I know my stuff about dreads. I would never consider using gel is heavy and it causes buildup within the dread and it's hard to get out. Give your hair that good wash dry it and. Crochet your roots.
That is an awesome way to keep locs healthy and maintained. This gel I use is not heavy and doesn’t contain wax though. This is an all natural loving gel

I use natural aloe vera gel from the plant coconut oil and essential oils to retwist...does wonders
I dont use any gel stuff at all I interlock. My hair is so much healthier now. Om sorry I ever put stuff in my hair like beeseax and junk.
What do you use on your hair?
I mostly use jojoba almond oil.
I font use oil to redo my hair dresser interlocks with crochet pin.

@@TheNittyGritty735You would be surprised. I’m almost on my 2nd year of my locs and my mom thought I comb them all out every time I retwist. A lot of people don’t really know about locs. My sis don’t know much about them either. She has a million questions.

It's key get your retwist and your hair is pull to it's full length then it's force to grow .

I am debating on changing stylist, when I go for my retwist my starter locs are puffy and frizzy (a look I personally enjoy). When she does my retwist, she retwist my entire loc making them skinny again as though I just had them "installed" is this normal or standard as I see you focus mainly on the roots. My stylist literally takes the comb and twist the roots, places the comb further down and retwist, and repeats this process until the loc is pencil thin
When I first started mine I’d tell my loctician “roots only and not the actual loc please.” Bc I also hated how thin mine would look. That shit isn’t flattering idk why they think thin locs are a look
I have started locs on 5 different hair types now….in the beginning I feel twisting the whole loc helps the hair loc up. That’s my experience this far especially when the hair is extremely bushy. My hair even after I twist the entire thing after one shower uncovered poofs right back up anyways as does my 3 kids. Does yours not do that? Might be using some strong holding products? That could be the problem.
@@Pearlisms no it wasn’t, I switched stylist and she retwist my entire loc but she doesn’t use a lot of product. The previous one used gel, got2be spray, moose, spritzer, it made my hair stiff and crunchy. I no longer have this issue with where im going now. Thank you for sharing your experience with me

I’ve always wondered: how come locticians or folks who do their own retwists don’t twist the grow-out from the new growth, back into the new growth while twisting. If the goa is to keep the loc strand strong from root to end, why not use the outlying follicles as fortification for the loc shaft near the root? Wouldn’t that better help thicken up the freshly twisted new growth over time?
