This feels like an indirect, unintended jab at 95% of all the BJJ guys I’ve ever grappled in their standup game lol
It is unfortunate but guys who only do bjj usually have no idea what to do when standing.
@@MutedAggression Well majority of them have one idea - pull guard.
Totally. And then brag because the judo guy couldn't throw them... When I find myself in that situation I have to let go because if they are stiff and I have to be forceful to throw, they'll likely be stiff to land and end up hurt.
Majority of bjj stand up is just shitty wrestling
@@steveo1983 everytime!!! You’re supposed to be SO good that you can throw them while they’re going back and trying to pull guard.
thanks for the tips. I just started judo and the “arms attack first” tip I think will be a lot of help for me.
It’s a total game changer for kuzushi. I’m a white belt just getting these things into my muscle memory.
its for real the most common mistake using legs first
You once made a video on Judo systems. You showed 3 moves to use together. I’d love a second video expanding on this. Like what should I add to the system next? How to improve it?
Amazingly simple! All obvious when you think about it but not always explicitly taught. 👍🥋🙏
These details are game changers for most beginners. Love it
This is great for all levels all the time. It’s easy during Randori to forget the very basics. Calm controlled explosive action. Doesn’t hurt to have a plan going in either. Create the opening you want. I’ve had alot of success with that concept. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!
love your content, please keep making more
brother has the best content 💪🏼
All these are super important, #2 I dont think many new people even get that close in since they arent grip fighting for position. And #3 is REALLY important, I've witnessed broken wrists and I personally had a rib injury and when I came back to judo it still hurt but when I learned proper breakfalling I never felt rib pain again
Thank you sensei!
good stuff, but what I found with my "student" (6yo boy) it is better to focus on correct, rather "this is wrong". And for especially kids, its really hard to make it all in one go. They (kids) need to lets do hands. lets do steps, lets do move, and after after lets try to combine all this.
Iv always wondered why do you never see kids doing bjj?
@@steve00alt70 maybe because usually bjj is quite expensive, so parents aren't too happy to pay a monthly fee that can reach up to 100$ for each child, while judo is way cheaper even for adults and some school have wrestling teams, which are even cheaper
Excellent
Like any combat sport, you need to be loose and able to move
You will be much more effective and less chance of injury to yourself and your opponent
Great Video for beginners, but everyone should watch, as bad habits come with complacency
i practice bjj and muay thai and i definitely make these mistakes when grappling, thanks a lot
You’re the best!…
Yeah breakfalls are key. I went to seperate classes for this to get better. And become calmer on the floor. Still way too tense.
Thanks
I had a female friend who took a throw from a much bigger heavier man, she knew how to fall but he had very little control and used way to much power. Her entire arm turned green, bruised for like a month
Whats!? Do you remember what that throw was and where was she thrown (what kind of surface)
@@jestfullgremblim8002 it was a normal padded mat not super thick but soft enough. She told me the story after it happened cause I missed that practice but idr the throw
Flub at the end means he knows two other things I'm doing wrong but also knows I can't process hearing all of it at once.
Would you mind to make some videos talking about techniques to counter opponents with stiff arms or very defensive stance?
But do you want it for Kodokan Judo? You know, Olympic Judo won't let you be too stiff and defensive... it also is very different if you're doing BJJ or Kosen Judo.
Great video
Next time you should tell us about 3 judo mistakes that people do in street fights.
Number one: not using it
Number 1 : fighting in the street
Tip #2 probably summarized every leg attack that I have done and why they don’t work haha
🤙🏻
When you’re loose and your opponent is super tight and stiff I get stuck sometimes
I think "hands first" is potentially confusing for beginners. In almost all attacks you first take one entry step forward so you have a stable stance, then you off balance using your hands and then you finish the throw using your legs (and rest of your body). Pulling before taking your entry step results in weak kuzushi and off balancing yourself instead.
why is his black belt a bit whitish?
It's just worn out. It'll happen if you had your black belt for a while (also depends on the materials)
I once had a Shotokan sensei who had his for over I'd say 30-40 years and it looked mostly white with black spots because of how worn it was, there was so little of the black left in it
Black belts turn white with time, and white belts turn black 😅
Yeah, there's a certain pride you take in it. A year after I got mine in karate, it was starting to fade to a light grey with some white at and around the folds of the knot. I had a taekwon-do teacher as a kid who framed his first black belt, which was almost totally grey and only hanging together by a couple of thick threads.
Materials also impact how long it takes. Of my two karate sensei, one has a silk belt that still looks new after several years, and the other one has a cotton belt that started to fade out hard after a year or two, but neither have any real sign of structural wear.
6th-8th dan wear red and white. 1st-5th dan wear black.
One: Starting with Judo in the first place.
Today i loss because of 2nd mistake
I think everyone should have a phrase that helps you snap out of it and concentrate…..
Mine is ‘notice me senpai’
Lmao. But what do you mean with that? Having someone to say it so you remember to concentrate, or saying it yourself? Because it would be hard to say your phrase yourself if you need to "snap out of it" because you can't concentrate on the first place.
@@jestfullgremblim8002 to yourself, and it could be short maybe even an expression like 'heh'
Apocalypse 22:13 JESUS IS GOD❤
2:05 "5 mistakes", but only 3 shown in video.
There are no shortcuts in budo.
Did you not see the 3* ?
He showed a 3* on the low center of the screen.
