    I used this kit on my Oxford White Focus ST. If the chip is deep you can let it dry and give it a couple coats before the clear and it helps level it out. It worked really well.

    An off the shelf fine tip art paint brush would be helpful for those small chips. Edit: And thanks for a clear description and illustration of the uses of each applicator for this paint pen.

    I did mine last night. Mine is a 2014. Fantastic match. It really surprises me that you had rust start in some of the chips. I live in Ohio and road salt is plentiful. Some of my chips have been there for years and no rust. Good job. Enjoy your ride.

    I had a guy put a clear material/wrap on mine soon after I purchased it. I have 2017 CC F350 DRW King Ranch with painted bumper and mirror caps. Can’t remember the specific brand. Cost me around $1100 for all front facing surfaces on hood, grill, lights, bumper, mirror caps, A pillars. Also had the wrap put on vertical door edges, kick plates, lower two tone stripe and inside door handles. Have several places where the material has been impacted but didn’t damage the paint. In hindsight I should have had the leading dually fender faces done also. They come with some protective covering from the the factory but it only covers the lower 8” or so. Well worth it.

    Install Clear bra. Did it to my 17. Both front fenders, hood, a-pillers+top of cab, headlights foglights, and from the body line down on the whole truck. Came with a 10 year warranty cost $1,500. I have chrome bumpers and mirror caps. Mine is self healing.

    Did Digei shield on mine, mostly happy, except bumper multipul chips with rust. Shield material is to thin allowing impact damage. If they would have made it thicker there would have been no damage.

    Thanks for the helpful and informative video. We just got hammered with massive windstorms a few days ago here in Montana and our brand new Ford Ranger got literally sandblasted with sand, gravel and small stones as we drove through it unfortunately. You could just hear the chips as they happened. Even the windshield and passenger side glass have tons of tiny chips. We just ordered the paint (J7) and those sticks. We were wondering how we were going to handle all those paint chips. Such a shame. A brand new truck. Not much we can do for the glass though. Thanks again for your video at just the right time. Stay Safe and Free. All the best to you.

      I have a 2017 250, Lariate. It has a chrome package. I prefer the chrome because I think, it holds up better than the paint. I don’t have to worry about rock chips when it comes to the bumpers and the grill. However. I have to touch up the hood. After watching your video. I’m going to buy me an oem motor craft pen and follow your example. What do you recommend for some dents that are caused by rocks but don’t Damage the paint?

    I have used touch up paint. Though not on my Super Duty.
    But my bumper and front end are chromed (steel and plastic). So I am not seeing chips on mine. Even though it is several years old now.
    It makes sense to deter rust on any vehicle worth saving.

  • @GaryTolbertJr

    I know some may say it's tacky or not right. Could get a none painted part (grille, bumper, mirror caps, etc). Still black. Matte black, prob could clear coat or of the sorts and have it glossy. I did that to my 06 F150 grille, was black and secondary tan. Looked pretty good in my opinion. Didn't have to worry about chips or anything.

    Not a bad job for a beginner! One tip would be to level your chip with some 2000/2500 sand paper and after your prepped your chip hole with your sanding tip you should clean out the hole with a q-tip and acetone and after your clear coat has dried for 48 hours you can then level your clear coat the same as the rest of your paint with a 2500 sand paper again then maybe a 3000 followed by a D/A polisher to finish the job like a pro or quality detailer would do before you install that PPF ( expel) …. :)

      2nd on the anxiousness. Does the sanding really make that much of difference with a tiny chip?

    • @sentino68
      @sentino68 3 місяці тому +1

      This was a very smart comment. There are videos showing this correct method. 2500 sandpaper just takes off a very super thin layer of the clearcoat. It’s done all the time and blends well with the touch up.

  • @HeadBassVTEC
    @HeadBassVTEC Рік тому

    That cotton swab recommendation was probably meant for touch ups having the brush only....probably would have been better off using the tip on the motorcraft touch up.
    Anyone interested in doing touchup themselves should probably watch some detailer tutorial - remember Larry from AMMO NYC had some vid showing how to do it properly.
