  • One of my favorite combinations at the moment. It is a really smooth attack, especially if you have nice, long legs (which I don't).

I love elegant footsweeps, but deashi is one leg; okuri is both legs.

Okuriashiharai is the throwing to the side. Hitting uke's foot from the side.
Harai tsurikomi ashi hits uke's foot from front
both nage waza are related and sometimes it is mere academically to call it this or that.

and than, if deashi fails, we can continue it with osoto gari or osoto guruma.

Yes, and if it is done sweeping forward - not across - it's a harai-tsuri-komi-ashi. That's why you put your foot like sasae-tsuri-komi-ashi.

Wouldn't pushing one foot into the other be more of an Okuriashi harai?

"It's almost like a saesai tsuri komi ashi" that's because it's a harai tsuri komi ashi. Not a deashi at all. Deashi is advancing foot sweet. Uki is clearly retreating on this throw.

legal, mas para exame não da pra apresentar como kaeshi-waza, é preciso ser mais "elegante" e tambem o harai-tsuri-komi-ashi é preciso mudar a pegada. Se alguem tiver um video melhor, poem como resposta ai. Rei-ho :D
cool, but not for examination to the present as kaeshi-waza, you need to be more "elegant" and also harai-tsuri-komi-ashi is necessary to change the footprint. If anyone has a video better, put an answer there. Rei-ho: D

I am a judo white belt. I just pulled this on a bjj purple belt today. She still won the roll but she definitely wanted to know that sweep.
