- My guitar solo cover of Octavarium, razor’s edge section by John Petrucci and Dream Theater. I proudly play an Ernie Ball Music Man JP6 mystic dream.
Octavarium is the title track of Dream Theater’s eighth studio album. It’s a real progressive metal suite recalling progressive rock operas from the 70’s. Infact, you can hear influences of Pink Floyd, Genesis and Yes in it, to name a few.
Razor’s Edge it’s the final section of the song and it’s basically John Petrucci’s guitar solo. Very interesting in this solo is how Petrucci switches between the chord changes along with the key changes. Also, during the final runs of the solo it is notable the changes of metrics in the scale, from triplets to quadruplets, leading up to sextuplets and the final bending to the root note! I hope you do enjoy my cover!

beautifully played, it’s notorious how you practice to got it in perfection!! Can you share the AmpliTube preset that you used for this ?
Man I do believe in this video I used the basic AmpliTube Lead Amp setting, with the use of an overdrive pedal to boost the gain and a delay. Thank you for the compliment by the way! I do really appreciate it! Subscribe for more videos coming!
