Very nicely done video by allowing us to hear the motor rather than the constant drone of a sales person. It's also great to see a car who's parts were likely produced in a plant my dad and grandfather could've had a hand in making. Thank you for this video :)
Today's performance cars are great... All that technology. But it ain't the same as old school. Yeah the new cars may run circles around the old but you'll NEVER have the same experience/feel of old school power and sound. Those pushrod motors are pure ALPHA compared to the new electronic BS
I gotta beg to differ. The old school classics have a great look and feel, sure, but the newer ones are absolute rocket ships. It's almost apples to oranges. Plus, ngl, if I get in a wreck in a new school, I know there's a chance I'll survive. So old schools for the look and sound, new schools for out and out power and handling. Personal opinion.
I could nearly agree....but having had both it is a no. When younger I had a Torana SLR 5000 (Australian muscle car...sort of a Camaro equivalent) with a 400hp 327 and 4sp....thought it was the most awesome thing ever. I now drive an Audi B7 RS4 (manual 6sp) and there is simply no comparison...I would feel I was driving a death trap if I stepped back into the Torana.....would be a cool cruising car and not much more now. In the end there is no substitute for good brakes, grip and handling.....and the sound of an NA V8 pulling 8000rpm through the gears...well?! Have to say I would have this beautiful thing in a flash though......just gorgeous.
i can imagine what fun it must be enjoying that big block sound on those english roads THANKS i went for a ride i have been living in greece now for 20 years i had a 68 chevelle back in high school in 1978 you brought back memories MAN your a lucky guy
Would have loved to see the raw power unleashed just one time during the entire video, man has a healthy respect for the power, or scared to let all those ponies run wild!
Looks like a lot of loose steering, on some of those corners you can see the steering wheel almost go half the way around to make a easy turn. Probably me, my eyes are getting old lol. Nice car, sounds like a big block should.
Mine has about 5 1/2 turns lock to lock which explains the large steering input, this car has power steering though, mine doesn't which makes it very hard to drive.
My buddies I gee up with had the same 68 in Connecticut... maroon with white z-28 hood.. muncie slap stick shifter.. originally a 400-6pack... then my buddy bought it off other bud, dropped a beefed up 454 dual quads.. that car laid rubber in every gear.. my re-memory may not be exact.. I remember him dropping the clutch at 5 grand... he did a 4 town chase with the police with two people in it... anyway... the car in video brought back some freaking good memories...
there is no sexier sound than a built 427. I used to think my 92 Camaro with a 400sb sounded sexy until a 69' with a 427ci idled by me and made my car sound like a peasant. much respect to the owner of this
Now that’s a “sled” a rocket sled, great color combo and who doesn’t get drooling when you hear L88 backed up by a rock crusher M22, definitely a quick little pony car
425bhp it's the big daddy of the classic camaros, COPO I believe. Insane power for a car from the 60s must light the rear wheels up like christmas trees.
L88 put out 430 hp at 5200 rpm, rated that way for insurance purposes. With headers and a good tune they actually put out 540-560 hp at around 6600-6700 rpm. I have one in a '65 Chevelle I built, with updated heads and a solid roller cam it puts out around 580-590 hp. They're beasts, any way you look at it. The COPO Camaros usually had the 450 hp (true rating) L72 in them, or (very rarely) the all aluminum ZL1, which put out identical power to the L88.
My first car was a 68 Camaro SS. My dad bought it wrecked for me when I was 15 and my brother in law and I put an engine in it, fixed the body and painted it. Would love to build another one.
I really can never put into words how much I love and appreciate these videos. It’s taken while but I’m close to the 67 Shelby. These videos definitely tide me over until the day I get her home. ❤

Very nicely done video by allowing us to hear the motor rather than the constant drone of a sales person. It's also great to see a car who's parts were likely produced in a plant my dad and grandfather could've had a hand in making. Thank you for this video :)
Thank you for your kind words appreciate it! :)
Very clean and very nice………. Thanks for the virtual ride'
That’s a nice one love the color
Thank you!
Not in my wildest dreams! A million thumbs up!
My 68 Firebird got nervous watching a family member cruising on the other side of the road. I might explain it later.
Dont tell her yet she’ll learn one day
I love the sound when they are just sitting idling these cars had power
Today's performance cars are great... All that technology. But it ain't the same as old school. Yeah the new cars may run circles around the old but you'll NEVER have the same experience/feel of old school power and sound. Those pushrod motors are pure ALPHA compared to the new electronic BS
What does pushrod have to do with electronics? The newer motors are still pushrod.
Blk 11s matter!! About 200ft worth.
Depends. A bunch of idiots driving performance cars versus a good driver in an old school hot rod could punk alot of tech stuff.
Cool to see people across the pond like our classics too.
We love them! It's what we specialise in at Retro Classic Car :)
When they absolutely knew how to build a car
Agreed!
I love this sh*t! !! The sound, the shifting, and especially the torque! Excellent stuff, guys!
Gotta be Ireland or Britain, proves even europeans love American Muscle ! We knew you would ! 😃
England yes! We love them over here also 😎
@@RetroClassicCar hell yeah brother. Y’all got great taste when it comes to cars and music!
Plenty of American muscle here in Australia as well, but also plenty of our own :)
How to resist?
I from norway and the muscle car culture are huge! Everyone loves muscle cars here.
the camaro is just beautiful and the sound is just magical
Thanks!
The best video of a 1968 camaro I ever saw. Thanks dude
Now that's what I call Covid Relief!
i can imagine what fun it must be enjoying that big block sound on those english roads THANKS i went for a ride i have been living in greece now for 20 years i had a 68 chevelle back in high school in 1978 you brought back memories MAN your a lucky guy
Gotta love how quick the old engine fire up. These computer engines these days take forever lol.
the sound of one fine auto , music to my ears , must be across the pond
Nice car. I would be leary of slow-moving farm equipment crossing the road while you are cruising through the country side.
This has to be the most beautiful car I have ever seen. Amazing paint job.
Wow, thanks appreciate your kind words ! :)
this is a life i want, cruising with this car on the road music on it not so loud, cigar in a hand and few beer cans.
Would have loved to see the raw power unleashed just one time during the entire video, man has a healthy respect for the power, or scared to let all those ponies run wild!
In an L88 engine, probably a little of both!
My dream classic. If not my dream car. Just a beautiful piece of work
Looks like a lot of loose steering, on some of those corners you can see the steering wheel almost go half the way around to make a easy turn. Probably me, my eyes are getting old lol. Nice car, sounds like a big block should.
I think it's just the field of view, I noticed that also. I doubt that the steering gear is loose. It probably has manual steering.
Man those old cars have horrible steering, suspension, and brakes. Just part of the experience.
Omg I had to watch this ride along with my PSVR head set and head phones.Omg I felt I was in the car with him.💦 all over myself.Best ride ever!
there is no sexier sound than a built 427. I used to think my 92 Camaro with a 400sb sounded sexy until a 69' with a 427ci idled by me and made my car sound like a peasant. much respect to the owner of this
It sounds too loud, but looks beautiful! 😄
Now that’s a “sled” a rocket sled, great color combo and who doesn’t get drooling when you hear L88 backed up by a rock crusher M22, definitely a quick little pony car
That’s a Beautiful ride :) how much Horsepower?
620 i’m pretty sure
No way 600.I would say 450
Would love to build another one.
my dream car but everything black 😭
what a car.... what a sound.... what an interior.... what an engine....
the old iron block chevy !!!...when theyre cammed, they have that sweeet sound, the newer LS/LT engines cant match......i dont know why......
Oh my ....we need to bring back the muscle car era!!!!! This is SO COOL!
I really can never put into words how much I love and appreciate these videos. It’s taken while but I’m close to the 67 Shelby. These videos definitely tide me over until the day I get her home. ❤
Beautiful car and that 427 has such a great throaty exhaust note! Sounds like a real beast.
