and what you're supposed to do. The game is still good and was astounding for its time, but I don't think it had enough of what makes a mario rpg so good
Starting from Origami king every game is good, starting from dream team every game is realy good, starting with super paper mario every game is a 11/10
The amount of people sleeping on the Mario plus Rabbids games is massive. the first game is one of my favorites with the second being my favorite game ever on switch Ngl. The battles are always different and the characters look cool. Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope being the first game I ever 100%.

“I wanted to put Bowser’s Inside Story at number one because it’s my personal favorite “. Ok. So why didn’t you?

5. The Origami King
6. Kingdom Battle
7. Dream Team
8. Super Mario RPG
SMRPG in last is probably a massive hot take, but as someone who never played it until the remake last year, I still enjoyed it but it just felt kinda basic
Kingdom battle is goated but Sparks of Hope sucks
@Dora-xi5ob OK. Why you don't like Sparks of Hope?
@jaretco6423 it's rage bait. He's posting in on every comment.
Cool idea bro 😊
(I also kinda don’t considered an RPG in the first place) If you do consider it an RPG tho it has much more strategy I feel then pressing a singular button half the time. The games should be at the top of the list
Kingdom battle is goated but Sparks of Hope sucks
The paper mario games are not rpgs their adventure games they don't have enough rpg elements to pass for an rpg.
I didn't care for Mario & Rabbids as someone who plays tactics RPGs, but it would have been cool if you described the qualities the game *does* have beyond solely its identity as a TRPG. (It felt more like a critique of TRPGs in general than a Mario & Rabbids critique)
Anyway, I'm playing Mario RPG for the first time and I'm very excited to play TTYD and the upcoming Mario & Luigi Brothership later this year!! :0

@@biondigiacomo7176 I know the next future will be awesome with its next exciting and interesting surprises. I know we will see what happens. @@DORAisD34Dboth are great
I loved Paper Jam tbh
