My only problem with Cloud Kingdom is that it wasn't elaborated into a full kingdom. I always loved the sky theme in the previous games. Even Rainbow Ride was fun if you forgive it for being an autoscroller. Cloud Kingdom was just a boss arena and that's it. I can see the devs thinking that Bowser's Kingdom handle's the sky theme element, but I feel like it would've handled it better if you had to platform between the islands in story mode rather than using the spark pylons to jump from island to island. It also would've made the space between the islands seem more purposeful.
As a fellow Sunshine appreciator I’d say Corona is my least favorite, the whole thing is super uninteresting and really exemplifies how rushed Sunshine was. The poison river level is honestly really fun once you’re good at the game and have a handle on the physics.
I used to agree that dire dire docks sucked the most in 64, but then I tried to get the red coins before the poles coming in. Crazy enough, it's possible, and super fun

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Level design can be really good when a level is hard. If you struggle with it the easier levels should be practiced more before you go to a harder level. A bad level will be unfair, not hard but its the worst when its unfair and hard. Most of the levels he mentions as bad are not worthy of this. Most of all, a level is also bad if it is boring and uninteresting as well when compared to the rest of the game and its mechanics
I agree with almost every choice in this list, except for the worst Super Mario Bros. level. I don't know what my worst is, but 8-3 is probably my second favorite level in the game.

Ok sorry but I’m confused. How is dreadnaught galaxy bad by a gameplay perspective? The lasers and yellow electrical platforms and the top men and their bouncy mechanics makes for unique and well designed areas that give you lots to avoid and play around with. It’s also basically just a better version of battle rock galaxy. I’ve never understood dreadnaught hate cause I think it’s one of the best galaxies in the game, hell there’s galaxies in the same world that are worse like deep dark. Or you could point to the awful manta ray levels. Awful take. Edit: how is cloud kingdom not a bad kingdom to yall tho? There’s literally almost nothing there, no memorable design, no challenge, literally nothing special about it other than a boss fight. Sheesh.
You think Super Mario Sunshine is the best 3D Mario game? I think it's one of, if not the worst. It's just frustrating or simply not fun at times. But yeah, Mario 64 was a freaking Classic, and basically laid down the blueprint for 3D platformers. The Galaxy games were both incredible, and for the love of God, what about Mario Odyssey?! I don't know. Maybe it's because I didn't play Sunshine as a kid(despite my little brother having it. I suppose I was too absorbed in drugs and girls at that point unfortunately), but I just didn't like it.
@JamieCousins-jy4nr I'm not exactly sure, but as I said, I didn't play it at the time it came out, which can sour one's experience. Part of it was that at times it seemed hard. Like too hard(especially for a Mario game.) I think the controls, combined with my hatred of the GameCube controller(despite many people loving it, though I think a lot of that has to do with Smash Bros) made it frustrating at times, especially when you're jumping on and off of tiny platforms(like the steal beams in that boat/marina area), often with a great, "Only Up" style penalty. I also didn't really love the Spray Master 5000(or whatever it was called), especially as a mechanic that the game heavily focuses on. I dunno, I just didn't love it. Not exactly sure why. Not saying it's a bad game, but compared to the Galaxy games, and especially Odyssey, which is such a big, creative game with so much to do, even after you beat the game, I think it is inferior. As for Mario 64, it's probably the "worst" 3D Mario game if we're not taking the era or technology available at the time into account. But if we do do that, and also take into account in the nostalgia, how groundbreaking it was, how many hours I spent playing it, how cool it was to see Mario in the third dimension, and how it felt like a major turning point in gaming, thinking that everything is going to be in 3D now, and eventually VR, or whatever other technology we couldn't even imagine at the time but still felt like it was right around the corner, etc., then yeah, Mario 64 was freaking awesome(that damn camera though! Lol.)
I like how almost all of their problems and complaints about the last games were all solved in Wonder. New enemies, the new art style (like how he liked the Starry Night level), cool bosses, amazing level design. Idk how Wonder isn’t their favorite or best game. I think it easily takes the cake
