Anime Expo was held that weekend, and it can draw over 100,000 people to the event, and people are always looking for things to do that weekend after the con. Anime is Japanese, and the Dodgers have a Japanese superstar and a Japanese pitcher. The money would flow right out.

People don't realize it but, this is, yet again, Hololive and Cover Corp, paving the way for Vtubers future growth. Vtubers right now are still a niche thing, you'll only see them at anime expo and orther similar conventions, or game conventions etc. On gaming streams or youtube, but you wouldn't expect them to break into something like the Dodgers MLB stadium. This is just Hololive and Cover Corps trying out, to make their talents (Vtubers) to grow out of the gaming/anime contextual world, and this will create a movement for Vtubers, from all agencies to try something similar too
Basically, Hololive is again a pioneer. They are walking, so that others Vtubers, and their agencies, can run. Without Hololive, Vtubing would had maybe still unknown even to us fans of now!

Honestly, this didn't happen over night. Several factors had to happen: over-indulgence of legacy media in manipulation, antagonistism of companies to the core fanbase and the manufacturing of strange, yet similar stories that seems like they're copies of each other but was made by different companies. There are more but the gist of it is, the people found their way to new entertainment. All the new entertainment had to do was to niche into something and people came around. This goes not just for vtubers but also streamers as well. There's a massive hole left by western media and it's now up for grabs. Cut a piece of that pie and grow. Now's the time.

It makes sense Hololive would do this, and same for the Dodgers. Thanks to Ohtani the Dodgers have a large fan base in Japan, every single one of their games is broadcasted over there, they have Japanese sponsors in their stadium. So of course they would be willing to team up with Hololive a Japanese company with talents both in and outside of Japan. For an easy to do family friendly event. It was a win win for both parties.
People hate VTubers only because they have not watched them. One of the least toxic environments (Except Niji and a few cases like Rushia ofcourse) and are only focused on entertaining rather than creating drama.

Ive seen people complaining about fanservice in anime when hollywood also put "fanservice" in their movie,just more subtle.
Just a quick fact check: anime exists because the JP government put a lot of money into creating animation studios which developed their OWN style (Because they were using shortcuts to get out weekly animations) unlike Disney who was NOT doing serial animation. They were actually closer to ripping off Hannah-Barbera than Disney.
The jokes about all the red blooded god fearing Americans being scared of a little shark girl are funny and no doubt there were some people absolutely fuming over this but reception from non vtuber fans was actually mostly positive. Most first hand accounts I've seen say that despite not really understanding it, the atmosphere and energy that Hololive fans brought to the game was super fun and made the game feel like a playoffs game with how hyped they all were.
Of course the usual Twitteroids are fuming about this.

Yes, there ARE Sexual VTubers, but in this case, the sexualization comes from people outside being into weird stuff. Most fans of these people are NOT into that stuff, but the Internet creates community for people who always existed.
